: MediaTakeOut.com has learned that Bob Johnson is talking reckless about Obama again. Here's his latest quote:
"What I believe Geraldine Ferraro meant (is) if you take a freshman senator from Illinois called 'Jerry Smith' and he says I'm going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote? And the answer is, probably not.UMMMMMM ..... Wasn't John Edwards a freshman Senator in 2004, and didn't he come close to beating John Kerry for the nomination???? A fact that the mainstream press conveniently never reports."Would he also start out with the excitement of starting out as something completely different? Probably not. He would just be a freshmen senator ...
"Geraldine Ferraro said it right. The problem is Geraldine Ferraro is white. This campaign has such a hair trigger on anything racial. It is almost impossible for anybody to say anything."
Hey Bob, we know Hillary probably promised you a cushy job as head of the FCC or something, but come on now .....
Bob Johnson, another Uncle Tom self-hating negro from down south. You'd think years of burning churches and Klan rallies would have an effect.
Mississippi's own Bob Johnson, pride of the South, another clueless bumpkin. And please, don't give me the "he started BET" or "he's rich" rebuttal. You can put a price on man's integrity, Bob Johnson has none.
Just another down south slave-mentality-having steppin fetchit negro, this explains all the years of bullchit programming on BET
I'm not surprised that this is coming for someone who has made his money defaming, sexualizing and criminalizing black youth through his BET networks.
Alicia Keys said the other day that she thought Gangster Rap was a conspiracy to encourage black youth to kill off each other. Considering Bob Johnson's ultra-conservative views and the fact that gangster rap was glorified and found it's roots on BET I think she may have a valid point.
If there are any black people out there totally offended by this azzhole I would encourage you to boycott Bob Johnson's products, including the Charlotte Bobcats.
After doing some research on this guy it's interesting to know that his business partner is Michael Jordon, another ultra-conservative fat cat who made his money off of poor black kids who can barely afford $200 Nike's. Also interesting to note is that one of Bob's business is financed by the Carlyle Group. Now if you don't know who the Carlyle Group is then you need to pull your head out of your ass and find out. These are the people who pull the strings and is widely known to be a front company for the CIA. When they finance you, they own you.
Bob Johnson ceased to be black decades ago. He's now an agent for Clinton, Cheyney and others who are trying to monopolize this country.
I am thoroughly disgusted with this man. I always disliked him for, what appeared to me, as the negitive affect his programing had on the community. But I thought at least we had some sort of mediam, for a while anyway until MTV bought it. But seeing these comments shows this brother in my mind as a totally out of touch brother.
And to hear that his business, as well as Jordans, is finance by the Carley Aluminate group shows that he is souless and a sell out and has no conscience what so ever and must be shunned from the community.
He and Micheal Jordan are both Toms and Sell outs!
I agree as well with her comment and I am certainly no uncle Tom, it is true Obamamania is a result of him being black and getting 90% of the black vote in every state.
You get sums of blacks who almost never vote and suddenly they see a black face and they want to be apart of history so they vote for the black man. Most black folks expect that sense you are black you are voting for Obama and anyone who wants to vote otherwise is seen as a self hating race aborting uncle tom negro and this is wrong on so many levels.
I am an african american female who happens to think he is a arrogant [EXPLETIVE] who thnks he is funny and charismatic. I work for the federal government and see loads of succesful black men everyday who can talk circles around him without all the "um ah and ya know" so I am not gonna fall in the well he speaks so well category I mean really have most of the people who are voting for him on the basis of his speeches ever been to a toastmaster meeting or conference for that matter?
I do by all means believe we are ready for a black president but he is not the one, just because he is young and makes some females get there [EXPLETIVE] wet and some males get a hard on does not mean he will make a good president.
This man can not take criticism so he resorts to mocking people which I believe is very childish and is not amusing. We shall see how this all plays out but I just believe as a black person in america I have to let peoiple know that he is not a representative for me Malcolm X was but not BO.
Obama is a face, call it black or white. If black Americans see him as a black face and go to the polls to VOTE; I say job well done! What's wrong with being a part of history? That's what's wrong with black people, we just want to die and be rememberd for nothing; only for who we owed. This man is not a drug dealer, pimp, or a crackhead. This man is trying to make a change and yes he may not be able to do everything he claims or say, but [EXPLETIVE] which one of them have. Dr. King must be rolling over in his grave at some of us black people. Whites and other racist know how to pull together and back one another, but we as black people do what we do best! We run and hide behind a white face, because we fear if something goes wrong with our decision agaist what they beleive in we will be punished by them. Well I say the time is over for all that SH*T. If he wins and makes changes for all Americans to have a better way of living, watch how all these outsourced black people to the white man and woman jump the f**k onboard and start talking about how their vote for him made a differnce. Don't belive me, well go back to your 'How To Be A Real N.I.G.G.A' manual. It's in Chapter one.
@ZARTIA, please do not fall into the black people are only voting for him because he is black. True, that may have something to do with why SOME blacks are voting for him but can the same be assumed for Hillary and women? Hmmm. I was reading your comment and thought it was an intelligent one UNTIL I get to the "I do by all means believe we are ready for a black president but he is not the one, just because he is young and makes some females get there [EXPLETIVE] wet and some males get a hard on does not mean he will make a good president."
