: Now ain’t this some mess. MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that one of Oprah Winfrey’s ex-boyfriends is writing a tell all book. And in it he talks GRAPHICALLY about Oprah’s crack smoking days.
Here’s an excerpt from the National Enquirer – describing the book:
[Randolph Cook] desceibes how Oprah made a “rock” of cocaine and baking soda in th tube and heated it, a method known as freebasing.And there’s more:“[Oprah] then put the lit torch on the rock, inhaled and held the smoke in her lungs for a long time. When she finally exhaled, she began to shake violently as she put the pipe down, she had trouble catching her breath and her eyes got big as saucers.”
We smoked at least a couple of times a week. Sometimes we would smoke up until her limo was waiting to take her to the studio to perform her show …DANG Oprah … this is one dude you should have hit off with a few stacks to keep his trap shut…A few times, she was still under the influence while doing her show.
I'm always amazed by the black folks on here who write negative, mean-spirited comments about Oprah. She's a self-made black woman that we should look up to and respect - not denigrate. She's never done anything to hurt any of us, and if having an audience that includes whites as well as blacks is a sin, well then she could have done a lot worse in her lifetime.

The only boyfriend I've ever known Oprah to have is Stedman. It seems like they've been together for 40 years, even though I know it's less, but that's what it seems like. This story is a little hard for me to believe. I don't see how she could function doing crack and running a show. She must be a hell of a professional crack smoker to handle that. I don't smoke crack - but I know a few folks who do and they don't look like they could handle picking up a telephone not less running a show, while high off of some crack. It's like they become totally disfunctional - unless it involves smoking more crack. It's a bit sickening - but too each his own.

Many, fathers, brothers, and sons where lost due to drugs, street violence, and unfair inprisonment. Leaving alot of our women and children alone.
Then the neighborhoods got so bad, that any of the positive examples that we had, got the phuck up outta there soon as they could.
There was a time when all the blacks rich and poor lived in the same neighborhoods. Even if your father wasnt in the home, you still had black doctors, lawyers, business owners, government officials, cops, and teachers living right down the street from you. Plenty of positive influences around you.
Those days are gone now. Crack phucked all that up.

I just don't agree that Acknowledging that one's childhood was bad is not a negative reflection on the parents. they need not be ashamed or embarrassed in front of church members. A lot of us had povery amongst us, growing up. I think Oprah was just addressing the povery and hardship that she faced in her youth. I see her as an inspiration, haven risen above that. however i worship no celebrity images. So any attempt that you say white media has to "use" her persay..fails when it comes to me.

I havent seen any of the 3rd season so thats why I want to make sure I tape the right thing so I can watch it later. I usually like to watch 4 or five episode at a time. I watched the whole season of Real Housewives of ATL this saturday from start to reunion show and I liked that show a lot. I like to see black women doing for themselves lol

Oprah's told just about everything about her life on her show. When she mentioned she did drugs some people berated her for having done everything her guests have. Perhaps she has but she hasn't hurt anyone with her past actions and her benevolent spirit override anything that happened 30 yrs ago.
It's like the woman who sold her story to a tabloid saying she was with Dr. King the night before he died. So what? Many years had passed and Dr. King's actions overrode mistakes that were between he and his wife.

I saw the episode where Oprah admitted she smoked crack. There was a young black woman telling her story about how tormented she felt deceiving her family and friends with her addiction. Oprah comforted the lady and revealed her own addiction. This info has been out there for a while, so it's not going to affect Oprah. Oprah has openly admitted making bad choices in relationships, which many people have.
I know several women who've never had children. Some of them would've loved to be mothers but it never happened. Some are career women who made the decision not to have children. Some women have had children and allowed someone else to raise them. It's their life.
I don't watch Oprah all the time. I don't always agree with her. I love to read and think knowing how to read is very important. I really appreciate that Oprah has her book club. There have been several black writers who've been on her show.
The Legends Ball was a wonderful thing. Oprah honored talented black women who've never been properly recognized for their work.
At this point it doesn't matter what I think of Oprah. A group of Republican women tried to start a boycott because of the Sarah Palin thing. I'm glad that didn't work. Whether anyone agrees with who Oprah is, what she has accomplished is phenomenal. It's hard to believe that at one time this would have been impossible. There have been others who have attempted talk shows, but many of them have not been successful.
Knowing how the world is I would not want to read some of the hate mail Oprah receives. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there are death threates. There are celebrities who've done crazy things but have been allowed to continue having successful careers. I say let Oprah keep going. If you don't like her, then don't watch.
I always hope everyone has the best life for them, including me.
