: MediaTakeOut.com has just learned that Mathew Knowles may be taking subtle jabs at his superstar daughter Beyonce. According to Sister2Sister magazine, Mathew explained to a sell out conference the secret to Beyonce's success. And according to Mathew - it has nothing to do with her singing talent.
Here's how Sister2Sister is reporting it:
[Mathew] said that he knows that he could go to any number of churches and hear countless singers who could outsing his superstar daughter Beyonce. But the difference is that his daughter was drivenNow maybe we're making too much out of this. But how are you gonna short sell Beyonce's singing ability.
Is it really that easy to find someone with more talent than her? And if it is that easy - should Mathew be putting that out there like that??
Do you win a prize for being first or in the top ten? We hope that everybody can count to ten. If you just want to count take a math class and try to be more educated than wasting your time being first. It just shows you have little intelligence. Anyway, Mr. Knowles is right. There are some beautiful women who sing in the church who never make it big. There are some who choose to sing for the Lord and nothing is wrong with that. It is a matter of choice. There are other who would like to make it big but do have the means or the resources to do so. I dont believe he is short selling his daughter. This is his opinion.

In my opinion, Mr. Knowles is being quite humble. He's explaining that there will always be better singers, models, artists, etc, but that Beyonce had a drive to succeed. That's all and I didn't read anymore out of his statement MTO.
Beyonce, with his help, has planned a very successful career. She didn't have any unplanned children or get married before HER career was established. Those are great business decisions if you want to succeed.
However, I believe she and JZ have carried it a bit too far by denying everything, including the santity of their marriage. It sounds like business as usual.
Mathew was not lying. Beyonce is not that great of a singer, and you CAN go to any church and find ladies who can sing better. I strongly doubt that he said that to bash his daughter. No parent who loves their child would do that. But I just think that he was saying that if you're driven, your drive can take you a long way, verses having talent and doing absolutely nothing with it.

MTO y'all are taking this out of context. He's right, there are tons of better singers out there than Beyonce, she just happen to get on the right track and they made something of her and her friends. He's not taking away from Beyonce's talent, but he is being realistic. Just because she is at the top of the music charts doesn't mean she is the best singer in the world, its just she is getting recognized for what she is doing.

He wasn't selling her out. He was getting on the young people at the conference for acting like they didn't care. He was trying to help them out. They were arriving late and he was going to choose one of them and give them a single or something like that and he said he could walk into a any black church and find someone who could sing better than Bey but the difference is she is driven etc. He was talking about how she lives and breathes what she does. It's not just about the singing. MTO is forever taking things out of context.

Sure there are alot of singers that sing better than her. That is why she had to create the attention getter business of "beyonce" as we know her today. Blonde fake wigs, pounds of make-up, skimpy tight outfits, nose-jobs, etc. She HAD to bring both SEX APPEAL (especially to the white audience in order to cross-over and really make it BIG), and a drive in order to market herself as a superstar. 1st off, what he said about her singing ability is the truth. Beyonce isn't a power singer. She can pull off a few notes, but most of the time it sounds like she's shrieking. She'd sound much better if she stayed in her range. Leave the power ballads to the big breasted girl's like Aretha, Patti and Jill. (The only exception to the big chested rule are Mariah and Whitney, everyone else needs to stop trying.)
And he's not taking a jab at his daughter. He's admitting that Beyonce is a finely crafted image and it's that image that draws fans to her. People aren't just buying her music, they're buying the persona she's created. I'm not a fan, but I can give the girl props because she (or her management) knows how to sell herself. That and she stays working. She knows she has to stay grinding if she wants to keep her place in the music scene. She's created a virtually unstoppable media machine and that's how she stays on top. There may be people with better vocal skills but not many have the drive it takes to stay in the public eye.

Just because a person in church decided not to pursue a career in singing but still sings in the church does not mean they are not or were not driven. Maybe they decided that type of life style was not for them. Maybe they enjoyed other thing or had other passions either it be a teacher, doctor, social worker or whatever their other strength maybe. Maybe they didn't have the right people in their life to keep their eye on the prize and focus like Mathew and Tina did Beyonce. Remember you don't choose the family you're born into so maybe some of those peolpe who do sing in the church with great voices were born into a family that didn't motivate or appreciate the value in singing. In my opinion, Beyonce was just lucky to be born into a family that had big dreams for her and were determined to make them come true. Her mother and father used their life experiences and education to see it through. So please do not look down on the people in the church who can sing especially if you don't know their situation or what their true passion is.

