: LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sean "Diddy" Combs has denied a report by the Los Angeles Times that his associates were responsible for the 1994 robbery and shooting of Tupac Shakur at a New York recording studio, and that he knew about the attack in advance.
"The story is a lie," the hip-hop mogul said in a statement Monday. "It is beyond ridiculous and completely false. Neither (the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.) nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened. ... I am shocked that the Los Angeles Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story."
The 1994 shooting triggered the celebrated feud between East and West Coast rappers that led to the killings of Shakur and B.I.G.
The Times said its story was based on FBI records, interviews with people at the scene of the 1994 shooting, and statements to the FBI by an informant. None of the sources was named. The story says associates hoping to curry favor with Combs — who was overseeing B.I.G.'s white-hot career at the time — lured Shakur to the studio because of his disrespect toward them.
The story said that talent manager James Rosemond and promoter James Sabatino arranged the assault. They and Combs declined to be interviewed for the story, which appeared on the Los Angeles Times Web site but not in its paper publication.
Rosemond called the story a "libelous piece of garbage."
"In the past 14 years, I have not even been questioned by law enforcement with regard to the assault of Tupac Shakur, let alone brought up on charges," he said in a statement. "Chuck Philips, the writer ... has reached a new low by employing fourth-hand information from desperate jailhouse informants along with ancient FBI reports to create this fabrication. I simply ask for all rap fans and fans of Tupac to analyze this fiction for what it is."
The story, written by Chuck Philips, was the first investigative report published as a Web exclusive, said Meredith Artley, editor of LATimes.com.
"This piece was perfect for the Web," Artley said. "The Web audience skews younger. We had all these great multimedia elements, and we said we really don't need to wait to fit this in the paper."
A "smaller version" of the story may still run in the paper, she said.
in my opinion, i don't think puffy had anything to do with pac getting shot up in nyc by that recording studio. i also don't think big had anything to do with it either, however, it was really odd that there were associates out on the street by the studio to let them know that pac was approching...that didn't make sense.why the hell were there bottom feeders like lil cease and company already downstairs from the studio awaiting pac? thats what cell phones are for. previously, pac had a small dispute with hattian jack and others in the bad boy click cause they wanted him to be down and he refused.i'm just sayin.....i also believe suge know a hell of a lot more about pac and bigs murders than hes willing to admit......i also believe puffy had a whole lot more to do with the shooting at club new york than hes willing to admit( little off the subject, but it demonstrates puffy's sincerity)

In my opinion the guy Pac beat down that night (Orlando Anderson) for snaching his chain and ran off previous to the night he was killed got revenge and shot him that night.
I just can't see Suge putting himself in harms way of a bullet by being in the same car with him when he got shot. Bullets fly where they want to, and Suge didn't become worth 100 million by the age of 31 by being stupid!

Biggie had nothing to do with Pac getting shot In 1994. Big and Pac were cool however If you watch the Notorious movie that came out It's clues all up In that movie no one never cared to pay attention to any of It. When Pac came to Biggs studio that night In the movie Lil Cease told Pac they were on the 12 floor which was right but why did Diddy tell Biggs manager In the movie that they were on the 10th floor meaning Diddy set the whole thing up with Pac getting shot and knew Biggie wouldn't make It to the elevator In time to help Pac. Diddy never said anything to Biggie about the set up and kept It quiet, this Is why Pac didn't know who to trust at that point. It's such a shame how Diddy covered everything up and that the blame was shifted to Biggie. Bigg tried to reach out to Pac at the hospital but due to circumstances In the media and him being blamed for the shooting he wasn't able to. Biggie never set Pac up they were boys but Diddy did.
