: Rappers are getting dropped left and right at labels these days. MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that rapper Talib Kweli was just RELEASED from his deal with Blacksmith/Warner Music. According to our snitch – it was a result of lackluster sales from his last two albums….
Getting dropped in the middle of a recession definitely AIN’T FUNNY … Hopefully Talib can get another deal elsewhere…
Hmmm, let me guess, was his music 2 intelligent?
was he telling the kids 2 put down the guns & pick up a book?
did he tell people that there R more ways 2 get money besides hustlin?
maybe he was telling the youth that the Black woman (or women in general) is more than just a prop in a video.
& people got mad @ Nas 4 telling the truth
love language lyrics
Love is blind, you just see bright light You up in the club feelin' the night life, lookin' for the right type Blood rushing to your heart making it beat When she swept you off your feet and made it complete You know the plan you had to conquer the world Thinking you Scarface, looking for that perfect girl And now you found her Started with romantic, then got to frantic Then things thats normally small become gigantic Now y'all sinkin like the Titanic here come the panic Bein with you like a habit without you I can't stand it It's tragic when you wonder when you lost that magic Without understanding that you never had it try to grab it In the bed gettin a nut off, communication cut off Getting mad cause you turned on wondering where she shut off Constantly comparing you to someone in my past We don't smile anymore, and we argue over cash Advance to that physical [EXPLETIVE] See what happens if you keep talkin See what happens if you lay a finger on me motherf... Yo, see what I'm sayin' It's like one big mind game that everybody playin and [EXPLETIVE] say bitches is trife, bitches say [EXPLETIVE] is We just don't understand our fundamental differences I'm still learning though, actually I just do what come naturally, naturally, naturally
(Chorus): L'amour n'a pas de, frontiere (Love has no boundaries) Restes car je t'aime comme tu es (Stay because I love you as you are) J'ai traverse l'ocean du verbe (I crossed an ocean of words) Et je t'ai trouve (And I found you)
[Talib Kweli] Women thrive on emotions, men refuse to acknowledge So when we arguin nobody win Words get in the way time and again Sticks and stones break your bones words break your heart Whether you in touch with that part or not say "word" Words are weapons for the revolutionary Used for evil make the situation very scary Word up, but love is brave It flies in the face of fear Yo, wherever you want to go love'll take you there Let's go, you know a flower that grow in the ghetto Know more about survival than the one from fresh meadows It got love for the sun, that's where I'm comin from Spit in this fashion cause I love rockin over drums Word (te quiero) I put my love into my music If you with me then you love how I do it If my heart you're livin' in your ocean I'm swimmin' in Never drowning got me floatin' watching you in slow motion Love potion overdosin approachin The explosion of my senses everyday without your heart is like a sentence in jail Trust I'll always be mentally free You got the key to let it out I'll show you how it could be Love {*different language*} it ain't nuttin but a word A chicken ain't nuttin but a bird Yo, yo, yo
(Chorus): L'amour n'a pas de, frontiere (Love has no boundaries) Restes car je t'aime comme tu es (Stay because I love you as you are) J'ai traverse l'ocean du verbe (I crossed an ocean of words) Et je t'ai trouve (And I found you)
[Talib Kweli] Some of y'all in love with that material but love enter my life like a miracle and It reciprocal that's why I'm feeling you love We exibit our natural behavior Like making love under the moon in Jamaica Get you so hot you call the name of the creata The morning we hop back into action again Up on the wall lovin how the sun blacken your skin Remember when we explored the beach Swam in the ocean and saw beneith How the colors of the coral reef looked like the illest floral peice That's what your beauty remind me of It's hard to find a love like ours, taking it high above Them other duns try to spit game but, I dont sweat it though Know in my heart that we connected so I let it go Now if they call you out your name and that's a different thing Anything but Queen I'll go to war like a King Your friends sweat you cause you aint got a band But they dont understand Some things is meant to stay between a woman and man And they ain't privy to it so they try to get into it Both you and me see through it so the way we flow is fluid We speak the love language, they speak from pain and anguish Some don't love theyselves so they perception is tainted Out they joint like "[EXPLETIVE], he payin for your rent" missin the point When you rub me into your skin just like an ointment It's more than pillow talk, it can't be translated Learn how to speak it, and become emancipated It's a language
Universal love...
(Chorus): L'amour n'a pas de, frontiere (Love has no boundaries) Restes car je t'aime comme tu es (Stay because I love you as you are) J'ai traverse l'ocean du verbe (I crossed an ocean of words) Et je t'ai trouve (And I found you)
Love love love love, love, love (Repeated)
But yet- Rick Ross, Plies, Soulja Boy, Gorilla Zoe, Jeezy, T.I., 50, Lil Wayne and countless other people in the rap industry who will rap about guns, drugs, killing, money, alcohol, and treating women like they are the scum of the earth.....
will go platinum several times over.
This is what Hip-Hop has come to- appraising GARBAGE ass lyrics just because it has a "nice beat."