WTF? You presented yourself as if your opinion and experience was relevant and then you talk like this which contradicts the good "experience" you claim to have. I am black and I plan on voting for him because I like him and what he stands for. For me, his skin color does not play a factor. Stop trying to come up with reasons why YOU THINK black people are voting for a black man. Maybe, just maybe, they watch the news and like what this man stands for. Get over it
ANYBODY.....that want bob johnson(no respect)to work in any capacity in their organization..tells me everything I need to know. This is a man that had controlled of the entire black entertainment industry as the owner of the BET, and what did he do...he exploited blacks, used them, made them look cheap, got famous from showing black women asses, degrading blacks, and setting the blacks back 500 years!!!!!!
The BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO BET WAS THE DAY HE LEFT!!!!!!!!! BLACKS ARE A LOT BETTER OFF!!!!
I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH MONEY THIS MAN HAS..."What does it profit a man to gain the world, and lose his SOUL".......
I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THIS MAN.....HE IS SCUM!!!!!
Bob Johnson has been, and remains, a joke and a total coon....As if the embarrassment that BET weren't enough, he's now going over the top is shifflin' for the Clintons.
MTO hit the nail on the head...Especially with the John Edwards analogy. This is one of the best posts MTO has done in ages...You all are restoring my faith in ya lol.
I'm sure being President of the Harvard Law Review and being able to unite the troubled journal, being a civil rights activists for many years, being universally liked by former Harvard Law classmates, spending years in Illinois state senate, and being a senator for Illinois has nothing to with it. Any white man with his qualifications would not be questioned. JFK was a young senator when he was presidenet. His qualifications to lead the nation have generally not been questioned. There are many presidents with less qualification, e.g. Bush, yet they still get the benefit of doubt because of family connections, e.g. Clinton. Hillary Clinton is also a JUNIOR SENATOR like Obama. The only difference is that she spent the bulk of her career at a corporate law firm, not serving the public interest.
Bod Johnson is a coon. He will go down in history as a coon, and a dumb ass Uncle Tom. Obama is OVERQUALIFIED, yet everyone assumes that a black man must be underqualified, even that self-hating coon Johnson.
Some of you blind obamanites have proven my point you live in a fantasy world so you resort to name calling and assuming I will get hurt over something you typed over the internet.
I was stating an opinion, my opiniion which must have obviously been true by all of the character examinations you obamanites have thrown my way but trust me I have been called worst by people I could actually see infont of me.
First off a person should not post anythiing because a person will agree or disagrees with what they say but then again I guess that is why most of you like obama because he says what you like and he makes you think you agree because he is black like you, but that is not the same for me and I made my opinion known.
Some of you got so upset because what I said is true but being a black person your pride wont let you agree and thats cool but it is also called being stuck on stupid and being stuck on stupid is cool too if that will appease.
I am not going for a person just cause I am black and I think to base something like your vote on that basis is very ignorant. I assume alot of the posters who log on here and say negative things about people on a daily basis are black but I wont vote for them for the same reason I wouldnt vote for BO and that is because they come off childish, arrogant, and resort to name calling when people don't agree with them but wait a minute... sooooooo I guess BO is reaching his targeted demographic people who are just like him.
I will be a monkeys ass if it will appease you people unfortunately you guys don't know me and if I knew you personally I probably wouldn't like you either so no harm no foul right?
Anyways I am not a self hating individual because we don't agree on BO as a saviour or perhaps the next big thing.
I never voted and I never will once you understand the system dominating this united states you will understand why. America is ready to have a black president or change if you will only if this system was fair and represented the people but that person for me is not BO if you like the guy then by all means pat yourself on the back you have made a personal decision for yourself. I happen to believe otherwise he is change for the NWO if he wins he will fit the agenda of the hardships to come same goes for any of the candidates.
If I sae a man or woman who wholeheartedly agrees with what I agree with then I will put my intrest on that individual not the flavor of the month just because "he is black so I am making history for my people" what a load of crap the only thing that can save us now at this point is YAH because it is all about to hit the fan.
If it's all about OBAMA being black why didn't Jessee or Al Sharpton get the majority of the black vote when they ran for president....What about the white people voting for McCain because he's white and they don't want a black man or a woman to be president, but white people don't have to defend their of candidate of choice...Obama is obviously getting the white vote as well because black people alone can't keep him in the race.
And bob needs to shut the hell up and go fix broke down BET!
ZARTIA: You obviously are just some desk clerk or other low-level employee. If you were educated, you would realize the majority of Obama supporters are white. White men. Blacks are only 10% of the population, yet Obama has beat Clinton in the TOTAL popular vote to date. He is beating her in white states. He is beating her, period. Most pundits agree that he will be the nominee.
Constitutional scholar, Cass Sunstein, the constitutional it guy, has described Obama as phenomenal and exceptionally talented. Bumpkins like you think it is about the looks. Obama is incredibly bright, has credentials many other presidents, yet her will be questioned because he is black. Any black person in a high-powered career know that their competence will be questioned despite their credentials. Low-level negroes like you will think that that blacks like him are too uppity, or don't deserve our position. Unfortunately, it took white men voting for Obama for blacks to realize that a black man can be president.
Rev. Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would never get my vote for president. They are black. They didn't come close to Obama because they were underqualified. Obama deserves to be where he is now.
