You know what I am sick and tired of people calling other people Latino. Latino is NOT A RACE! If take a DNA test it will never say this person is Latino. Latinos come in all different races including a mix of races making someone either Mestizo or Mulatto. These girls are Mulattos. Like myself. My grandmother who was born and raised in a country in Central America is Caucasian, My grandfather also from the same country is Black, which makes my Mother a Mulatta. FYI - Most Black people date within their own race. Do not believe the hype that Black men are "leaving" Black women for White/Asian (or mixed race Latinas). DON'T EVEN LET IT PHASE YOU! I've learned that it's mostly hatred toward each other and probably nothing can be done about. I, too, am sick of the "men" coming up here claiming to not understand why BW are more accepting of BW/WM dating when I've explained it about a dozen times now. What I've also learned is that kicking knowledge to a lot of these a-holes don't work because the only wanna respond to the "loud' and embittered" sounding ones because weak men and women like to push the buttons of those who sound insecure becuase they're actually pathetic. Well I always thought that brown skinned women like Kelly from (destiny's chil, Jessica White (model), Naoimi Cambell(Model), and Michelee Obama were more attractive. I also find caramel brown attractive, this is my opinion. Now what I have noticed is that most light skinned black women and other women have higher self esteem it seems than most darker skinned women. I think lighter skinned women have more to look up to in the media and thier is not of of enough images of darker skinned black women on tv. If you look at CNN news, all the black women are light skinned, and I must say, most of the black men on their are light skinned or light brown in complexion. The only darker skinned women, who is attractive, that is on thier, she is a corrispondent, she is not a anchor, and also a few darker skinned black men are corrisponedents, they are not anchors as well. Its all a mind game by the media to make us think that light skinned is better when all shades of black are attractive.

All sibligs range from dark-medium brown, to light brown, and I have very fair skinned nieces and nephews. So am I mixed too? I know for a fact that a lot of mixed folks in my family married only other mixed people back in the day, but their was a cut off point. But if they are not black, what is the difference between the bi-racials and Light-Skinned black folks, or Black Americans, I can hardly tell us apart sometimes. Light-Skinned black folks, or Black Americans, I can hardly tell us apart sometimes. Tell you the truth the reason why we are so mixed minded is because us as Black people have failed to find our identity. We are so caught up into the perspectives of others. I've noticed that in a lot of videos and movies over the years, a lot of Black women were constantly shown, loving, kissing, etc with White men, but I never thought anything of it. However, something as small as AKon taking pictures with two models struck a negative cord with the Black women here. I didn't help matters any on how MTO labeled the story either. I was in the Halle thread, but my words of wisdoms were drowned out by sensitive black men and insensitive black women. I told them that ignoring the ruthless, heartless women would make more of an impact than feeding into the BS. You could tell the women were saying hurtful things and hurling epithets to get a rise out the black men. At that point, the women had all the power and made these men feel guilty or some indignation, for what, I don't know. It saddens me to see men give women such power over them, not to mention risking a heart-attack. Over what? If black women want to start a white man movement, I am truly indifferent. ONOH, there were always a good amount of WW or non-black women present in videos back then and I don't remember hearing how much BW despised it by "word of mouth" like it was some big outrage. I also just want to reiterate that those black men were wrong for feeding in. And also black men shouldn't be calling black women e.g. COONS and if they do they are dead wrong.
@Maniseminole the difference is Black is Black meaning more pure. Lightskin black, the recessive trait from a white ancestor decided to show itself within that black person. Mixed race person (normally 50% to 40 % something else) is a hybrid race. I hate to burst your bubble but most African Americans are not all that mixed the way they think they are. I take this site somewhat serious, because whether you believe it or not, this is a microcosm of the real world. Some are instigating and some are just saying what they wish they could actually say in public. Especially when the subject is about something that could easily push their buttons as, you guessed it IR DATING. Look at how many comments it elicits every time. It never fails. I still don't get how playfully stating my opinion/perception of something makes me "insecure" I just know for a fact that A LOT (not all) men tend to use passive-aggressive tactics to get women all heated up. Jumping to call someone insecure just reminds me of what a lot of women try to do to make themselves feel better i.e. I could not like a girl for actual legitimate reasons, yet the only thing they can register in their head is "jealousy" and I'm like "That's not even my style" A female can actually have a negative opinion of another female without it being catty, but it seems as if there's more of a thrill in accusing them of "hating on" someone.

Okay, how was what I said trying to "clean anything up"? That was honestly how I felt. Let me try this approach, what do you think an approprate thing for me say to explain why I said it. Again, this "jealousy" stuff is you projecting things onto me. Like, I've said before, I have absolutelty no issues with saying that another girl is attractive no matter what race.
As far as me commenting on what you said about the two Latina's, on message boards people REACT to other peoples' comments that's what the boards are here for and I wasn't being hateful or bashing then.

