With so many awards shows on the air, this one has become outdated, and many celebrities don't even take it seriously. There are so many networks who have larger budgets and audiences and opportunities for higher ratings. It is all about how many people are watching and whose performance will be the most memorable. If no one is watching, why should the celebrities even bother showing up? |

SO WHAT!!! The "soul" was mysteriously removed from Soul Train like 15+ years ago! It used to be a DREAM for entertainers to perform there. Now the sh** is just "watered down". I imagine that the Soul Train Awards show followed the orignal shows lead. I cant even remember the last time I watched either programs. |

i didnt watch caliente on univision but i watched it sometimes but im not a die hard fan of that show.

Soul Train was a great show but it had run its course. How many shows actually stay on TV for 22 years? It had a great run.
As for awards shows, there are way too many. NAACP, Soul Train, BET, VIBE, and another one was just recently started. Next we'll have the Black Planet awards. It's just too much and people are tuning out.
Also, some of the gangsta celebs not use to ceremonies, want to bring the street behavior into a formal environment.
Don Cornelius is old by now. Heck, he looked old toward the end of Soul Train, that's probably why he's not doing any interviews. Lena Horne stopped giving interviews in her late 80s. They don't want the public to see what they look like now. Remember Bette Davis giving interviews at 100! She looked horrible. |

I understand what you are saying but how far are we supposed to go when we are "supporting our people" FACE FACTS: Soul Train was watered down to appeal to a larger audience. It became whack and rather than adding the white audience to create a larger viewership, they excluded EVERYONE!

The end of an institution. It's really sad that Black recording artists are more concerned about Grammys or American Music Awards than Soul Train awards. Dick Clark don't give a f%ck about 50 Cent and neither does anyone on the Grammy committee. Don Cornelius started Soul Train to give Black music artists a platform in which to gain exposure to ensure some sort of longevity for their careers. He never discriminated against obscure or unknown artists and he gave them the same ability to shine as he gave platinum artists.
I sincerely hope that the Soul Train awards will return at some point. It's sad that we (as a race) do not respect nor protect what was created for us, by us, to help us flourish personally and professionally.

nobody even shows up to the Soul Train Awards.
They should have had another mature black man to host after Don.
It seemed like they wanted a young fresh face, and that didn't work to me.
..someone like Donnie Simpson, or even a Steve Harvey..someone older but still 'hip' could have kept this show relevant.

1st) Maybe if they rename "SOUL TRAIN" to "OTHER- THAN-SOUL TRAIN" they'd stand a chance.
2nd) Today's music sucks azz!

Oh well nobody was showing up anyway. And the last time i watched soul train was in like 2003. ITS JUST LIKE THEM TO NOT WANNA SHOW UP THOUGH. YOU ALREADY KNOW BEYAWNSLUT AND MARY J BITCH WAS NOT GONE SHOW UP CUZ THEY THINK THEY THE SH#T. Now i didnt know John Legend and Gnarls Barkley were A-listers. They really need 2 stop with that one cuz they are the lamest ones. |

Maybe it was cancelled coz almost every year a fight broke out?!? That show just gave white people somethin else negative to talk down on regarding black people, maybe a listers stopped showing up coz they didnt want their name in all that mess!!! |
