: MediaTakeOut.com got its hands on the first promo for Bravo's new show - the Real Housewives Of Atlanta. By the looks of this promo - this show can go one of two ways.
We're not too sure that these chicks are interesting enough for us to watch more than one episode, but we'll see....
In case you're interested - here's what makes these women "rich":
Sheree Whitfield Single socialite Whitfield, a resident of the exclusive Sandy Springs area of Atlanta, juggles her busy home life with a packed social calendar. Every site I go on and see this topic people keep referring to this as the ghetto season and this one belongs on BET and not Bravo and I never saw the housewives so I would not know how it is so different. But these ladies seem okay to me. But oh well it’s probably because I never seen the other seasons lol. Not too interested in this type of stuff. But it could be cool.
Wow no one has even given the show a chance...It hasn't premiered yet...Some of you should rethink your position and wait until you atleast see one episode...Remember, if it turns out to be positive and is not successful, it hurts the chances of seeing more of us in positive roles on television...
Alot of you are quick to run to the Asian beauty supply stores and support them and these White designers but when it comes to your own, you don't want to even give it a try...unless it's something awful and coonish like Flavor of Love...
Yeah Lexia I was wondering that too. I always use to think why on some reality shows they only have like at most two Black people and the rest white but now I see. With the comments people left on this cast I see how people think and it goes both ways because the comments I heard on other sites I never thought I would come on MTO and see people saying the same thing. I thought it was maybe that those people were racist but coming on here and seeing what people say I was like whoa maybe people are just not feeling the cast or maybe they are not rich enough for them lol I do not know. But I also heard a lot of complaints that they were not even living in Atlanta but I understood that point but not the name calling and stuff I definitely did not understand that.
Whats with the damn fake hair??? CAn black women(noottt all black women) leave the house without halloween wigs? Look sistas, if you can't leave the house without these corny ass hairdo's you really got very low selfesteem. Any brother that enjoys women with fake [EXPLETIVE] they also have major issues. I would like to think black women wouldnt have to do all that just to be beautiful but I may be wrong.
I agree with Sashany, what is up with the single baby mamas on the show, it is titled "REAL HOUSEWIVES". And reading Decriptions, the last one is the only one REALLY doing her thang! (although that wouldn't make her a HOUSEWIFE right?) Maybe the stars will come later and they are a first run? I will not watch it because I am not into reality shows, not because I am not supporting my race. I like to watch things that I can actually use in life like house decorating and gardening. Just my thoughts....
You know, people are really killing me...What's up with the fake hair? Ask ALL of Hollywood that same damn question...Geez...If that is all you can come up with for not watching the show, then just don't watch any movie or show regarding Black women or hell just movies period because all of Hollywood wear extensions/weave at some point in time...
Oh and let me just add, I do agree that people should chill with all the over-kill of weave...But let's keep it fair...Halle, Gabby, Sanaa, Tyra, Rihanna, Ashanti, Beyonce, and yes Alicia Keys too, are all Black women who wear it as well...No need to single these women above out and try to belittle them because of it...
*Wonders if what I'm thinking will start a race war on a Sunday*
Oh what the heck...
So far they've done this show in two locations. Orange County and New York. NO BLACK PEOPLE were on the prior two seasons. Now they go to Atlanta...black capital of the world and just had to stick a white woman in there? There was no other black, successful, person who could've came in 5th slot? Not only that, but she looks so out of place.
@ Conscious I saw the New York One. I remember one chick was hella different from the others. I couldn't remember what it was that made her diff.
But thx now I do lol. The Beth chick wasn't married. I thought she was the only one who didn't have kids but she was married.
But I'm just saying, if you're gonna give the show a title stand by it. At least the women who are divorced were once married. I'm guessing they have the single and divorced women on to give the show difference.
All of these people that have something negative say, I can tell you this much...The IRR threads regarding NBA players are coming tomorrow...And don't NONE of you get p!ssy about it...
Chris Webber had his annual Bada Bling Gala event over the weekend and some of the players had nonBlack dates...And rest assured, MTO will spot-light them...
You all don't know how to be supportive of each other...None of you have even seen ONE episode of this reality show and already being negative...Don't ever ask where are the brown or dark-skinned sisters...Or where are the thick/sisters with meat on their bones...It's obvious you really don't care to even see what these people are about...smdh
Another thing who gives a fucck about weave, they all have weave including the white girl!
and on the house wives of Orange County, one of the mothers was a SINGLE MOTHER when that series started, I didnt see any of you complaining about that.
It's so sad that the most racism that I have seen has came from my own race! *sigh*
@CaramelSunday, exactly...That is why I said what I said...But these same foolish people will get a cold harsh dose of reality, tomorrow, Monday morning, when MTO posts the pics of the NBA'ers with nonBlack dates or gf's...
I'm about damn tired of some of the sickening shyt these people say in reference to eachother...They get mad when they see a light-skinned chick or a nonBlack chick on a baller's arm or when the chick is skinny...Here you have brown/dark-skinned women and some with alot of thickness, and these mofos STILL aren't satisfied...
