: MANCHESTER, Tenn. - (AP) Kanye West's late night performance at Bonnaroo was delayed nearly two hours, angering the festival crowd who responded by chanting "Kanye sucks" and pelting the empty stage with glow sticks.
West had been scheduled to take the main stage at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival at 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning. While the sleepy thousands in the audience waited, a message on the jumbotrons told them West's show would be delayed until 3:15 a.m., and when that didn't happen, that he would start at 3:30. West didn't hit the stage until 4:25 a.m.
The delay was caused by problems setting up West's elaborate stage set, which included an interplanetary landscape of a wavy black platform with a slanted floor in the middle and a video screen above. West performed a spectacular galactic-themed concert complete with interaction with his spaceship, a disembodied female voice named Jane (a kind of sexier HAL).
Ken Weinstein, a spokesman for the annual festival held on a 700-acre site south of Nashville, said the delay was simply a matter of unloading the Pearl Jam stage (the band went an hour past its scheduled end time, playing until about 1:15 a.m.) and loading the West stage.
The festival, which boasted more than 150 acts spread out over four days, was otherwise very punctual. The West delay was all the worse because of its already very late schedule, and many campers lost energy before the concert and returned to their sleeping bags. Midway through his performance, the morning light showed that the crowd had dwindled substantially.
West had originally been slated to perform at 8:15 p.m. Saturday night, but requested a late night performance. At least in the first hour of his performance, West didn't address the crowd regarding the delay.
Later Sunday, the Bonnaroo crowd was still upset. Pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph led a "Kanye sucks" chant.
A spokesperson for West didn't immediately return a request for comment.
Kanye was at the B-Day Bash in ATL reppin his city (he was born in Atlanta). He performed "Put on for my city" w/ Jeezy--Now how real iz that! That's prolly why he asked for the last performance time 2. Ye/Usher/Akon all showed up, but ya boi Shawty Lo was takin ballsy jabs at TIP--who conveniently closed the show down. Plies could have kept his retarded lookn azz home tho.
The crowd was right even if he was on time with the show KANYE SUCKS!
@girliegirl87...There are a lot of celebrities who has lost loved ones that is a poor excuse. He knew that his mother was gone before he was booked for the concert. There are millions of people who has paid money to see his corny dressing @ss, he should take that into consideration and do the show ON TIME. People probably had to go to work the next morning or later on that day. If I was a Kanye fan and spent my money, I would have thrown a glow stick at his face while he was performing. Yo honestly, people on these blogs gatta be THE most hating-est people in the WORLD, NO ONE happened to touch on the fact that Pearl Jam, a band that people in Tennessee probably wanted to see perform over and over again, performed for an entire HOUR more than their alotted time. Now as a fellow promoter, as long as the crowd had enjoyed Pearl Jam in their alotted time and I knew that Kanye had a very elaborate stage setup I would have made sure that they we're off the stage at the right time to give Kanye reasonable time to set up and prepare for his performance...
Yall really need to start lookin at things from the other side, the first thing 80% of persons jumped on was "oh he whines too much", "he's got too much of an ego", and "oh yeah thats good for him" Why?... Because he gets money and isn't afraid to tell you?.. Well I'll hurt ya some more hater, he still got paid and you saying people throwing sh!t at him was good for him does not take ONE dollar out of his pocket...

I was at Bonnaroo and all I can say is by mid day Sunday the consensus of easily 8 million plus crowd was "FUCK_KANYE".
And all anybody wanted was for him to apologize for the delay or even say thanks to the Bonnaroo crowd.
Plus the stage delay is a lie. Dude was at the Hot 107.9 Bday Bash and dragged his ass to Tennessee late. I made the same journey from Atlanta and got there before his schedule performance.
Alright peoples...1st: that performance was at bonnaroo music festival which is a 3 day white folk festival where tickets cost between 2-300 bucks....damn right i would've booed! 2nd: its hot as hell out there cause its a outdoor festival so mofos was probably out there waiting from 8 or 9pm (just to c him perform at 12) then he come out at 4 in the morning? u can take ur funny style having ass back home for that homee...i usually go to bonnaroo, and if i was out there, it have been more then just glow sticks bein thrown!
How do you go on after a legend like Pearl Jam and screw up...Yeah I heard about the angry crowd and they have every right to be angry after they waited so long for him to show up...Who does Kanye think he is..I was actually hoping that his mom dying would change who he is inside..but that didn't change him..He's still the same arrogant bastard he always was....He doesn't realize that his fans can make him and break him..Also what God gives he can take away..So he needs to get on his knees and thank God for all he has and thank God for all the people that are around him..because in a matter of time all that can be gone