ZARTIA - If not Obama then pray tell which of the other candidate deserves to be President? Is it McCain or Clinton?
While you ponder my question, let me say this... I would prefer his "um ah and ya know" over lies and superfluities any day! Not to mention prefering all his negatives over a party that mocks my race.
Oh yes, regarding your comment,"just because he is young and makes some females get there [EXPLETIVE] wet and some males get a hard on does not mean he will make a good president." It is none of your business who gets our what wet or hard! Maybe you need to find release elsewhere.
Oh yes! When did working in the federal government make anyone an authority on anything?
@ZARTIA: My dear Sista do you not know "Death and life are in the power of the tongue:and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof"? be careful what you say. How dare you make such crude remarks about a man who is upright and can indeed be a role model for the furture generation?
I do by all means believe we are ready for a black president but he is not the one, just because he is young and makes some females get there [EXPLETIVE] wet and some males get a hard on does not mean he will make a good president.
Stating one's opinion is fine, but there is absolutely no need for disrespect.
"A fools mouth is his destruction" Prov 18: 7&21
Mr. Johnson can say what he pleases, I am quite certain it will not sway our votes one way or the other!
Zartia:
I'm convinced that you are not a lawyer for the federal government. Otherwise, I doubt you would have time in the middle of the day to post on this site. Government lawyers spend a bulk of their day in court for motions etc., in meetings with supervisors, or on trial prep. So, your observation is not a legal historical one.
Let's guess your position. I know. You do docketing for a federal court, or you work in the clerk's office with scheduling. These positions give you access to a computer and are less taxing.
Rather than use race to try and determine why Barak Obama is leading in the primaries, perhaps the pundits and nay sayers should use that same measurement to ask why Hillary Clinton continues to remain viable. It may be hard for some portions of society to accept, but the reality is had Edwards been in the position Barak is in right now…Hillary would have been forced to concede. Unfortunately there are still segments of our society that can not and will not judge a person based on their merits alone…race is a huge issue, and it is that segment that even in the face of out right lies (Bosnia and the healthcare tale) and inconsistency (NAFTA and the immigration issue) will still support “the white” candidate over ANY non-white. Whites’ voting for whites is normal and NEVER considered racist. For that increasing small group (both white and blacks that accept racial hatred) it’s beyond their comprehension that perhaps those voting for and supporting a “non-white” candidate are actually weighing the issues and looking at character, integrity and other individual merits….for that segment their ideal of “normal” American society and behavior is being challenged.
There you go making assumptions about me again hey I got an idea maybe i'll run for president so you guys can find out as much about me as you found out about BO.
The prolem with Al Sharpton and Jesse and the voting thing is becuase black people knew them before they ran for public office and so they pretty much already formed their opinions about them which were not very favorable.
Please don't ask me questions about the white masses for I never lived my life as one of those people so for now lets just focus on us kay.
The reason why I stated I work for the Feds is to paint a picture for you guys if you will about my situation of being involved with articulate black males who speak very well but I guess I said to much because it seems like some folks miscontrued that part but what can I say.
I love my people their so animated.
@ Zartia & Big Fella
Anyone who agrees with Ferraro needs to be slapped. First of all, the lady is coo coo. She was on Fox news a couple of weeks ago talking about she is not racist for saying Obama is only where he is b/c he's Black, and then says that his Texas staff sent several emails about the comments she made. The anchorman said "you sure it wasn't supporters?" She said "no it had to be staff, it was so organized!" Now, I am on his email serve for Texas for Obama and it was organized by us, not staff, but she wants to make him look bad b/c she was fired for those dumb ass comments.
Some of us are concerned about our futures and not just voting for a Black president. The truth of the matter is that there are some Blacks out there who are so out of touch with the world that all they know is there's a Black president running and I'm gonna vote for him. On the other hand, there's the rest of the world who are feeling the crunch of a slumping economy and know that something better needs to be done. Race or ethnicity at this point bear no significance, b/c we are all facing the same problems.
We've been lied to for 8 years by a president, who doesn't give a damn about the people who "voted" him into office. He's gone with his own judgment to accomplish HIS agenda, which is heavily showing now. This nation is the worst shape that it has been in since the depression and is steadily getting worse.
We have three choices at this point. You can sit back and not vote, but one of those three people will be our next president. NWO may be our future, but we need to focus on the now, and now we are in a presidential campaign, that is one of the most crucial in decades.
You can vote for a woman that claims she has all this "experience", but in reality has less experience than all the candidates, and has to make up elaborate stories concerning her foreign experience and continuously lies. You can vote for a man, who says that we'll stay in Iraq for a 100 years if it's up to him, and basically wants to continue Bush's agenda.
Or you can vote a man who has gotten bad press b/c of his association with an "anit-american" pastor ( who is in my opinion telling the truth), whose wife is finally proud of America ( I am too), and has admitted to doing drugs in the past. Obama is a breath of fresh air, b/c of his honesty. Some people like to live in LaLa Land believing that "Oh everyone loves each other and we can hold hands and sing Kum Bah Yah". BS! We don't need a politician telling us what we want to hear to make us feel better, we need a president to be brutally honest. No one is perfect, but even with the imperfections of Obama I totally trust him over the other two.
