: It seems like every other day a popular artist is sued for stealing material. Well MediTakeOut.com just caught wind that Jay Z and Mary J Blige are being sued in federal court for just that.
Here's how TMZ is reporting it:
Jermaine Jumpp and Michael C. Adams claim in a federal lawsuit they handed a "compact disk" to the "office" of megaproducer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins with the song "On My Grind."Jay ... did you pull a BEYONCE????Then, not-so-magically, four years later, Mary J. recorded "Enough Cryin'" -- produced by Darkchild -- and the guys say it sounded awfully familiar.
It is unclear from the lawsuit what Jay-Z's roll was in all this.
WOW! Thirty Mile Zone . com also knows as TMZ.com Reported this yesterday. Where were you?

but seriously, this is why you should have you shyt copywritten and filed legally. (even then they can change it up and remix it, and call it there own.
baaay waaay..ha ha ..ooooh
OOH NO ONE WANTS TO BELIEVE THAT MARY STOLE MUSIC RIGHT?
DAMN IF THAT WAS BEY YOU GUYS WOULD BE ALL OVER HER. I LIKE TO ADD THAT THOSE PEOPLE WHO CLAIM BEY STOLE THEIR MUSIC DID NOT WIN THEIR LAWSUITS (BABYBOY, SURVIVOR OR INDEPENDENT WOMEN). I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED W/ THE DESIREE SONG. BUT THAT WAS FISHY SINCE SHE WAS ONLY ASKING FOR $10K - WHICH BEY HAD IN HER BACK POCKET. LMAO
As a former talent agent for one of the top Talent Agencies in the US, I recall receiving many tapes from unknown persons who were interested in getting their material heard. It was the responsibilty of our office to RETURN said tapes stamped "RETURN TO SENDER...UNSOLICITED MATERIAL".
It is unwise to 'give' or 'send' any of your work to anyone (unless you have copywritten the work) freely. It can be taken and used at will. It is best to always make contact with someone first, get their approval and then send your work. That way you have a name that you can attach the materal to. This is a game that has been played since the beginning of time - sending your songs to someone and a few years later hearing it. Not wise. Not sure what the details are on this story, but I'll bet you if it's true - a settlement will be reached. And it will take a long time to prove.