I say phuck it...Hey I have no issues getting Black men or getting noticed...I've just been trying to fight for equality for my sisters, but they are too stuck on stupid to fight for themselves...
DON'T GET IT TWISTED OR CONFUSED. THEY DO NOT LIVE IN THE CITY OF ATLANTA. THEY ARE FAT SUBURBAN SOCCER MOMS AND HOW F_U_C_K_I_N_G BORING IS THAT.
BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY THEY ARE AFRAID TO BE IN ATLANTA.
IF WANT A REAL ATLANTA WIFE WITH SUBSTANCE GO TO CASCADE HEIGHTS, ATLANTIC STATION,ELLENWOOD, KIRKWOOD,GRANT PARK,BUCKHEAD,MIDTOWN,
OUTSIDE ATLANTA COLLEGE PARK, EASTPOINT,DEKALB COUNTY
Ok, I haven't seen this show, so I'll comment on what I do see:
I see a bunch of women with names like Sheree, NeNe, and DeShawn looking like they're on a weave infomercial. Oh and one of them actually said "funner."
You're right... I don't see any stereotypes at all. Move along folks, nothing to see here...
LOL Funny...Weave? Oprah Winfrey wears weave...and ummm Oprah isn't a very popular name either and I dare any of you silly people try and call her ghetto?
And yes one did say funner, but funny how you conveniently left out the fact that the one next to her corrected her...
Your current president of the United States didn't know Black people lived in Brazil...
But continue on shooting yourselves in the foot...That is why alot of you will grow to be miserable and lonely...So quick to put others down, especially of your own race...
ButtaBaby, they just want to find a reason to NOT watch this show...and furthermore, to shyt on the South...Hating ass insecure females are never happy...I'm done...Phuck'em...MTO, Post more pics of Kim Kardashian and other non Black women on here...Black women don't love Black women so no need in posting stories about them...And then they have the nerve to call every Black single Black male who date non Black women self-hating or sell-outs...Negro please.
i think it is very sad that these black women are referred to as *GHETTO*. How are wealthy black women possibly ghetto?
Whats worse is black women on this site are the MAIN PEOPLE shooting down the show. Finally a positive potrayal of black woman & your concerned about their weave??
God forbid a story about a light skinned, thin, or white person is posted. Black woman who are insecure start posting hateful mad comments.
How dare you do the same for your own people?
I'm confused WTF makes black women happy n e more
Narjis, when you find out, let me know...
I hope MTO NEVER delete this thread...To remind these simpletons of their hate against eachother...Bytching over some damn weave knowing dayum well they've been to church and been around some old ladies with wigs, and hell these people on here probably got some weave in their heads now...
Damn near every BW that get posted on this site wears weave...Hell and the White ones too....I am utterly disgusted at this really. And some of them have the nerve to say "Why BM don't love us"...Shyt YOU don't love YOU...How can you expect someone else to...Nobody got time for that mess...
i thought the premise was for the women to be married...come on...i wanna see a bunch of high society hoes with too much time on their hands and too much of their husbands money to spend...just a bunch of gossip and cattiness and not a bunch of lames playing high society for the camera...the orange county seasons (and they were in my opinion (and obviously bravos as well) the only ones interesting enough to have more than 1 season) were the best...new york sucked & i can guarantee this will be worse than that...give miami a try....& MTO, what ever happened to monica being on the show...yall did say that, right??? monica would never degrade herself and be associated w/these fakes
That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. This STILL looks like a weave-fo-mercial... and yes that goes for the white girl too.
If I want to see an example of a positive black woman on TV, I'll look out for Michelle Obama... that would be much "funner" to me.
Some damn defensive, sensitive people up in here...
Wow here we go again....Why is it that black women always get picked on for wearing fake stuff...If we had a poll white women would be the number one winner for wearing fake sh*t. Yes they are wearing weave...but do you know how many white women wear weave also...I know tons..just because they white, don't mean they were born with long silky hair..You know how many white women I see on a daily basis telling me they going get something surgically done to their body...From botox to lipo 2 breast implants. you don't see 2 many blk females concern with plastic surgery... As for black men not liking us its because 1.The strength of a black woman 2.The independency of a black woman 3.The fact that black women speak up for themselves 4.The confidence and pride that a black woman walk around with 5.and many, many more positive things But notice that the few things I shared with you all are the ones that intimidate the black man the most. If we speak up for ourselves they consider us as being ghetto and loud. The black men I've dated in the past could not deal with me being successful in my job. I was dedicated on goal oriented. They knew they couldn't hold me back. They want someone to walk over and someone that's easy going... well that's not me... Hell No I'm not Becky from down the street.. I'm not gonna be the one that's at home while my husband is in the club.. Example:Taye Diggs (Never will I know why he married a women that looks like a witch and have a Jaw line like a dude)
Anyways.. Of course the media is gonna feed us trash...but its up to us when to say no..Get out of your neighborhood and go places..see how people live.. TV is just for entertainment...For the stupid people that believe what they see on TV is dumb.. These ladies got dough so of course they gonna have a couple of houses in different states... This show seems interesting and I cant wait to watch...Just don't judge the book by its cover..wait and see...Read and watch..
