Chicago police said today they have arrested William Balfour for the murders of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson's family members.

Balfour, 27, has been in custody in Stateville Correctional Center on a violation of parole and was "transferred to Chicago police custody" after police "served a warrant for his arrest" Monday. He was then transported to the Wentworth Area, where he will be held pending charges approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.

At a closed hearing last month, investigators presented evidence that Balfour had a gun matching the weapon used in the Oct. 24 slayings of Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

Balfour is the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, Julia. He was scheduled for another parole violation hearing on Wednesday

Well chitownbaby they could be warming it up for William but I have not forgotten about the other things that have been revealed about this case and this family like, the money troubles, the drug raid, Jason's shooting, Julian's first husband and his drug dealer/gang activity.

i'm not really sure but, i know that when he was first arrested the cpd held him for 48 hours which is the limit you can hold a suspect without giving providing them with their right to an attorney so the cpd transferred him to the state of illinois prison system for a parole violation which gave them a little more leeway with the attorney rights.

balfour was up for another review of parole violation come dec. 3rd and he had a good chance of being released. the cpd probably had to officially charge him to keep that from happening. once he was re-arrested, his right to an attorney probably kicked in again. now the police are forced to show the evidence they have against him or release him. but that is just my opinion from reading the newspaper reports since the murders occured.

What is the motive here. I am not sure I am buying this. Usually cops are quick to try and close a case, and they will pin it on anyone.

He had been in their custody this long. Why confess now. I know he has an attorney/public defender/whatever, and if he hasn't talked then they can't charge him with anything. Unless this confession was coerced out of him. I have to see the evidence first. Cops are always quick to throw black people in jail-no matter who it is.

TROOPER THIS WAS ALL IN THE POLICE PLAN. THEY KEPT HIM AT THE STATE PRISON ALL THIS TIME. THEY NEVER DID SAY WHAT PAROLE VOILATION HE DID. THAT'S BECAUSE IT WASN'T ONE. I think the reason they have a hold on the death penalty in Chicago is because a few years ago, the mayor of Chicago found out that there were a lot of innocent people being cleared of crimes through DNA. Before he left office the mayor put a freeze on the death penalty because the system was so corrupt. It's sad that the one who do deserve to die, won't. Bring him to Florida, we don't use "Sparky" anymore but I think we still do the lethal injection. Or take him to Texas, or any other southern state.

Report: Balfour Has Confessed To Hudson Murders Charges Against Jennifer Hudson's Estranged Brother-In-Law Expected As Soon As Later Tuesday CHICAGO (CBS) ¯ William Balfour, the estranged brother-in-law of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, has reportedly confessed in the murders of Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

As CBS 2's Joanie Lum reports, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday morning that Balfour admitted to a witness that he had been responsible for the shootings.

CBS 2 News has learned that charges against Balfour could be filed as soon as later Tuesday. Balfour was arrested at Stateville Correctional Center on Monday in the deaths of Darnell Hudson Donerson, Jason Hudson, and Julian King, according to police News Affairs Director Monique Bond

He's done when he gets to prison. They don't take kindly to child killers. He's going to end up being a Miss Balfour when they are done with him.

..and to be honest I don't think he committed the crime but I do believe he was at the scene of the crime when it went down. I think whoever did it was unattached to the family based on the fact that it was a multiple murder and that Balfour is an accessory or is aiding and abbetting. Whatever the case is he's done and so it the other dude who is about to get ratted on.

William Balfour, the main suspect in the Hudson family murders, reportedly told his current girlfriend that he was involved in the tragic crime. He also admitted to being inside of the Hudson’s home on the morning Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson were shot and killed. Little Julian King was found shot twice in the head in the back of a Suburban three days later

This case is just suspect to me. He didn't confess, and according to one article I read he denies involvement and has an alibi for the day and the time of the murder. The sister is suspect to me, she didn't seem like she was mourning taking pictures with Fantasia and being on myspace everyday. There is a lot more to this story and it will surface.

I do think that William is guilty, but I don't think that he did the killing all alone. Maybe, he really didn't kill them, but I do think that he know who did it. It's just hard to say now a days. Since the Chicago Police Investigators do a shitty job, investigating shyt. But I definitely wouldn't put it past William though. The truth shall come to light, sooner or later. I honestly don't know what to believe, but I sure hope they find whoever did that to them.

Today on the radio, Wendy Williams said she thinks there may be pressure from Obama's camp to get this solved quickly. She said people may have the attitude, if Obama couldn't clean up the streets of Chicago, how can we expect him to clean up the country, or something to that effect.

I will say this, this is a high profile case and because Jennifer Hudson has become “America’s Sweetheart” people want to see justice served and they want it served quickly. But justice is not always swift and I don’t want to see an innocent man sent to prison for the rest of his life or possibly executed because the police rushed the case and didn’t follow other possible leads or motives. I also don’t want the truly guilty party or parties to get away with this.
