I can see Kanye's arrogance is going to set him down the same path as 50 Cent. His core fanbase is starting to tire of his primadonna bullshyt. I cut him some slack, because he just lost his moms, but he needs to fall back with all the self aggrandizing comments and actions. When people genuinely like an artist as a person, if you put out a lackluster album they might give you a pass. However, if you're an arrogant, A-Hole wrapped-up in your fame, they will throw you overboard faster than a dead sailor.
Like 50, the personality traits that made them both successful artist, is ultimately going to be their undoing. Jay-Z is arrogant, but not overbearing with it. That is why he's still in the position he's in. Contrast that with that arrogant @sshole Damon Dash and his rapidly declining status in the hip-hop game after he and Jay-Z/Rocafella disbanded. People tolerated his simple @ss, because of Jay-Z and the success of Rocafella and Rocawear. Now that's gone, people have no reason to endure him and his "legend in his own mind" schtick. |
