R&B singer Houston, whose full name is Houston Summers IV, reportedly gouged out one of his eyes after a failed suicide attempt in a London hotel. MTV.com reports that last Thursday (January 27), the singer attempted to commit suicide by jumping off of the hotel balcony but was stopped by his security team. Houston then locked himself into a bathroom and gouged one of his eyes out. The singer was in Europe for a string of performances.
Details are still sketchy but on Wednesday (February 2), the singer's label, Capitol Records, released the following statement, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Houston during this tragic time."
The Los Angeles-based singer released his debut album, It's Already Written, last August. The set was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies and featured the hit, "I Like That" featuring Chingy, Nate Dogg, and I-20.
When LAUNCH spoke to the singer last year, he explained that singing was in his blood. He said: "Been singing all my life. Pops is a singer, I'm the Fourth. You know he's Houston Summers the Third. You know he used to sing with Marvin *** back in the day. He used to do those background vocals. He was on the radio, so it's basically in my blood. Music is what I thirst for you know as well as God."

Yeah, the man was most definitely suffering mentally. All in all it's just good that he's alive and well and hopefully he learned to better control those issues. The fact that he's not trying to cover up his eye says a lot, mostly stating that he owns what he did and isn't ashamed. That's healthy compared to all the people who would be too ashamed to have it in the open that call themselves "stable".
Okay how dumb are some of the people on here...He had to have some mental issues to do something like that to himself..In fact when it happened I think they said he was schizophrenic...Also mental problems are nothing to laugh about..People need to read a book about mental issues and cut the ignorance...Its sad for me to believe that my own people are some of the most ignorant people alive...The reactions to this story is a disgrace..It was actually a combination of mental problems and drugs..That *** he was trying to kill himself..I feel bad for the suffering he was going through mentally...
Yeah this was very sad when he did this to his eye....I remember I seen him perform "I like That" in 2004 MTO at summer jam....I cried when this happpen. Very sad situation, but the industry is filled with demons and one just happen to enter this brother, cuz This isn't God's work here! He grew up in a christian house and was/is very religious. Soon after getting the record deal and seeing fame at a early age bodyguards and others say he changed. While on tour he jumped out of the tour bus screaming," He's in me! The Devils IN ME!" Bodyguards chased Houston through the rain and soon after that took him to get help. Soon Houston was on medication. Dotctors said nothing to worry about take the medication and you should be fine. While Houston was on tour overseas, in the middle of the concert he begin to go off again. He *** to the audience about the devil once again. The concert was over after that. The bodyguards had to hold him down from injuring the innocent audience members. The staff explained Houston been having a few problems then that was that. Later that *** Houston ate dinner at his Hotel then went up to his room. One of his bodyguards went up to see if he was ok. Houston opened the door then went back to lie on the bed. The bodyguard noticed blood ont the floor. He said," You have a nose bleed?" Because Houston ot them frequently. Houston said"Yes" The boduguard knew this was to much blood. Houston had a towel over his face so the bodyguard pulled it off. Only to see Houston had gouged one of his eyes out. He had completely gauged his left eye out. His bodyguard got help instantly. It was said to be a suicide attemp. Houston felt no pain he was laying on the bed without any ounce of pain and showed no wories about what he did. Houston said"," I feel much beter and releaved now. I feel much closer to God and feel great now! Now that I got the evil out of me. Now Houston is going to get a glass eye to replace the lost one. He gouged his eye out with a knife he had with him in the room. This goes to prove money is not everything, because he hada a 45mil dollar deal with Mcdonalds for commercials.

My HEART goes out to Houston and his family and friends. Mental illness is a challenging diagnosis that effects not just the afflicted, but all who care about them.
Houston, I pray that you are healed from this illness. I am encouraged that you aren't hiding yourself like some sort of coward. And know that "real beauty" eminates from the inside out. We all have made mistakes, and allowing yours to be clearly visiable is a powerful testimony which is therapeutic to you and others.
Incidently, if that is a gang sign that you are throwing up in your photograph, you definitely still have some issues to take before the throne of God. I am praying for you.

Man, ya'll are pathetic!! How the hell can you sit here and call this man names when he was obviously suffering? I don't usually say serious *** on here but this is way too serious to be laughing at. I mean, Houston has suffered from depression and all kinds of things. You cannot sit here and say that he is stupid for doing this to himself when you have never experienced what he was feeling. I also find it kind of *** up that you guys can laugh at his eye and say that he looks scary when there's a great chance of him going online, reading this *** and then attempting to commit suicide again. Think about how you would feel if you were a celebrity and were getting laughed at for something serious like this. Would you laugh at somebody in your everyday life that gouged their eye out because they didn't want to live anymore? No, so don't laugh at this guy; He's a human being just like all the rest of us.
