This is so tragic and unfortunate to hear that it's such a reality for women living in South Africa. It's seriously disturbing especially the part where the lesbian mother spoke about her 13 year old twin daughters who said the man told them "they should be f****d by men." The men who were interviewed were supportive of it. This is so wrong on so many, many levels. NO rape, "corrective rape" or otherwise, is okay, ever!
That's a damn shame, rape is inexcusable, no matter the circumstance, no matter what it is used for! Wow! Knowthetruth I feel what you are trying to clarify, but some things are pointless. Daisy dookes is very learned in things religious and cultural, but somehow she never grasped the spiritual portion and discernment in all that she learned. It is not something that you can get from a book. These ancient text that debunk christian beliefs are discussed in the Bible and they do have a purpose . But the purpose is to confuse, not to enlighten, and the fact that they exist should make you question in your mind what type of spirit was this book written in. If she looked not to her own understanding but earnestly asked God to reveal himself to her african conscience, she would feel that he is real, and have no need to look in another theology book to find Him without a guide. She will learn that in all things learned about God- without God involved in a relationship with the student, is useless, like reading a fiction novel. She can learn through His guidance how to eat the meat, but then spit out the bones which are spiritual untruths. I am in no way a scholar, in fact I am a new christian, converting from a bordeline atheist, but I know what my spirit tells me and it is in agreement with MANY, but most importantly it is in agreement with GOD. That is not by accident or coincidence, so we just have to pray that she sees the light and let it go. And like I said, I am very new to this mindset but I have read in the Bible that God can use a fool to confound the wise, so I hope this fool has imparted some wisdom to someone today. Well u guys are just plain ignorant and uneducated about African countries....South Africa is my country,with 15 years of democracy. it's a beautiful place to live in. i was born and bread there (and still live there in a town called Johannesburg). All this media coverage shows all the bad things and bad looking places but never show anything good that happens ova here or the manier towns and places that are beautiful - even better that the U.S. It's so sad that most of u take Africa as a country but not a continent. South African is a Southern African country that will be the host nation for the Soccer World Cup in 2010. Ur famous artists (Snoop Dog, Beyonce, Jzee, Chris Brown, Rihanaa...etc) come here and expert to c lions and monkeys in the street, pple wearing animal skin hunting....those were the long gone days(we live in the morden times now), and then when they c that it's almost just like the US then they start saying "It's our motherland" BULLSHIT. i live in the City, we have running water, Malls, Theaters halls, Big houses, Beautiful parks, School better than what Ophrah shows in the "Ghetto" etc Some Rural areas r ruined and dont have facilities....do u guys really think that Oprah is our American President...think again, she opened only one school then u think she was our saviour....Let me inform u guys, there's better schools in S.A, Hospitals. @ Knowthetruth I just had to help a sister out :). But when I said I am a new christian, that might have been deceptive. I had attended church services with my husband who is christian for about three years, but my motives were all wrong. Most of the time I was attending service and my only motivation to listen to the word was to go home and point out a few things that didnt make sense (I didn't understand) and to argue about the scriptures and to find discrepancies. Some tidbits of the sermons I remembered, but It was not until about a year ago that I was genuinely touched after asking Him, well really demanding that I see If He Is who He says He Is. I have never had such insight when it comes to all things spiritual before and at first it was kind of scary. But no, I wouldn't say I was just a flat out atheist even though I did seek after knowledge that was contrary to the Word of God. Somewhere down in my heart I knew that even the things that were debunking Christianity had a purpose, it just never felt right either way and now I realize that it was because I studied without God as my guide. But I love your spirit, you have inspired me to look a little deeper in my studies so I wont be a "fool" anymore. Lol.