Like I said there is too much going on in the world to be worried about the skin color of a man. This argument could probably be more accurate if: we were not in the middle of a war if the american dollar was valued the way it use to be if gas prices were $2.00 if there was no mortgage crisis if all our jobs weren't being shipped overseas if the govt wasn't trying to scare us shitless about terrorism
I see some of you guys really did turn my post around you said to yourselves "a black person who doesn't like BO oh hell no" but it is true I don't care for his vies but I guess his wife thinks he is a really nice person so go figure,
To peppers you only think we have been lied to for 8 years hmmmmmm thats interesting. Only 8 you say.
I agree with her comment I didn't say I want to be her, I think i'm much more prettier than Ferraro but her comment did have some merit to me she may be all the things you say but that doesn't concern me i'm not interested in her so sorry to burst your bubble however I believe her comment rang true about BO's situation. Can you understand that mamme?
The relevance of my comment is Bush's term, hence the 8 years of lies. I know that politicians are dirty and once in office want to please their contributors (lobbyists). What presidential candidate that you know who doesn't except lobbyist funds. You are entitled to your opinion about Obama. But the ish just doesn't make sense considering we are living in America. There aren't enough Black people living in America to vote him into office, so obviously there are white, latinos, asians who are voting for him as well. The average person does not psycho-analyze or even research candidates, but for those who do, Obama is the best hands down. If one wants to watch Fix News for updates on the presidential candidates, then they're going to get half-truths, or they can research and find out the full truth for themselves.
Oh yeah I think her comment is true, in an America where Blacks are the majority and where everyone loves us. His position was not a result of affirmative action, it was not given to him, it was earned. How would you feel if someone were to say the only way you got your job with the feds is because you're black. Yes I know it's two different situations, but how would that make you feel if you worked hard for something, but people just write it off as a free ride. If you know the history of BO, then you know if he was in this for the money, then he wouldn't have started off community organizing to HELP people. If you stack up the bills that Hillary helped to pass and the one that he either authored or helped to pass , then it wouldn't be an argument.
@PEPPERS AMEN GIRL!!! I couldn't have said it better myself!! This is not about the color of this man's skin!! It seems like only white people are trying to make that an issue. YES I'm sure there is that segment of the black community who is either too ignorant or too lazy to do the research and will vote for Obama "just because he's black". But that's only a very small number compared to the bigger picture.
@ZARITA You shot yourself in the foot when you went off on a tangent talking about making pussies wet and dycks hard. That was COMPLETELY unnecessary and had you NOT gone down that road, folks on here might have respected your opinion a little more. Everyone has a right to their own opinions and you are certainly entitled to yours, but making such a crude remark only put a bull's eye on your back and everyone grabbed a handful of darts. If you want to be taken serious intellectually and have your opinions respected you might want to present your argument that way next time. I personally like to hear the many different opinions and perspectives of people no matter how contradictory they may be to mine. That's how we grow as people but making the comment that you did took it to the gutter and if you play in the gutter you WILL get dirt thrown at you.
Again to PEPPERS . . . RIGHT ON SISTA GIRL!! I can certainly vibe with a mind like yours!!
PEACE!
I got this info from another MTO reader:
Let's take a closer look at who's really qualified and or who's really working for the good of all of us in the Senate. Obama or Clinton.
Records of these two candidates should be scrutinized in order to make an informed decision.
Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term - 6yrs. - and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law - 20 - twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years.
These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress [link to external website removed] but to save you trouble, I'll post them here for you.
1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
5. Name courthouse after Jam es L. Watson.
6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton 's bills are, more substantive.
16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11 18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.
19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.
There you have it, the fact's straight from the Senate Record.
Now, I would post those of Obama's, but the list is too substantive, so I'll mainly categorize.
During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced
233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law, **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.
In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.
An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public.
Regardless, Ferraro's comments were ludicrous and stupid. In the beginning Obama had barely any black support because you have those blacks who didn't think he was black enough, blacks who didn't think a black man had any chance of being in a primary and blacks who wondered who the hell he was.
There's no truth to Geraldine's statement at all. In the beginning, a Jerry Smith probably wouldn't have been supported until he opened his mouth and showed people what he wanted to do. Then the support would either be there or it wouldn't.
I don't believe Geraldine's comments were racist at all. I know her past record. She just believed what she was saying because she had such a hard time as a female. What she was neglectful in was believing that America is ready for a change NOW.
@Zartia
So you work for the federal Goverment and your thoughts on Obama and being black really counts.
You sit there with your Fed buddy's and listen to their jokes and other bulls**t! Thinking since we work were it happens, we know what's best.
You know what they say, a educated fool is the worst kind of fool.
Get a grip baby! Because your s**t stank just like everybody esle's no matter what package it comes out of, black or white!
Also, for all of you faithful BET people--look at what Bob Johnson poured into your mind and soul when he owned that station. Now look, he says what he wants without no thought behind it. No one protested against BET except older people who didn't watch it. This is how degradation permeates many black commuities--apathy. Had Mr. Johnson received thousands of letters of protest, he would've done something to better BET's shows.
Zartia:
"I love my people THEIR [sic] so animated.... Wow I am a lawyer working for the Federal Government how about a raise now." (Zartia)
I'm sure that the DOJ hired you as an attorney with your wonderful grammar. DOJ attorney who I know can recognize when "THEY'RE" making idiotic comments.