You said it. I do believe video killed the radio star, if some of you guys know this song. This was the first video on MTV. And ever since then, image has become more and more important. I'm not saying it wasn't before, ie: Motown, Little Richard, Elvis. But now it is too much veneer and not enough sustenance. I'm not a fan of Beyonce and I won't deny her talent, but I think a lot of people live through this girl, mostly because of her looks. I think if Patti or Aretha came out as young artist now, we would be talking about there looks. A few of us would still buy the albums. But we would not be able to fantasize about looking like them or being with them, even if they are singing the truth. Now a day, we use our imaginations less and less. I , myself , like to make up my own fantasies when I listen to music. We focus on these stars.

I've been saying the EXACT SAME THING for years, but I get labeled as a "hater." She is DRIVEN. There is no DENYING that. Beyonce has made it to where she is by hard work and smart business choices including sexy clothing, suggestive dancing, and catchy lyrics. It is not ROCKET SCIENCE! Since Destiny's Child hit the stage on Teen Summit, I didn't see anything exceptional, especially in comparison to En Vogue. Beyonce Knowles may go down in history for being 1 of the greatest performers, but she will never be remembered for having 1 of the GREATEST VOICES!
@ LetsBeHonest I feel what you're saying. Gospel singers are just as driven if not more. Their success has a lot to do with marketing and cross over appeal (like Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, and even Bebe and Cece Winans). I've heard a lot of criticism come their way, because it is "too secular." Yes, the music should be about the Gospel, but who doesn't want to sell albums as well? Many gospel artists want to be able to do both genres, but they risk losing some of their Christian fan base by doing secular, even though there is most likely more money.

@1morething: It's not about allowing the media in your business. They're in your business when you announce a mega-dollar business deal. The sanctity of marriage is something totally different. Announce it and be done with it. I didn't say announce it and have them come to your house for an interview. You'll notice the few celebs who don't announce they're married don't seem to have a strong foundation either and something seems unhealthy about it. Why deny you're a mother? As for Janet keeping her marriage a secret. There's more to that story. I agree with AllaboutmeWill, The man is telling the truth, talent can only get you so far. I feel sorry for those saying Beyonce only got far because of her family or skin color because you obviously are failures your self if you can't see the determination and drive she has put in her career. The fact of the matter is, her family was just supporting their child in fulfilling her dream, a role a lot of black parents seem to neglect based on these responses. People keep blaming Beyonce for what happened to Destinys's Child, but the truth is the other girls were not dedicated at all and if I was Matthew Knowles (who quit his job to manage the group). I would drop them too, there's no room for slackers. Hell look at them now, the only one that had a margin of success was Letoya Luckett and it took her years to recover simply because they had no drive. Some of ya'll need to stop hating because that is advise you can use in every aspect of life appreciate it.
Yeh this is true. He is being honest but drive is not it. Of course you will have a drive when u have daddy & mommy who are willing to sacrifice their careers to support their childs. A lot of those artist work their craft just as hard but also have to work a job to support themselves. Beyonce is blessed in that she has support in every area of her life- mentally, physically, etc. Now that she's married J thats the icing on the cake. Beyonce has a lot of stage presence, no she's not the best singer, but she has a presence about her that makes you want to look at her-you cannot deny that she is gorgeous. Add that with her singing (which is not bad) and her dance moves, she's a hot ticket. Sure, I've heard many singers that are better than Beyonce, but when I see Beyonce on a video or performing somewhere I look at it and that is because of her total package as a performer. @styles-p, I believe she was very admired before she started dating Jay-now that they are married (so people say) the attention is great because they're both celebrities. Again, she's hot right now and there's no denying it.

EVERYONE has a talent. It's the driven ones who succeed... Beyonce,Tina and Matthew paid their dues. Matthew had a vision and he put it to work. Now if people could see the business part, then you would understand Matthew and his statement. At least Beyonce didnt have to sleep with anyone to get where she is. That alone makes her a class act. Not many females in the industry can say that.

I don't know how old you are, but if you wanna see "out work" or a true work-a-holic, try looking at some of Janet Jackson's old concert footage from her Rhythm Nation album. I saw Janet in concert 18 years ago and Beyonce can't come close to that! The only thing Beyonce has over Janet or any other woman in the industry, is the ability to "out STRIP." Futhermore, if it's not choreographed, Beyonce can't do it. Hell, Ciara is a much better dancer! Ciara is a street dancer, who can freestyle dance anyone under the table. Everything Beyonce does, HAS to be rehearsed. She's strictly a studio performer as opposed to a freestyle performer.
