: MediaTakeOut.com has just caught wind that actress Gabrielle Union is speaking out about a traumatizing event in her life.
During a recent interview with Page Six magazine Gabrielle Union told the following:
As a 19-year-old college student, she was raped at gunpoint and beaten beyond recognition during a night shift working at a Payless ShoeSource. “I blanked out and had an out-of-body experience, like I was hovering above seeing this horrible thing happen to someone else—not me,” says Gabrielle, who got through the trauma partly because of an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show she had seen days before on victims of violent crimes.That's pretty brave of her to open up about something like that. We have a whole new respect for her ...After her ordeal, she immediately turned to UCLA’s Rape Treatment Center. “It gave me my life back,” she says. “My dignity and self-esteem were gone and they helped me find them again.
That’s why I now lobby for state legislatures across the country to help raise funds and awareness for rape crisis centers, and I speak to college girls about what happened to me. My goal is to never hear the words ‘me too’ from someone after I say ‘I was raped.’ ”
I respect this about her.
All this does is make me more and more disgusted about the lying hoes who claim they get raped to get a payday or get revenge.
I've known many a female who have lied and admitted they've done so for one or the other and it's sicken. Rape isn't a joke or a tool used like pregnancy to get rich quick. It shouldn't be joked about and it's good she's taking a stance on getting awareness out for those who've actually had the misfortune.

This is the reason why people need to stop raising their sons with the mentality that "boys will be boys" or " a man wont respect you if you don't respect yourself" and "a hoe cant be raped" all of these beliefs create a culture in a community of male privilege . People have to ALWAYS be against rape, regardless of what she was drinking, wearing, saying, sexing, etc. When you justify the rape of one woman, you make it that much easier for all women to be raped.

It is your ignorance and belief in male privilege that allows for rape to happen. Rape is the deliberate taking of another's persons body and using it for your own sexual and power pleasure. Whether or not you are promiscuous has nothing to do with rape. The idea that men should not exercise self control comes from people like you who then pass it down to their sons, who turn out to be rapist.
I understand that some people are unable to formulate intelligent logical responses in order to explain something that goes against the norm of society, it is obvious you are one of those people.

Gabby has shared this story before...I remember how she said that she fought not only for her dignity and self-esteem, she literally fought for her life.