Peppers, I co-sign on everything that you have said.
Here's the difference between steppin fetchit Bob Johnson and Charles Rangel: While I disagree with Rangel, he's supporting Hillary, not RUNNING DOWN Obama like country bumpkin arse Bob Johnson. I personally have ZERO problems with the Clintons, I'm just in Obama's camp. Bob Johnson is a poor excuse for a human being.
First off I am a camcer so believe me when I tell you my middle name is research and that is one reason why I choose not to vote.
Do yourself a favor and research the black pope if you hadn't already, hey he is coming to atown near me.
Okay people I think I gave or give some of you to much credit for being able to comprehend another persons opinion so by all means keeping reading stuff into my posts that arent really there.
Nothing just happens because you vote the last 8 years should have taught you that but I wont say anything more about that until you say you have researched the black pope.
Again my people you are misssing the point she did not say th only reason he is winning because the only people are voting for him is black people she said and im only paraphrasing that he is in a good position because he is black if you can read behind what a person is saying I believe she meant to say if you had 90% of a race voting for you you would be winning too but in an attempt to not look racist she didn't go there but the comment went in that direction any way so go figure to bad so sad for her.
And it is funny you say psycho analyze or research because that is what most people that know me say I do, I can't help it they also call me spiritual go figure because the thought of spelling his whole name sends chills up my spine and not in a good way I had a vision about him 3 years ago but I won't get into that right now.
HoneyDip my intentiosn was to tell it how I see it and it does appear that alot and not all should I say BO supporters do experience a sexual arrousal if you will when they think of this man in the white house sorry if my assumption of how I feel about some of these indiviuals troubled you but thats all apart of the risk you take on a message board you can never guesstimate what people will type get it guesstimate.
You get a lot of young females say BO is sexy and they wish he wasn't married and how they have sexual fantasies about this man I just read something about a female saying something about that before my first post I guess that is what lead me to post that in addition to GF comment that I happened to agree with.
Why for some reason since I am for BO people always throw Hillary at me? Hmmmmmmm I guess the media really does have us thinking we need to make a choice because they assume the only party we are privy to is the democratic party I don't know I guess I shouldn't be putting my opinion out there like that again.
I believe that there are 3 groups out there when it comes to the dmocratic voters for BO IMHO
1. The blacks
2. the whites who are tired of the clintons and and thinks that Mccain is to old.
3.The whites who are voting for BO that are really republicans who want to see Clinton out because they think she will probably give mccain a run for his money and possibly win.
Category 3 really does exist and I read alot on actual political boards no offense MTO where folks do say they do or did that.
Anyways i'll go now because I need to go bandage my foot now because apparently some people told me I shot it.
Bob Johnson is really just talking out the side of his neck because he is a republican.. I dont care about his political vieews but dont try to downtalk that next man because he is doin what you cant. I expect him to be republican, Republicans look out for those with money but he dont want a Black president because right now his only competition for the 'Everybody's Favorite Negro' AWARD is Cuba Gooding Jr. so he know he got it but if we get a black president he loses his place. He need to go back to the country club whith his shuckin' and jivin' ass and SHUT THE HELL UP!!! SOME OF US STILL CARE ABOUT THE STATE OF BLACK PEOPLE AND WANT SOMEONE IN OFFICE WHO DOES AS WELL. F'IN PORCH MONKEY!!!
John F Kennedy was a US Rep for 6 years before becoming a Senator. While a senator he finished second in the nomination for VP. Kennedy ran for president when he was in his SECOND term as US senator.
John Edwards has been a senator since 98. Al Gore had Edwards on his short list for VP until he settled on Lieberman.
The analogies between JFK, Edwards and Obama is a very far stretch, so please do some research before you hop on a bandwagon.
@ Zarita
I agree with you 100%. I am also an African American female who is voting for Hillary. So go ahead and call me an "uncle Tom" etc. A majority of you on this site couldn't tell me one single thing about Obama. I have asked numerous people why they are voting for him and I never get a concrete answer. The majority are voting for him because he is black. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that. People have the right to vote for whomever they want to.
@ peppers_01 - Thank you for posting the candidates records. While you was researching, did you happen to come across the statistics showing how many times Obama chose to vote "present" instead of voting yes or no on an issue. I think the count is approx. 200+ times.
It is disgusting how everyone is jumping down Zarita's throat just because she voiced her opinion. Some of you "geniuses" are even stomping so low as to downgrade her job and position just because you don't agree with her. I wonder how many of you "scholars" have a degree or jobs.
I normally read and keep it moving on this site, but your ignorance made me register and post a comment.
I have wasted enough of my time, got to get back to work. I wish some of you could do the same.
Enjoy your day!
BTW, Don't waste your time responding to me, because I won't bother reply.
