It is impossible to protect your children 100% of their life. That means no human being not even a sitter come into the home, they can't go to a friends house and watch them at all times. Come on now that is impossible.
The best way is to talk to your kids early and pay attention to them notice they will act different around certain adults.

I was molested at the age of 7 by my babysitter because I didn't know what sex was at that time. I knew there was something strange going on, but I thought I was playing some type of game. I had forgotten about it not long after it happened; but when I started taking sex education classes, I then found out that I had been a victim. I told my mom just a few years ago, oh, she wanted to find Joslyn. I know things like can mess up a person, but I am heterosexual and wouldn't have it any other way. when you call your mom and tell her she will deny it at first. She will say you are lying, shut you off etc. That is a defense mechanism (denial) that is normal. Just let her know and tell her you luv her and you will talk to her later. Give her time to let it sit in. This may take your mom a couple days or weeks to kick in. Give it time. Tell everyone. This man need to be exposed.

Dear Chvygrl I feel for you. That should not have happened. I was molested by 2 uncles when I was 9 and 10. The sad part is my Mom did nothing. They are her 2 youngest brothers. Queen, stay beautiful and keep your head high. No one should ever go through that but unfortunately, so many of us do. My mom had a similar response as her Queen's dad (mostly borne out of utter disbelief, not out of distrust for me) and she defended me, albeit quietly and without anyone finding out. My siblings still don't know and this happened two decades ago! I'm proud of her for speaking out about this because I know how painful and difficult it is to do so! It's a true sign of self-healing and I couldn't be happier that she's releasing that burden she's been carrying around for so long!

This has happened to a lot of men and women, unfortunately. It has happened to two people in my family - one male and one female. It affects people differently, but the male has since also molested others and committed suicide, and the female settles on lowlifes for the sake of wanting someone of the opposite sex to love her. She has also dabbled with women.
I hope more people, male and female can come out and talk about it. It doesn't help to keep it inside. You only hurt yourself even further when you do. You don't deserve that.

Why did they word it she "is coming out to" Essence? Is she also coming out as gay, or just molested?
I'm sorry this happened to the Queen but I hope she doesn't use it as an excuse for being gay, if/when she comes out. Because I saw Ellen interviewed by Barbara Walters and she said she was gay long before her step-dad assulted her.
