There's no use in believing that Rachel secured the funds for her line on her own, or would you have us believe that it was only a coincidence that the line debuted only after she was married to Dame? Rachel Roy wasn't the only clothing line that Dame had a stake in. Samantha Ronson's line "S.Ronson" is/was funded by Damon Dash. Damon may or may not have had hundreds of millions, but when his partnership with Jay ended he had upper eight figure money. Jay sold Roccawear to Iconex for over 200 million,not 10 milliosn, and you're not including the money that he and Dame made off of the line at the height of the urban clothing craze, the money Dame made off royalties and salaries from Rockafella records, and whatever else Dame was into before his financial troubles.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why Jay isn't in the same predicament. Dame only got a cut of what Jay made. For starters, unlike Dame, we know for certain that Jay has hundreds of millions. So if Armandale vodka or whatever isn't getting a foothold in the market, then Jay is better able to absorb the shock. Secondly, I think Damon sunk his money into ventures that he didn't necessarily know how to make work. He wanted to get his own conglomerate going, but that's easier said than done. You can own Pro-keds, but how do you increase Pro-keds market share? How do you make the brand as relevant as it was before you bought it? Now, Dame has a pretty good hustle and obviously an eye for talent if she signed both Jay and Kanye and Cam, etc., but running Rockafella with Jay on the roster is like Phil Jackson getting the lion share of the credit for the six championships with Michael Jordan on the team. I would assume that when Dame was partnered with Jay he had more money rolling in than he does without Jay.
As for S. Ronson, I stand corrected then, C. Ronson, and my bad, if you were talking about the record label not the clothing line. I actually think Dame and Jay sold Rockafella records to Def Jam for a lot less than ten million. The sale of that company was not where either made the bulk of their money,but that's really besides the point because you're POV is that Dame had no money to finance these ventures, when the reality is, Dame had the funds to bankroll quite a few, C. Ronson and Rachel Roy among them.