Pepper's you still never said why we should be slapped for agreeing with Ferraro. You should never ever quote something you found on MTO. What you should look at is the history of the US government, there have only been TWO that have gone from Senate directly to White House, JFK and Warren G Harding. Warren G Harding would be the closest analogy to Barack, first time senator elected to the white house with no prior experience in Congress. BTW - Harding is known for being one of the WORST presidents in the history of the US
[link to external website removed]
Yeah I did. You want me to write the generic explantion format (i.e. I disagree with your because......). I am in no way saying that Ferraro is racist, maybe she is maybe she isn't. I think I typed far more of an answer to that question. Maybe it's not sufficient for you, but that is another story. There are those who will go with the name calling, not I. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and even more everyone is entitled to their expression of opinion and how they disagree with someone. I understand what you're saying about those who have gone straight from senate to the white house........okay. So..........just b/c only two other times in history has a senate been elected prez, means that it's happening to Obama b/c he's Black? Maybe I',m wrong please help me to understand.
The main point that I've been trying to make is that we are in too deep of a [EXPLETIVE] hole to voting for someone based on skin color. Come on! People are looking at the merit of this man. I'm sure whites are not voting for him b/c he's Black; "Oh we'll give the [EXPLETIVE] a chance", YEAH RIGHT. Considering the other choices we have Obama is the best one. THAT'S MY OPINION.
EyesWideOpen:
You need to respond just read. Mr. Obama cast 4,000 votes in the Illinois Senate and used the present vote to protest bills that he believed had been drafted unconstitutionally or as part of a broader legislative strategy; the present count is approximately 130.
Show me a candidate without flaw and I will cast my vote for that person.
There is nothing wrong in supporting HRC or even JMc – it is a free country and we should all vote for our best person. Don’t go agreeing 100% with someone who has personal attacks and not policy attacks (zarita) – read her blog and you will better understand what she represents.
BO having 90% of the black vote, which he does not, is not why he is winning. The black vote is 13% of the US population. Miss lawyer in the Federal Govt. should know that! How the heck could he be winning with 90% of the 13% population? So why would she agree with GF on that count?
I wish someone would tell me from a policy standpoint how HRC differs from BO – not much! Tell me also, how do you justify taking something from another and expect to win in November – how?
HRC failed because she assumed this was her nomination and she was ill prepared to deal with a novice who outplayed and outsmarted her. Won’t you even admit that? Now, it has gotten nasty because it is win at any means which will amount to failure for the Democratic Party because HRC and her merry gang may win the battle and gain the nomination but she will not see the promise land come January 2009 because she will be seen as a thief!
Be fair – don’t bash us because we disagree with you and don’t disrespect us with your nastiness. How insulting!
So we should be slapped for agreeing with someone you said is coo-coo?
I'm not saying that BO isn't talented, all I am saying that he is in this position now because he is black. Just like I said Hillary is in the position she is now because she was married to Bill Clinton.
There is nothing outstanding about either one of their records as a Senator that would push them to the Presidency of the United States. But because of their backgrounds, a black man and an ex first lady, they are being pushed to the forefront of the DNC.
What makes BO so different that in the history of the United States of America, that only two have gone from sitting senate to the White House to President. If you look closely, JFK had a 6 year run in the House of Reps, so the equivalent to BO is Warren G Harding.
Look at the candidates from the DNC and tell me if BO or Hilliary stacks up: Kerry - Senator since 1985 Gore - House 1976-82 Senate 84-93 VP of US Clinton - Governor Arkansas 10 yrs,Ark AG 2 yrs Dukakis - Governor Mass 12 yrs Mondale - Senator MN 12 yrs VP of US Carter - Governor GA 4 yrs
@ ZARITA GROW UP JFK WON BECAUSE HE WAS YOUNG AND GOOD LOOKING, RONALD REAGAN WON BECAUSE HE WAS AN ACTOR, JUST LIKE THE GUVANATOR WHO AFTER ALL THIS TIME I CAN JUST BARELY UNDERSTAND. PERSONALLY I CHECK WHERE A POLICIAN STANDS ON THE ISSUES BECAUSE I DON'T REALLY TRUST ANY OF THEM, BUT I VOTE FOR THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS. HILARY IS RUNNING A DIRTY, DIRTY CAMPAIGN AND I'VE LOST ALL RESPECT FOR HER AND BILL. OBAMA, WANTS TO ACTUALLY DO SOME GOOD THINGS AND UNLIKE HILLARY, HE WAS ALWAYS AGAINST THIS STUPID WAR.. I DON'T CARE IF PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR THAT FINE ASS' BARACK OBAMA WHEN HE COULD ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE. YOU CAN VOTE FOR WHO YOU LIKE, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO HATE BARACK BECAUSE HE'S POPULAR. PLUS, WHITE PEOPLE LOVE THIS MAN. THERE AREN'T ENOUGH BLACK PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY TO GET A BLACK PRESIDENT ELECTED YOU DO KNOW THAT RIGHT? PLUS THERE'S ARE SO MANY BLACKS WITH SLAVE MENTALITY WHO ARE AFRAID OF HAVING A BLACK PRESIDENT THAT YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE BLACK VOTE ALONE ISN'T ENOUGH. STOP HATIN'.
Let me start by saying kudos to you PEPPERS_01!! Sistah, you are alright with me!! Thank you for your post.
I wasn't going to log in and post a comment, but after reading the blogs I felt that I had to say something.
I am a black woman, very well educated (Juilliard and Columbia University, to name a few) and I normally don't put that out there, but since there are some people posting comments who seem to feel the only thing black people can do is make decisions out of emotions and not information, I decided I'd share this. I am gainfully employed and very community and spiritually motivated.
