: MediaTakeOut.com just learned that rapper Nas has FINALLY decided to fight back against Kelis' unrealistic support demands.
According to papers filed with the court in New York, Nas has asked the court to REDUCE Kelis spousal support from $72,000 a month to ZERO. It's not clear whether he's citing any financial hardship as a result of his $2.5M outstanding IRS bill.
And as far as child support, MediaTakeOut.com learned that Nas is offering NOTHING. According to the papers, Nas is asking for 50-50 joint custody of their child - so that he doesn't have to pay child support.
No word yet on how Kelis will respond . . .
If this is true the few child support payments Kelis got shoulda been enough to do something serious with. She could have taken the money and started a business or something. Instead she is out buying 15,000 dolllars strollers and I am sure thousands on other stupid stuff to feel rich. That is just stupid.

Nice try Nas! I don't think he should have to pay alimony because her income was listed at 13,000 per month but he is going to have to pay child support. The person with the higher income usually always has to pay some child support and his income was listed as over 200,000 per month. However, I don't think he should have to pay more than 10,000 per month in child support and she should not get any alimony because she has her own income. Alimony is for women who stayed home raising children and had no type of jobs skills Kelis, not for you to buy LV purses and christian louboutin shoes!
If this is true, it's really corny on Nas' part. That child is his, he should pay child support... I don't give a f*ck what the situation is with Kelis. Now, alimony, that's a whole other story, but child support... nah, that [EXPLETIVE] isn't right... even if he has 50/50 joint custody, he should still pay some kind of child support.

That's a smart move trying to get joint custody because Nas has a better chance of seeing his son as well
Let's get this straight...Nas and Kelis both filed for joint custody in the beginning! Kelis was only granted temporary child support and alimony because she had just given birth and had no substantial amount of money..hence the 44k per month awarded to her(including both child/spousal support). Nas filing for joint custody does not mean ZERO child support! It only means that instead of Nas being Knight's soul provider...Kelis will be responsible for 50 percent of their son's care(which she should be. Nas is being very smart about this!!!!
Kelis think she slick...she is about to release a new album in 2010 through interscope and was banking on Nas paying her 100% child support! Thank goodness she will receive alimony for only a short term period...because they were not married for 10 yrs or more! So now Nas is making sure her money will go towards 50% of their child's needs. Joint custody also means Nas can spend time with his son without consulting her...Kelis won't be calling all the shots! Good move NAS...no alimony but 50% child support!!!
Good move Nas. I know initially she was cute, then she just started looking older, then uglier, then older, then uglier. I guess she said, I got the man, and i know longer have to look good. Even in this dress here, she doesn't look good. she always wears tacky clothes, and always looks like she doesn't care what she looks like, and that she's Kelis. Well when Kelis came on the scene, Kelis was hot, and now she's "NOT".
See this is what the problem I'm talking about here. Kelis keeps digging money out of his pocket every month at every chance she gets and if she ends up not receiving a dime from him, then baby momas like her are gonna wondering why they be falling deep into welfare. I heard and seen such problems as this. So as for Nas I hope he gets himself 2gether and take the resposibility for his child. Good for him.
That's a b.s. move IF he really isn't trying to pay ANY child support. If u took part in creating another human being, then U should expect to support that child. As far as spousal support goes, Kelis is very able to make her own $$$, but he should provide something since that's the world we live in. Not much, I say $2,000 a month. That's at least a mortgage payment in a reasonable area for his child to live.

@jayanderson07 Sometimes men don't understand that the everyday things that may also benefit the mother benefit the child as well. If I have the child more than you, I'm the one driving him/her around everywhere so if I take some of that money and gas my car up it's benefitting your child, or if I pay my rent or light bill, it's benefitting your child, food in the frigde and the list goes on. Children need more than clothes and shoes they are expensive and the parent who doesn't have the child the bulk of the time needs to pay support period. I agree that some men get d%cked by the system

These wealthy men marry these women or knock them up and then act surprised when she's trying to take all your money. If you are in a position of power and wealth, you should guard your assets period. If a woman has a problem signing a pre-nup, you see what she's about already. It's sad that paperwork has to figure into what should be a loving TRUSTFUL union, but it's the world we've created where the mighty dollar is the end all be all.
@Hotbunny I disagree about only having to pay spousal support if it's put in writing that the woman wasn't going to work. If you verbally agree that it's ok for your woman to stay home then it is what it is. If you don't agree, and she refuses to get a job, specify that to the courts and make her kick rocks. You know when you're leaving out for work everyday that your woman isn't goin out the door with you so a man shouldn't complain if he lets his wife get away with that mess if he didn't agree with it.

This is a lesson for both sexes, m & f. It's better to stay single if you can't be faithful to the person your with. All those years together were wasted and apparently now will cause a divided house.
It's sad that these two won't work things out because there is a young baby involved and this child is your for life, Nas and Kelis. Everytime yall look at that baby, you see a bit of yourself in this child. You are gonna have memories of how things use to be. At least try to get along for the child's sake.
Both of them need to wake up. A baby needs his mother and father. If they cant work it out then they need to figure out whats BEST for the baby. A baby is not a paycheck. Put that money in a trustfund for the baby not into the hands of a gold digger. Laying on back, carrying, taking care of child does not = paycheck.
