: For months MediaTakeOut.com has been hearing whispers that Wyclef Jean of the Fugees may be having some financial difficulties. Now for the first time, we're seeing evidence of that. According to the Palm Beach Post, the bank has seized a home that Wyclef was having built in Miami.
Here's an excerpt of the report:
The former guitarist of The Fugees borrowed $2 million from Home Equity Mortgage Corp. in 2004.And to all you MediaTakeOut.com readers looking to take advantage of Wyclef's current financial troubles, the home will be auctioned off Dec. 12 in downtown Miami. Not sure how much it's worth, but our advice ... BID LOW!!!He wanted to rebuild a canal-front home next door to Kennedy clan stalwart Anthony Shriver, Maria’s little brother.
But a series of construction liens filed since then shows the Pine Tree Drive project was burdened by a heap of financial trouble...
In 2008, the project’s architects put a lien on the property, according to court files. They’ve been trying to get their $75,000 since 2004.
In all, Jean’s corporation now owes the bank $2.4 million, according to the judgment.
THIS IS JUST GREED WYCLEF HAS A HUGE MANSION IN NEWJERSEY SO WHY WAS IT NECESSARY TO BUILD THIS HOUSE IN MIAMI....HE SHOULD HAVE GIVEN MORE TO THOSE STARVING PEOPLE IN HAITI THAN TO BUILD ANOTHER HOUSE HE DIDN'T NEED.......ALL THESE PEOPLE DO IS BUILD MORE AND MORE HOUSES AND NOT FEED THE POOR THEIR OWN PEOPLE...HE DOES NOT GIVING ENOUGH TO THOSE STARVING HAITIANS...
I AM NOT SURE I BELIEVE THIS .I JUST READ IN ESSENCE WHERE HE SENDS A LOT OF MONEY BACK HOME (HAITI). GETTING READY TO BUILD A SCHOOL. WE CAN'T ALWAYS BELEIVE HOW MTO PUTS OUT NEWS THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON WHY SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENDS .MTO NEVER TELLS THE WHOLE STORY. HE IS NOT BROKE I KNOW THAT.
Entertainers make good money...they're not educated enough to know what to do with it...the first piece of money they get, they run out and buy some big ass house, without thinking about property taxes, heating and cooling expenses for that monster of a house...they just fucc up their money, and be the laughing stock of those exclusive neighborhoods when they can't afford to keep up...entertainers better know this...there is always someone better, stronger, and more successful than them that will kick they ass off the throne...here today...dayum sure gone tomorrow...they better save that dayum money and get somewhere and sit the fucc down...
Have to co-sign w/ Prettyface, this is ridiculous, they need to educate themselves and not depend on their managers. Pay for at least one moderate home so you will have somewhere to go if times get hard then you can move up to something more elaborate later if you like. This is too much. Sign your own checks people!!!!!
Jean's charity to help Haitians has failed to file tax returns for eight years. 1.) Yele Haiti (Wyclef Jean Foundation)
Former Fugees member Wyclef Jean's charity aims to address educational, environmental and emergency-relief issues in his native Haiti. It has a slick Web site and financial support from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie but has not filed a US tax form since 2000. An insider at the charity told The Post that where the money goes in Haiti is a mystery, or if part of the haul went to purchase a television station in Port-au-Prince. Charity President Hugh Locke said, "We are in arrears in our filing." He said that large donations go directly to projects in Haiti, where the organization is registered as a charity. He said the missing IRS documents would be filed by the end of the year. The forms are required to allow them to receive donations that can be tax deductible and to avoid paying taxes on their donations. The charity also has not completed the required New York state registration, according to Attorney General's Office records. Meanwhile, Jean owes the state of New Jersey $183,172 in personal income tax, a sum Jean's spokesman said last month the singer was in the process of paying.

Notice this is just ONE home that has been foreclosed on. Don't think this man has no other homes in which he has made solid investments. The thing is - he is not a singer - and as long as he can contribute and produce and write for others, he can keep somewhere to live - just perhaps not THIS house. Don't get it twisted people - the guy ain't broke!