With that being said, it's unfortunate that the best thing to hit the political scene in my lifetime is being attack for being too brilliant. In my travels and education, I too, have heard many eloquent, engaging, articulate black men speak and work towards political gains. Needless to say, Barack is in a class by himself.
I am a New Yorker, and until recently, a Hillary supporter. I will admit that before the campaigns began she would have gotten my vote, had she not been running with Barack as her opponent. But as much as I thought of Hillary, she doesn't hold a candle to Barack. And I live in the state she represents.
I am very sad to say that regardless of the fact that Hillary is running against Barack for the democratic nomination, I am disturbed, disappointed, and disgusted with the campaign she has orchestrated. She is a liar, cries fake tears, and has lately acted out of pure desperation to win votes.
If you are a black person who is so determined to NOT vote for Barack just because he's black or you've seen his type before, then do you. But best believe you can't tear this man down if you tried. WE, the American people, should be begging HIM to take the job as president!! People say Barack has a sassy mouth... Nonsense!! What should he do?? Play passive just because he's black?? Let's get real anti-Barack black people. Barack has been a gentleman throughout his entire campaign and the only time he goes off topic is to respond to somebody elses foolishness. It just goes to show that race and color always plays a role, even amongst ourselves, because we are looking for reasons to justify why we're not gonna be one of those black people who votes for someone just because they're black. I've never heard anything so ridiculous. Has a white person ever been looked down upon for voting for another white person just because they're white??? And the truth is, we all know this has happened time and time again in our American political history.
I am NOT voting for Barack because he's black. I'm voting for him because he's brilliant, educated, sensible, action-oriented, and a uniter. AND, he just happens to be black.
And as far as GF is concerned, if being black in this country gives us an advantage for once, then I say H*LL YEAH! But the undisputed fact is, Barack has won in states that Hillary should have pounced him in. Now how do you explain that?? And don't give me the theory about Republicans voting for him to shut down Hillary because I've heard the same thing in reverse. I've heard Republicans say they loathe Hillary so much that they're going out to vote for her because they know if she wins the nomination McCain is a garaunteed win. Both my parents are in their 70's. Trust me, we don't want John McCain as our president.
Everything in life is a give and take, politics included. Barack shouldn't have to apologize to anyone for being the star he is. Nobody's proclaiming him to be a savior. I have one Lord and Savior, and that's Jesus Christ. But you can't deny he's connected to this generation in a way that no politician has. And for that, it would be a crime and a disgrace for Barack Obama to lose this nomination and not take it all the way to the White House.
Thanks Lissa! I have to agree with everything you said. We are educated enough to vote for someone for reason other than his skin color. Bigfella you try to throw in the past presidents, but today that holds no signifance. Like Lissa says the man is well-qualified for the position. People try to throw in campaign that he is not prepared to be president, but look at our current president. A 5 year-old is more qualified to make better decisions than he has.
I have been with Obama since the beginning, not because he's Black, but because of his credentials. He is NOT where he is because he's Black, but b/c of the hope for a better future that he puts in us. When we are conditions like we are, we need that hope. Not to say he's a miracle worker, but he displays a more promising future than the other two. These naive Americans who change their vote from issue to issue are not dependable. In the long run, it matters not these minial shortcomings, but what you stand for and what you "HONESTLY" plan to do to help this country.
Good post!
First off...being here in Charlotte---- BOB JOHNSON IS A CHEAP AZZ CLOWN. TODAY, in the local news he is now blaming all of the peeps of Charlotte for not supporting his NBA Bobcats... With the prices in that new arena and a SUCK AZZ team... who WANTS to afford that when gas is $3.33! Also, Michael Jordan is TEAM President and is so absentee... And you thought ISIAH THOMAS was bad... Jordan DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT running a TEAM (period)... All of the coaching staff are his boys! Who wants that, especially when the team has a HISTORY of losing. NOW, if BOB & Michael used some checker flags and had NASCAR cars in the speakers at the games... the NASCAR minded of this area may support the team a lil more...nuff said...
Within the last three months his outfit has made MILLIONS MORE buying and selling HOTELS! The ARENA changed its name to Time Warner Cable Arena and paid BOBcat Johnson millions for that CRAP.
Secondly, most in his MILLION/BILLIONAIRE inner circle are white republicans... That have wives like Geraldine Ferraro and still think of Barack OBAMA as that "boy". <<<namely that smart azz n-word>>>>
Bob Johnson - go back to D.C. or wherever you came from!
OBAMA 2008!
@Bigfella --- I get your point but before BILL Clinton became Prez... You aint neva eva heard of that hick before unless you were from Arkansas or the gulf coast and he got in... Not to critique your points but ---- this is a piss poor showing for the DNC:
Look at the candidates from the DNC and tell me if BO or Hilliary stacks up: Kerry - Senator since 1985 ---married in to the Heinz Ketchup Billionaire family --- his welfare cheque comes to him from the American people --he has done NOTHING for anybody!!!!!!!!!
Gore - House 1976-82 Senate 84-93 VP of US --- he said that HE INVENTED THE internet after the VP office he is NOW MADLY PAID IN FULL! He still couldnt lead anybody anywhere---- how was his Prez. campaign--- one slow clap for his azz...
