: LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian Bernie Mac has been hospitalized for pneumonia in Chicago but is expected to be released soon, his publicist said on Friday.
Mac, 50, suffered from sarcoidosis, a tissue inflammation, but his publicist, Danica Smith, said his illness has been in remission since 2005 and the bout of pneumonia is unrelated.
"Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon," Smith said in a statement.
"He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well," she said.
Mac, a comedian who has always stayed close to his native Chicago, starred last year in the films "Ocean's Thirteen" and "Transformers," and in "The Bernie Mac Show" on the U.S. television network Fox from 2001 to 2006.
Mac was nominated for two Emmys and two Golden Globes for his performances in "The Bernie Mac Show."

Get well Bernie and take car of your body. My friend's mother suffers from sarcoidosis and every now and then she coughs up scarring from her lungs. And it doesn't help that she smokes...smh

I LOST BOTH AN AUNT & AN UNCLE TO SARCOIDOSIS. ITS A VERY SERIOUS DISEASE THAT IS MOST COMMONLY ASSOCIATED WITH LUNGS BUT IT CAN SPREAD TO ALL THE OTHER MAJOR ORGANS OF THE BODY. THEY ARE NODULES THAT ADHERE THEMSELVES TO THE MAJOR ORGANS & SHUTS THEM DOWN ONE BY ONE. THE MOST COMMON TREATMENT OF CHOICE IS STEROIDS,WHICH DO TEND TO CAUSE BLOATING. IT CAN ALSO CAUSE FREQUENT BOUTS WITH PNEUMONIA. THERE IS NO KNOWN CURE FOR SARCOIDOSIS. I PRAY THAT MR. MAC RECOVERS FROM THIS LATEST BOUT SOON.

That girl, Chi (from the flavor of love 3) said her mom died from sarcodosis. that seems like some SERIOUS sh*t. With all the garbage and fumes the government and companies put into the air its no wonder that people are ending up with these weird azz diseases...
