It could be a number of things. One being what you mentioned, stereotypical. Most people unfortunely still see many blacks as thugs. Of course that's far from the truth. The world of today is still selfish. People can't understand each other. Many feel security with thugs, bad *** image, get things done. I can't say the media is helping either. Promoting money, sex, voilence, and drugs as golden rules. Many young kids watch that stuff holding it keen to their own values. They grow up with it and become it themselves. The problem with women like her is that they have self esteem issues and don't believe they deserve a 'goody 2 shoes' man. But because they are delusional to the fact, they just turn it around on the good guy and say 'oh he's too nice'. I always thought that was so stupid. Almost borderline psychotic. It's like the heroin addict. The high feels good but that withdrawal is pure hell, but they keep getting high so tht it can counteract the horrible withdrawal symptoms. So what i am saying is that Hard work can mean for example, the efforts and time you put in building your own business, rather than working for the man. The payoff is less work down the road, but it's still took hard work to obtain it. The choice is simple, and a sucessful woman should not feel guilty about making it.

I agree somewhat with red dragons perception that pepa might have felt a gay vibe coming off will smith.
