I'm sorry but I USED to live in Atlanta, and it i VERY OVERRATED! So I don't understand why someone felt the need tocome up with the idea to move the show there.I currently live in the Washington,D.C. metro area where Prince Georges County(better knon as PG Couty) in Maryland has the distinction of having the largest amount of wealthy African-Americans in the NATION. And Mediatakeut themselves as have Black Enterprise Magazine have put the DC Metro area ABOVE Atlanta as the best place to live for Blacks (going by pay scale, etc.)...so I feel this move to Atlanta for the show is in error. |

It is great to know that other black folks feel me. Even if their marriage didn't work out, at aleast they did it.
I just don't understand how people can commit to kids but not each other???? You can always divorce a man or a women, but not children. Raising a kid is far harder then keeping a marriage together. A children rely on their parents, but in a marriage, adults can rely on themselves if need be. They makes kids together and so called commit to being parents but can’t commit to their own relationship.
I hope I am not offending any of the baby mothers out there. I don’t mean it to bash anyone. I just feel that people need to think a little deeper before they pop kids out. And for all of the ladies that make excuses about them not being married bcz they don’t want to, that’s a lie. Most times when you hear a chick say that’s she is making an excuse on behalf of her BD. He wont commit or wife her, so she accepts it and acts as if she agrees with it.
But I am done on this Monica issue. I hope she gets married. I really like her and her, her man, and those children deserve better!

Thats NOT true. There are other races that do the same thing. I have two WHITE co-workers that have when in a 20-30 year relationship (or playing house as you say)with kids and they JUST got married. Latinos do it too, and so do many other races, but since we are BLACK, we get looked down upon for doing it. Marriage is not for everyone. you can be a housewife and not be married...i am housewife and my fiance wants to marry me but i will not get marrtied until i finish school.....being a ''single mother'' has allowed me to get loans and grants for school ,subsidised childcare and a whole host of other benifits i would not be eligible for if i was married...dont hate on monica...none of us know her situation......just b/c a couple is married does not mean they provide a good life for their kids or are happy themselves....my man brings that check home every two thursdays,is a good father and man ,we share a bank account and have insurance policies just in case something happens to one of us.....btw all these people scream marriage marriage marriage ,please ....that does not gaurantee that you and that man will be together forever,stay faithful to each other ,or take care of financial resposibilities... |

I dont acknowledge the term playing house because its ignorant! What I think is cool are two people married or not African American or not that are comitted to loving and raising their children to be the best that they can be. I dont think that starts with being married. I know more people who are unhappily married than people who are happily married. The divorce rate in this country is proof that just because your married it doesnt somehow increase your chances of anything!

obviosly you did not read my entire post...i said that as a single mother i am eligible for grants and loans and other programs...either way you are entitled to your opinion....you can call me goofy or stupid or whatever...like alot of young black women my pregnancy was not planned but my fiance and i decided to have our child....i am not broke or ghetto[whatever that means] and a young woman living my life...if me and my man fell out of love tommorrow we would part ways....what is the difference between a couple who were never married and break up and still raise their kids and a couple who gets divorced and still raise their kids together.....i will never get married to someone for the kids....i dont know if you are a parent or not but iv learned that kids thrive the best when their parents are happy and content....if you get married only b/c you have kids and not b/c you want to spend eternity with that person it is a recipe for disaster...and whether im married or not my fiance/babydady/man is home everynight and day with me providing a nice life for his kids.....we do what works for us and you do what works for you....i guess if i was white like brad/angie i would be considered progressive.....btw whats up shanny07...dont let the haters bother sis |

This topic has gotten out of hand. Who are we to judge if Monica is "ghetto" (which she isn't), and her choice to have two children with the same man without being married? I think this show willbe a good look for her and I don't think she will allow herself to be taken advantage of. Contrary to what some of you may believe, Monica is very intellegent and does have morals. She may have too many morals, that's why her career is as prominent as Beyonce and others, because she refuse to compromise. |

we have been judged for not being married by people in our everyday by a host of different peeps ....i know this woman who said we never have any good luck until we marry or that he would never be good to me fot the same reason...this same woman later learned that her husband whom she bragged about as if he was the second coming was paying his jumpoffs rent instead of paying the mortgage on the home they shared with teir 3 kids...this lead to them almost losing their home....when by the grace of god she was able to sell it instead of foreclosing she was forced to split the casdh with him b/c they were married....then instead of helping to support his kids with his half of the money he decided to buy himself a acura and his jumpoff a truck....then when she filed her taxes her accountant filed her and husbands together b/c they always had done so in the past....this lead child support take the return[yes hers and his] to pay the back child support he owed and refused to pay....i say this to say in this day and age marriage or the peace of paper binding 2 peopletogether means sqaut...the only thing in my opinion that is good for is logistics...i.e pensions,benifits and 401ks.....i am a full time student and parttime receptionist....on my pay i am able to pay just 60 dollars a week for childcare instead of 250 if i was married...you see when you are married they count you as well as your husbands pay...i am eligible for grants and loans and other educational subsidies being a singlew mother with no parents than i would be if i were married.....i dont know how or when you got your mba keepitreal183 but for me school is very expensive and im gonna get mine however i can...me and my man love each other and we will jump that broom when its the right time for us....we could get married tommorrow and he leave next week....marriage is not a gaurantee to anything....