No one would know that those girls are latino had MTO not mentioned that. However, we still don't know that these women are really latina, they could be black or "African American". How can anyone tell what they are just from looking at them.
Apparently, only "African Americans" and blacks directly from Africa have a right to be called blacks. African Americans alienate themselves when they arbitrarily determine that latinos are a race and that they are not black. There are double standards. It's like if you are black and speak Spanish, that automatically disqualifies you from being black. If you are black and speak English, this somehow makes you "a real black brutha". Some black latinos say they are not black in large part because of African Americans. Why? Because when you are black and coming from Guatemala, Brasil, or any other latin american country, the first thing African Americans say is, "You ain't black" or they call you "Spanish boy/girl" or whatever.
African Americans automatically push away as if to say "You are not one of us." It's even affected American latino lingo as latinos often say "los morenos" when referring to African Americans. Black latinos in Latin America are often referred to as "morenos" which simply means brown skinned person. I am a moreno. However, in the United States, I can't refer to myself as "moreno" because for American Latinos, only African Americans are morenos. Why? Because African Americans have hammered it into the heads of black latinos and all latinos that only they(African Americans) are the true blacks or have a right to be called black. Now when some of us(latinos) say we're not black, the African Americans then say, "Oh, he/she knows he/she black". You just can't win or please anybody it seems.
As others have correctly stated, Latino is a culture not a race. Much like the West Indians have their culture but don't cease to be blacks necessarily. Arbitrarily calling Latinos "Non black" is so divisive and so ignorant. Even American white people accept White latinos from Argentina and Uruguay as "white" people because they are beyond this "you can only be white if you are American and speak English" crap.
People like SexyBrown are very divisive and do more harm than good. Do African Americans really need more enemies?

You know this to be true because why? The BM you see have gf's or wives of another race? I date whomever I like, and I have dated almost every race. There is no "I like white women because they are easy" in my mind. I don't think to myself "She is pretty but she is black so I won't date her".
I suppose it is an American Black idealism behind this because no other country acts like this about race. Jamaica, Africa (HELLO there are white people born and raise there LOL), Germany, Europe in general are more open to interracial dating. I suppose if you stay within the confines of this country you will never know the joys of loving for the joy of love, not for color.

I feel you, but those barbershop men must not be the same ones that visit this site (and others like it) because about 90% of the comments I see here are from both men and women have the general consensus here are that she's "ugly" and "mannish."
It's just weird to me that those girls essentially look the same (as I've said before, slightly masculine bone structure) as Serena, yet on here, there's a he!! of a difference on how Serena's beauty is registered as opposed to the two ladies above. That's all. just pointing out things that I'm noticing.

Yes, the one on the right has some strong features. Her mouth/jaw area & protruding teeth remind me of a dog or something. Skin tone and hair is definitely her saving grace to people who care about trivial traits not related to FEATURES (can we say Mya aka Splinter, anyone?). The one on the left is pretty though, and they both have nice bodies, IMO. Serena's build doesn't help her any; that's part of the problem. She is built like a man with t&a! But you're right... facially, she isn't more masculine looking than the one on the right.

That's because Black Americans seem to think their origin is in hip-hop and basketball! Why else would they consider someone "not Black" or "not Black ENOUGH" whose style and lingo don't fit into the hip-hop world (ie "talk/dress White"). Also based on the recent comments of NE-Yo and Young Berg (both implied dark-skinned people were ugly), this is a common way of thinking for some artist. It is very damaging to young Black kids some of whom are returning to skin-bleaching! I recently overheard 2 Black teens saying "nobody wants a real Black girl." The media is very strong! Even with music videos, if the girl is dark we will more likely see her butt, if she is light we will see her face and it is implied she is a prize. These images tell a lot about a society.
Also, "African American" is not a race. It is a culture just like "Latino" is. People are using "black" and "African American" interchangeably as if they are synonyms and that's part of the problem. Everyone should know by now that there are African Americans that are not considered black in other countries. The United States is not the center of the universe and the one drop rule is not a worldwide law. In fact, Latino culture has preserved more African culture than African American culture has. The examples range from music, dress, food, and even language.

I haven't gotten to a point where I think my husband will be white though since I'm not too big on white dudes but I've gotten to where if my husband will be black it probably won't be a darker brotha ... I like all shades but I get the most attention from lighter hispanic men or lightskinned black men (i'm like caramel brown) and darker dudes just don't seem to look in brown or darker chicks directions lately even if she is a looker. I've seen a group of black men more than once not give a beautiful brown chick a 2nd look but fall head over heels trying to surround an avg. looking lightskinned girl....sad and funny at the same time.

I'm Latina and don't have belly fat hanging over my jeans, wear dirty flipflops or cheap high heels, and last time I checked I definitely am not busted. We don't try to personify your "Black culture." And in case you didn't know, black is in most of Latin countries roots. I'm Puerto Rican and we're essentially a mix of African, Taino Indian, and Spanish. We have our own unique styles of music (salsa, merengue, bachata, etc), our own style of clothes, cooking, everything. Whether the Latina/os you see have been "Americanized" or not has nothing to do with the fact they're Latina/o. It's sad that you can generalize a whole race like that and it's not racism but if a white or Hispanic were to say that everybody would jump down their throat.
