Dominic Verser is charged with murder, accused of killing 20-year-old Olivia Anaekwe.
She was found shot to death last Thursday near South 72nd Street and Gilmore Avenue in western Kansas City, Kan.
Anaekwe gave birth to a baby girl just over a month ago.
Anaekwe's mother hopes Verser will turn himself in to police.
"It's important for young mothers, when they experience any kind of physical or verbal abuse, that they let go," she said.
She said as a Christian woman with forgiveness in her heart, her message to Verser was this, "Physically and spiritually, turn yourself in."
