: MediaTakeOut.com just learned that NFL's Plaxico Burress is not the only New York Giants may have had reason to be carrying a ratchet last Friday night.
According to a new report, Plaxico's teammate - Giants wide receiver Steve Smith was the victim of an armed holdup in his driveway three nights earlier - on November 25th.
Police claim that Smith was approached from behind at approximately 4 a.m. by an unknown assailant who pointed a gun at Smith’s head and said, “Give me all you got.”
Smith, who lives in a gated community, turned over an unspecified amount of cash and jewelry to the gunman - who has yet to be apprehended.
And according to one of MediaTakeOut.com's snitches close to members of the Giants, .it was this incident that caused Plaxico to carry a loaded gun with him last Friday night.
As MediaTakeOut.com reported over the weekend, the firearm accidentally discharged - shooting Plaxico in the leg. Plax has been charged with illegal weapons possession and is currently out on bail.

With all that money he got he could have hired a security personnel or at least gotten a licensed gun but once again no matter how much fortunes they acquire, dumb thugs are all they are ever going to be. I agree. Nobody walks around with money anymore. I got jacked at gunpoint one night, I had 2 dollars and a bunch of credit cards in my wallet. The next morning the wallet was in my mailbox with everything except the 2 singles. LOL. I'm like, damn y'all could have looked in it at the time and just gave it back to me.

Sadly I agree with the people who said this is a poor excuse.
I can say this, he better move because the media was very disrespectful and negligent to show his residence on television. If he feared being robbed they have just given him more of a reason to be worried. I live two towns over from where he resides. It is a small town and his home wouldn't be difficult to find.

On this incident I kinda feel bad for him. Why don't these people just get gun permits. I know New York and the rest of the North has crazy gun laws because of the high crime rate, but it's hard to believe that you can get in that much trouble for carrying a gun without a permit. Of course, I'm from Florida, where that would never happen. I think you could get a misdemeanor or something, but not go to jail. That is, if you don't have a criminal record. If you have a record, then you're getting locked up, because felons aren't allowed to own guns.

If you have to carry a gun to the place you're going to be hanging out, you probably shouldn't be there. Listen this is a Free Damn World.... well for now. And its our right to carry Guns to protect ourselves. When i played Pro Football for the NFL, most of us carry Guns for our protection and Management knew about it also pls. Haten azz aiggas will always try to rob u when they know u got it. Been that way for yrs. Protect yourself bcuz like some, i got a lot to lose.
That's some chedder-Bob type [EXPLETIVE]. 35 million you should hire a bodyguard. In fact if I had that type of paper I would have someone on staff for like 100,000 a year that is just a live in bodyguard. He'll be military trained, 6'5 or taller, 250 pounds+, licensed gat holder, maybe even a bage of some type. His job would be to make sure I wake up safe, stayed safe throughout my day and night, and finally when I came home or to a hotel before I put my head to the pillow he would secure everything and then lock me in for the night. He would also be my driver.
Plax has never been the brightest bulb in the batch. When he was in Pittsburgh playing for the Steelers, his girl's brother and his boys ran up in his crib and got him for $$ and jewelry. It was well known she was the one who told them when he came & went-- these dudes were the same hood dudes she was creeping with behind his back, letting dudes drive the car he bought her and all. He knew what was going on, and what he do?? He married the girl! He probably carry the gun to protect himself from her & her people