(Back to the old-school R&B station- this shiit is for the birds.)
Talib is by far, the greatest most intelligent rapper to come out of Brooklyn or anywhere else for that matter. Even JayZ admits that. If everyone knows his lyrics, did you buy him or bootleg him. If you bought him, he'd still have a label. I went to see him 6 times and everyone there just about was young white kids who like underground real rap. Support this brother instead of wack ass Lil' Wayne and Soulja Boy
Cosign w/ Dre7...The music industry as a whole has lost its substance. That's why you can have idiots like Lil' Wayne say he's the greatest rapper alive and other idiots cosigning with him. Lil' Wayne is nothing more than a punch-line rapper that will kill himself with his styrofoam cup. The sad thing is that real artists are having trouble getting signed by major labels because the labels want them to put out the crap that is being played in the mainstream media, which is copycats of every other artist that is "hot" nowadays.
Real artistry takes indivuality, substance, and originality. Something that most of these popcorn rappers know nothing about. I hate that they label the crap that's being pushed HipHop because it is further than what real HipHop is.
That's why you have idiots like Tempertease asking who is Talib Kweli when I am sure she knows who Soulja Boy and Lil' Wayne are. I boycott any and all stupidity being played on the airwaves. That's why I have satellite radio and support real artists by BUYING their music and not bootlegging their CDs.
If skills sold, Talib Kweli would have been one of the most commercially successful rappers of his time. As it was, however, the earnest MC became one of the most critically
successful rappers of his time, which dawned in the late '90s when he rapped alongside Mos Def and DJ Hi-Tek as part of the group Black Star. This trio of up-and-comers and their widely acclaimed self-titled 1998 album debut, Black Star, helped make Rawkus Records one of the premier underground rap outposts of the late '90s. Kweli and Hi-Tek then collaborated as a duo on Reflection Eternal (2000), which firmly established them apart from Mos Def, who had gone solo. For a moment there, Kweli and his Rawkus associates seemed like a full-fledged movement -- a return to the sort of hip-hop associated with the so-called golden age. However, it wasn't to be. Rawkus somehow lost its momentum, and its roster sadly dispersed, leaving Kweli on his own to carry the torch. He continued his output, beginning with a proper solo debut, Quality (2002), and though he didn't rack up towering sales numbers, he remained a critical favorite. In fact, he was one of the most admired and respected rappers on the major-label circuit during the mid-2000s, best evidenced by Jay-Z's famous Black Album rhyme: "If skills sold, truth be told/I'd probably be, lyrically, Talib Kweli."
For those who don't know. Don't be ignorant all you life. The internet can be used for far more than conducting your "cyber-life" and nurturing your "cyber-relationships".
WOW...

kweli will hit the ground running! this dont move him! blacksmith is his shyt so he will be fine! he never made money by being on a damn lable anyway! it was only for distribution purposes.... his checks are cut by promoters!
i seen him in concert what an exp.! and yes, the place was packed w/ white boys- the same ones that file in for the roots and mos def!
for all those who came on here just to fill space, please go back a research talib- it will only benefit you!!
and for the person who suggested that he should be a teacher- ironically, that is what his name means & he does teach not just to the youngin' but everyone!!!!
Cincinamon Flag post Just further proves my theory that music and television doesn't want to deal with anything with too much substance or that makes you think...
^^^^^^^Bingo.
Back in the day concious rap was all the rage with Public Enemy, X-Clan, KRS-1, etc.
Nowadays, unless you're rapping about your grill or chains or disrepecting women, you get no type of attention or airplay, and it's a shame.

This might be the best thing for him. With iTunes and Rhapsody he can easily start his own label and setup his own distribution quite easilty. He may not sell as many units but if he owns it all he doesn't need to do the same number of units to continue to get his bread. Provided he saved enough money to pay for his production and a little marketing. If not hopefully he has enough goodwill with solid producers he can go into to partnerships with on each album from now on. Getting "dropped" is prolly going to be the best thing that ever happened to him.
I agree with what most said about his talent. Although the music business care about money.
We need to be upset at the people who are buying lil wayne music and not his. (at least buy both) lol
We also need to know the difference between hip hop, R&B, and Rap music....
Lil Wayne, Solja boy etc is Rap music. Smokey Robinson, Al Green, Marvin Gaye etc is R&B. Hip hop is Common, Nas, Kool Moe Dee, Fat boys lol etc. We need to support Hip hop and R&B a lil more. Sorry for the long post.
I AM SO THANKFUL THAT THEY LET HIM GO. SO HE'S A FREE AGENT, HE CAN GO TO DO UNDERGROUND MIX TAPES. I'M QUITE SURE KANYE, DIDDY OR PHARRELL WILL USE HIM. HIS FREE STYLE IS SO COLD THAT HE JUST NEED THE RIGHT PRODUCER AND BEATS OF MUSIC. MAYBE HE CAN BE A TALENT SCOUT BECAUSE HE HAVE SKILLZ. GOOD LUCK TALIB! HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!!!!
