: MediaTakeOut.com learned that the Obama administration is moving towards legalization of marijuana for medical reasons. Yesterday, Attorney General Eric Holder signaled a change on medical marijuana policy saying that federal agents will only target marijuana distributors when they violate both federal and state law.
That means that if your State law allows for medical marijuana – like California – you’re GOOD!! Under the Bush Administration, DEA agents would actively go after Californians who were legally prescribed weed by their doctors.
Here’s what Attorney General Holder said:
"The policy is to go after those people who violate both federal and state law," Holder said in a question-and-answer session with reporters at the Justice Department..."Given the limited resources that we have, our focus will be on people, organizations that are growing, cultivating substantial amounts of marijuana and doing so in a way that's inconsistent with federal and state law," the attorney general said.”

Its not like he is legalizing the sale of it and if cigarettes are legal then how can one be against the sale of marijuana. My friend died of bone cancer and would sit and cry everyday in the hospital from all the pain, none of the pain medicine would work. The only thing that did work was marijuana, so I'm all for legalizing it for medical uses. I don't smoke but if it could help someone in pain then why not. Ok you probably know what 5 or 10 weed smokers out of probably 100s of thousands closer to milions here in the U.S. and all are underachievers. I smoke every now and then and im an engineer, now granted im not a captain of the universe but hardly an underachiever, and if I was, should it be your right to dictate to me I cant smoke because you think its wrong, even though I can buy alcohal, tobbacco etc. come on that doesnt make common sense. True Cocaine comes from the Coca plant but it must be chemically proscessed into the powder form weed is just pick dry smoke. Okay usually I don’t defend much of anything; everybody has an opinion which is respected… But to all of those who feel that the drug is for uneducated losers and individuals with low self esteem, I actually felt the same way when I was in the 5th grade and everybody D.A.R.Ed to say no… But when I got in the real world I realized that first off Marijuana is not addictive unless you have an EXTREMELY addictive personality… I have seen some of my buddies who couldn’t cope in this world without it… But the ratios of addicted weed heads to none are very slim. I smoke primarily for entertainment purposes; it makes food taste better, music sound better and even the worst movies comical… No I am not unemployed, I don’t have a million kids and I'm not on government assistance, Which really sucks because even though I go to work eryday I need help too, but I digress. Marijuana like cocaine comes from a plant TRUE… But marijuana unlike any other drug including alcohol does not have ANY chemicals added (unless you want your high to be enhanced) marijuana in its natural state can be smoke or inhaled in which a very comfortable/relaxed feeling comes over you…. With all of that said I agree with you, they shouldn’t legalize it, WHY, that’s more money coming out of our pockets and more money for the fair skins!! I have a quick story for all the tree haters. One of my boys, his Pops was suffering from cancer a few years back, he had never smoked anything in his whole life. He was in bed going through it every day. One day my boy came home from school early and when he opened his front door he caught a wiff of that "DOJA" (them heads know what I'm talkin bout the greenie green). Anyway, my dude said he thought like "damn one of my younger brothers must be wildin, smokin that good, and in the crib". He went to his parents room only to see his Pops out of bed, dressed, cleaning the house. He said his Pops stopped cleaning, looked at him and said, "I feel better then I have ever felt in my whole life, I can't believe I waited all my life to try this stuff".
Even my Uncle who had kidney problems told me as a young dude that it was the treez that helped him. He lived 15 years longer than the last person who died in his original dialasis group, because of the munchies. When certain medical procedures take away your appetite, those treez can keep you eating. Everything you read and hear is not true.

Marijuana is not made in a lab like meth. Marijuana GROWS OUT OF THE GROUND....it is a natural herb so we know it is good for something other than just getting high on.
I am 100% sure it would cure a lot diseases that doctors have not been able to find a cure for so far.
The government has given marijuana a bad rap, because people have been mis-using it for their own selfish purposes for ages.

It always puzzled me that Marijuana is illegal but alcohol isn't. Alcohol has absolutely no positive affects, in fact alcohol has been responsible for many deaths in this country alone. Like I said he is legalizing weed for medicinal purposes not recreation. I don't smoke weed but like I said there are people who actually need it. You have no clue about what weed does for someone in pain, I have seen my friend a cancer patient live a less painful life with the use of marijuana. If other medicines don't work such as the oxycontin, then why not try something that works.
Yes there needs to be a system in place to ensure that normal people don't abuse it, but don't punish the people that actually need it.