I didn't say it wasn't your opinion...And funny you mentioned Michelle Obama, don't count her to do any reality shows anytime soon...She has already said her priority will be raising her daughters...
And another thing, don't forget this is MTO, mainly used as a celebrity blog and to post a bunch of negativety regarding Blacks but yet you can spend your time on here...but you say you want positivety right? lol Okay...
You can call it being sensitive or defensive all you want, but just know in the future when there are lack of Black women, positive Black women(these women were not chosen out of the hood to appear on this show buddy) that you had your opportunity to change that...That is all...
This is WRONG on so many levels. If you could watch Season 1 (with the plastic wanna be Barbies) & 2 (the NY version with the wrinkled & crinkled White women acting snobby), you can definitely give this a try.
And, if no one watches, GUESS WHAT? This will give Bravo an excuse to NOT put Blacks on reality TV. Then, ya'll will be fussing that only "Whites" are given the opportiunity for legitimate shows (unlike the coonery on VH1)or you will say that "Blacks with European features" get a chance to represent Black America. SMDH
Didn't the bible say "A foolish man is unstable in all of his ways." Foolish MTO bloggers!
@lexia...I said "Obvious" Fake Barbie Doll Hair. The other ladies are also wearing weaves, But hers Fake, Like I said. Iam entitled to my opinion. Why are you defending this chick? do you know her? Please spend your time on someone else, Boo cause Iam not the one. "Hater Free Zone" I'm Grown, "My World" Not Yours. And please Don't Respond. Case Closed
@lexia...Before you made your personal attack on my me, I did'nt know you even existed. so I checked you out. Boo, are very opinonated, and very, very confused. You have the symbol of Black Power, yet you are defending this WHITE CHICK!??? You critizize other Blacks, for not being sensitive to other Blacks, yet you come for me? You seem Bitter, Angry, Frustrated' Lonely, with too much time on your hands! Do you wear a weave? Because your are truly defensive about it. Girl I have Dr. Phil on speed dial, Do you want to give him a call? Fallback Miss Thing.
@twanali, What a dumbass you are...To my knowledge, I never addressed you...Never even knew you existed...You sound like a damn fool...You may be the one who needs to call Dr. Phil...And no I am NOT wearing a weave...My hair is naturally long and thick...But I won't belittle someone else for wearing one...
Maybe most of my general comments struck a nerve with you? And what White chick was I defending? What in the hell are you even talking about?? Seems like to me, you are the one who is confused since I clearly do not even remember typing to your ass...Now you fall back tranny...
And thanks for doing the research on me...Makes me feel special.
@lexia...You perpetrate like you are so socially concious. And the 1st thing you do is start off name calling. Very immature. I'm not going to stoop to your level going back and forth with you, trading insult. Because it seems like you thrive on seeking attention. Don't try and use my words, get your own vocabuary. You can't even remember what you wrote. I'm Grown, I don't have to justify to you want I watch. You need to get a life. Or is MTO your life. Get some "Class" and then maybe, I will allow you to address me. Until...FallBack B**ch
That pic reminds me of Cookie Monsters song:
One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong, Can you tell which thing is not like the others By the time I finish my song?......
Anyway, good for them. I'll watch the show. Good to see successful black women (et al), weaves or not
I/'m tired of hearing weave jokes....it a hair style....people move on..... It is sad that we are so critical of our own peeps. Why? Can/'t we just be supportive. Black does not equal ghetto. We need to retire that word. Why are we so hard on these ladies - did you not see the previous shows - they have the same lives that the other OC and NY women had. Those women married money. Getting back to the weaves......is it me, I saw three of women with weaves (NeNe, Dashawn and maybe Kim) and it didn/'t look whack. Lisa is 1/2 chinese so that is her hair and the same for Sheere. Just because a black women has long hair doesn/'t mean it a weave. How many black stars have weaves. We must move on from this demeaning antics. The last couple of post were from two people of color going back and fourth with name calling. Let/'s stop the madness. Learn to love and support each other and not put each other down. As a people we say we///'ve come along way but after reading some of this blogs......we still have a long way to go. We are so hard on our on race and nobody made a comment abouth the blog from a white girl who keeps call all the girls fat! Lisa, Sheere aren/'t fat- the rest of the ladies aren/'t fat either, they could tone up alittle or may that is the way their men might likes it. Please stop the Pain......
I say to all the people thinking about moving here to Atlanta, STAY WHERE YOU'RE AT!!!!
I'm getting tired of so many people moving here and trying to claim my city!!!....Yea, I said my city and every other Atlanta/Georgia native that was actually born and raised here that have the right to call this city ours!
People trip me out how they come from another state or better yet from another region and try to act like they been here all they life!....Pack your sh!t and get outta town!....That go for males cause yall ain't no real Georgia Boys and for females cause yall ain't no real Georgia Peaches!!!!
