Because of the legacy of racism that has consumed life for the African-Americans for CENTURIES (slavery, rape, physical abuse, apartheid, just to name a few), it's hard for some of us to just say KUMBAYA and let's all get along and forget the past. And unfortunately, racism is still alive and well. This racism has led many African Americans to believe that African Americans MUST be inferior to non-blacks. That is why so many of the black posters on here think that the closer a person looks to white, the prettier they must be. Sad that the legacy of slavery has caused such self-hatred. Many African-Americans succumb to this self-hatred by believing if they only mate with non-blacks, their children will not only LOOK better, but BE better. So blacks think that dating non-blacks is a sign of finally arriving - blacks in the south (and sometimes in the North) were routinely threatened with all types of violence, lynchings and killed in many ways. Although black men are viewed as sexual kings, very few GOOD stereotypes exist for the african-american woman. Therefore, when we see african-american men buck these self-hating racial stereotypes and marry beautiful african-american women, we are quite pleased. Pleased that not all african-american men are self hating. Please that someone sees beauty in the African American woman. Please that not all people are brainwashed that ideal beauty is being white with blond hair and blue eyes.
I am proud of BLACK LOVE and HAPPY every time I see. You aren't going to get ANY apologies here! And PRAISE be to trooper to be proud of BLACK LOVE too! |

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I couldn't have said it better myself. It seems too many blacks are just comfortable about being ignorant about their own culture and history, while trying to be part of someone else's. All ways trying to speak Spanish or dance Salsa or talk about how their part Blackfoot or Cherokee. Negro Please! What's disconcerning is how they're probably laughed at, when their not around by their so-called friends for being so culturally pathetic. It's gotten so bad, people (especially Latinos) are comfortable making racist comments to our face. I remember walking behind a Hispanic girl and Black girl on 34th St in NYC last summer (I think they just exited Macy's) and I overheard the Hispanic girl talk about how her cousin got nappy hair and it's no wonder she ain't got a man. Mind you, the black girl had a weave and obviously no self-respect, since she laughed at this offensive comment. There's one at my job who repeatedly makes racist comments, but the black girls in the dept. don't seem to care. I just can't understand it. These same people, if you made a racist comment about Puerto Ricans or Dominicans they'd excommunicate you like the Catholic Church in the 1600's. Then they'd tell all their "folk" to throw you shade and most will, because they have pride in who they are. What's ironic, is when they encounter a black person (like me) who calls them out on their B.S (usually without any other blacks having their back), they act like your the one with the problem and look at you like you should be O.K with it, like the rest of your people.
Sometimes I feel like Larry Fishburne's character Dap in "School Daze" at the end.

As a beautiful black woman(not exaggerating), there were never any decent black male suitors. She was educated, good personality, damn good cook, and she worked hard. If you look around u, u will not see many MARRIED black couples. It's not as common as it should be. Especially when people have children together.That's all I'm trying to say. |