Clinton - Governor Arkansas 10 yrs,Ark AG 2 yrs (we still have some luv for his now ALZHEIMER -diarrhea at the mouth (not aging well self)
Dukakis - Governor Mass 12 yrs --- worst Gov in MAss History - more murderers were released from Prison and re-entered Prison 1 to 2 murders later...nuff said
Mondale - Senator MN 12 yrs VP of US --- OK but just a patsy ---- can you name anything that he did for black folks in America! thought not!
Carter - Governor GA 4 yrs ---we have love for the Humanitarian Georgia Jimmy --- he's still alive n kickin it all over the world.
thats my $ .02 on all of em!
Howard, long time no hear! Hope all has been well with you.
Bill Clinton was the chair of the National Governor's Convention prior to becoming President and also there was thought he was going to run for president in 88.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of Barack or Hillary, I just feel that they are in the position they are in now is because of race and gender. In my opinion, their (HC and BO) body of work falls short of the past presidential candidates from the DNC. You bring up good points about the past candidates, but I'm pretty sure you could find some good that they did.
Once again, in my opinion, John Edwards would be a better president then both of them.
@bigfella
all is ok---- I hope that all is kool with you too.
gas is high... and my ca$h is low ---why complain!
BTW---- I think John Edwards is the ONLY choice and hope for Obama... My non-black friends ---lmao love John Edwards --- since he is from this area. They think that John stabilizes and brings the average white voter ---- something to hope/vote for.
Peace!
Obama Edwards 2008
I live in Charlotte and the Bobcats ain't SHYT! NOBODY I know steps foot in that arena unless they giving out FREE tickets and that only depends on the team they are playing. Bob just wants more money, the team is sorry, the tickets and merchandise are seriously overpriced, but that doesn't matter to him, since he is getting all kinds of kickbacks to keep this team running. Give me a break Bob, you money hungry frog
I am supporting the Democrat, I don't care which one of them it is. But, Bob Johnson is an embarassment. Here the brother is attempting to run a color-blind campaign, and one of his own is attempting to sabotage him, ironically, using race. It's shameful. Johnson is an [EXPLETIVE] anyway. Just ask all those comedians on Comic View, who didn't get paid, what they think of Johnson. Ask all those loyal employees who got nothing, when he sold BET. Don't think your own kind won't screw you, they'll do it faster because they are closer to you.
why is everytime someones says someting you or others dont agree with they're talking reckless everyone has a right to their opinion and every black person or other wise dont have to vote or even LIKE OBAMA and in fact BLACK folks are the at FIRST who gave him a hard time about not being black ENOUGH how reckless is that
MyLoveIsLikeWoah
okay because your word means so much to me I will do, " hint hint" notice the sarcastic remark
Our moment is now,
you caught me I was trying to hide it but through those magnificent computer eyes of yours you saw right threw me.....
I admit it I do need YAH but then again so do we all yes?
But in any event your offer of prayer will be greatly appreciated thats if you were really sincere about doing that were you and why? Because we choose to disagree with the masses and open our eyes?
Okay I can buy that.
This comments goes to those people saying 'if Obama was white" and agreeing with Bob Johnson...
IF OBAMA WAS WHITE...we would have ANOTHER WHITE man running for president...so OF COURSE he would not be a big deal...the fact that he is BLACK AND SMART AND INTELLIGENT and has black and all types of people backing him is a HUGE thing!
As for the black people backing him...i fail to understand why that is a big deal. Is it soooo normal for blacks to only support white people that when they finally support their own they are ONLY doing it because he is black? when whites support Hillary or McCain I read or hear NOTHING about the fact they are supporting them ONLY because they are white. What the hell is this? a double standard? If we don't vote for him we are house negros...if we do support him its only because he is black and NOT because we actually believe in him. Well I am voting for Obama because he is THE man, he is smart and who the hell cares if he is cocky? if he was white he would be considered confident. Is he supposed to bow his head while in the presence of white people? Frig that...Obama please please please continue to do your thing and NEVER apologize for being BLACK, BOOK SMART AS WELL AS STREET SMART, CONFIDENT, ATTRACTIVE, MARRIED TO A BLACK WOMAN, HAVING INTEGRITY, HOPE, LOVING BLACK PEOPLE, BEING ABLE TO HOLD YOUR OWN IN THE PRESENCE OF ARROGANT WHITE PEOPLE AND FOR LOVING WHO YOU ARE. Thank you...
I'm no Obama supporter by any means but with all due respect Mr. Johnson, if you had been a white man you would not have been successful with BET and here's why. No white person on this earth could have created a channel solely devoted to showing videos that depicted black people as mysogynists, hoes and criminals, created comedy shows that showed black people as the most ignorant and buffonish people in America and sold advertising time to white preachers scamming black folks out of their money without certain black folk in this country at the least picketing you out of business or putting a few well placed molotov cocktails through the windows at worse. I think Mr. JOhnson's own tomfoolery has made him so rich that he forgot himself.
Bootlickin, Uncle Rukus, punk a$$ coon. Thanks Bob Johnson for f@ckin us over with your broadcasting of ignorance and damaging stereotypes for over two decades, and now you want to try and sabotage the most important moment in Black history since 1968, for some self serving advancement. F@ck you and your beloved Massa Clinton. Hope you die and go to White Heaven with Hitler, Ronald Regan & Bush, you A$$ kissin, house Ni@@a!
