Having said that, I would like to clarify my line of thinking when I made my comment. MTO is not the most credible source of news and current events, therefore, if I see a group of black women, who look no different than black women who live in America, then they are regular black folk to me just like I said. For all of the people who are getting all hyped up at the other commenters who are saying that the women in these pictures don't look African....why? They have a point. African Americans tend to have different features than African women because of our mixture with Native Americans and Europeans. If you all actually knew the different histories of our people, you wouldn't be getting angry. Maybe some of these people expect them to be Black as tar but some others probably understand that it would be hard to find an African American woman who looks like Alek Wek because she is pure African and her bone structure is a little different. Just because they say they don't look African, that has nothing do to with zebra skin, bald and naked. Africans come from different Ethnic groups, etc. so they are going to have different features than African Americans. Of course, look at Iman or the African girl who was on the most recent ANTM. They are light skinned but their features are very African. I haven't seen any African Americans who look like them. Not that their aren't any, but still.

I think that many people here should learn how to comprehend what they read. As far as I see, the person who originally stated that they do no look African did not mean to disparage them in any way. They made no mention about their looks, their complection, or "bones and zebras". Quit trying to be politically correct. Is there anyone in here that cannot distinguish an Ethipioan woman from an American? Can you not see the difference in facial structure from a Ghanian from an American? I know that as a West Indian, I can often tell when someone else is from the Caribbean just by looking at them. Don't assume that people are not intelligent because they don't agree with you. While it is true that African Americans are a blend of different races, do you actually think that racial mixing didn't occur anywhere else? Ethnicity does not qualify as a race. If so, then our spanish speaking friends would have to pick a side, now wouldn't they?
Africans, regardless of their "ethnicity" have always come under fire by Western society because of their non-European looks. And by the way, your limited contact with our community doesn't qualify to categorize African American features. I know plenty of women who resemble Alek Wek. And i am sure their are brothers and sisters in the Sudan who look like "Uncle Leroy." And yes, I've been there to see with my own eyes. (I went to Saudi Arabia and swore I saw my Uncle Harry... but I digress)
Just because you have read "a" book on our history, doesn't make you an expert. From the comments left on MTO, it is more than evident that the psychological and sociological impacts of the westernization African Americans has damaged the latter' opinion of the mother land. Some of you guys are so ignorant, i am was born and grown in Jamaica and I am light skinned , can you guys tell by looking at me that i am not a Jamaican or from the Caribbean ? In Africa you have white people and black people and when these two races are combined you get mulattoes. Thus,no one can solely judge someone by their physical features and assume where they are from. read a damn book!
Features come from G_d not man. Stop saying what has been taught. If you go to the musuem in any European place even UK, you will find white people hve big noses and flat noses without race mixing. Black people in Africa even without race mixing have straight noses and thin lips. We need to stop living in racism. We also need to leave the books and the racist descriptions alone. Like I said you are who you are by G_d not by man. Black women carry the DNA of every race that is on the earth that is why it is hard to match her DNA for stem cell transplants.
