I think it was irresponsible of u 2 post false allegations especially when ppl r suffering every second over there. Thanks 2 u, ppl will stop donating. Is that what u wanted MTO? Need I remind everyone "HE" was the 1st FACE to be on CNN the same day the EarthQuake hit asking people to donate so haitians can begin getting relief! That very same night he also stated he would be going to Haiti, he even told Anderson Cooper if you need a translator just contact me! Furthermore, Wyclef may not have put out any hit records recently however he is deeply involve in his organization (YELE).

First of all I have a hard time believing that telephone companies have all agreed to release funds especially since he was advertsing about it so quickly and yes I do mean advertsing. @ lucania Port-au-Prince is not the only parish with an airport. That's were most international flights enter. Those that are on the runway at Port-au-Prince's airport are allowed to travel to and from, such as the news anchor's and organizations providing relief. I'm pretty sure everyone/every organization on that runway strip has some type of arrangement with the officials who are controlling the airway. It's also possible he flew to Dominican Rebublic and crossed the border!
Yele is mostly funded by Whyclef, everyone else is just now donating because of this tragedy. he been putting money into this charity for years. If he put on a benefit concert, and funded it using Yele, he probably need more transparency. And show how much that concert made, and how much was given back to the charity. The questions the news are asking are valid. Anytime you ask American's to fund your charity, you have to be professional and ready to show your records. Clear this matter up quickly.. Wyclef get an accountant firm to handle you if you have to...
He is not scamming anyone. If people would take the time to go to Y e l e. o r g website they will understand what the organization is about. This organization has been around for years. The organization is about raising funds for charities, raising awareness and entertainment also but for the Yele Haiti EARTHQUAKE FUND 100% of the proceeds go to Haiti. I'm not knocking the REDCROSS, but are you aware they take @ least 40% of all proceeds (I may be incorrect on the %). Now that 40% may go to paying for their employees, airline fuel or Doctors that are presently there. Wyclef does not take any percentage from the donation and He uses/used his own for the earthquake relief! Not mention he also participates with these other organizations that presently in Haiti. Nonetheless, his main priority is for Haitians to get assistance! (That's MY MAIN PRIORTY as well)

Besides American Red Cross, here are a few other organizations that you can send donations to; (1) Batey Relief Alliance, (2) Global Syndicate (3) Partners in Health (4) Lambi Fund (5) Oxfam (6) Doctors Without Borders, are just to name a few. Besides the American Red Cross and Wyclef, who by the way is a Grammy award winning artist, internationally knows, can you you honestly say you have heard of the other organizations? Wyclef is the celebrity voice of Haiti. He's always in Haiti, even when the media is not. When his stardom began he never denied or became ashame of Haiti (Unlike other haitian celebrities). He used his stardom to assist Haiti and educate other celebrities about haiti.
You can donate to which ever organization you choose, but before you do please ask them how your $ will be used. You can also inform the organization how you want your donation to used (whether it should go towards medication/water/food etc...........)

I believe in what Wyclef is doing & has always done for Haiti. I've already donated $210.00 to Yele.org (both via text & on-line). I will continue to donate to yele and other organizations I believe in! I am gonna hold out until I see the results. The Red Cross is a scam too. All that money they got from 9/11, and no one saw them either. If I can see the money and what it is doing then I will believe it. But until then I am very skeptical of any charity. We had undercover investigation in my city, people were donating to charity and the charity folks were taking the goods home with them. Talk about a scam. The media FAILED to mention Clef has CONSISTENTLY been involved in Haiti way before the Quake even happened. ? The money isn't going to concerts. Organizations in general fund benefit concerts sometimes where a portion of the money raised from ticket sales go towards the organization. But the people you hire to put this together need to be paid, sometimes up front so the organization has to dip into the funds to pay the band, the promoter, the advertisers, etc.

From the news articles I've read regarding Yele, no one was questioning Wyclef's intentions and the intentions of the organization. They seemed to be questioning whether or not the organization is large enough and has the management capabilities to handle a catastophe as large as the earthquake in Haiti. For exmple, 61% to 74% of proceeds going to aid Haiti as opposed to 90% of proceeds from larger organizations because they receive more capital. Or, the fact that texting donations won't be available until texters pay their next bill. Until then, Yele would have to borrow money or...

Text Message Donations To Haiti Cross $10 Million; Companies Commit Immediate Funds
Yesterday, we noted that $5 million had be raised in donations for Haiti though text messaging in the U.S. alone. Today, that number surpassed $10 million, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has announced. Perhaps more importantly, some of the big players involved in the donations are making moves to make sure the money gets to Haiti faster.
As some people noted in the comments yesterday, there had been talk of 90 day delays for this money donated via text to be released to the various organizations helping out in Haiti. Since then, a number of the companies have committed to giving the money immediately. Verizon, for example, is giving its share (of the then $9 million), $2.98 million, immediately to the American Red Cross. Sprint, meanwhile, is giving 80% of the $1.2 million it has raised so far immediately. AT&T has apparently raised the most so far with $4.2 million (of the larger $10 million) and is also thinking about ways to get the money to Haiti faster.
I donated to Yele. African Americans are so distrusting of one another. Wyclef has been talking about being a Refugee and Haitii ever since he has had any kind of celebrity. If anybody will know where the people need help it would be somebody from the country. Too bad we did not see all the rich black people in America helping New Orleans and providing help to their own people. Haiti is suffering and I donated to his foundation and will make another contribution to his foundation. Where was the red cross with Katrina??? Did they account for the millions poured in.
I personally believe his business is legit, He has had his YELE organization waayy before this disaster struck. Not to mention, He has used most of his own money to help support this and plenty of other causes in his home country. People stop being so judgmental and do your research, If you know anything about Wyclef, You would know that since he has been in the industry he has NEVER been ashamed to claim his heritage,Furthermore, He has always wrote inspiring music for his people and for Hip Hop.. did you NOT see oprah winfrey, macy gray, jamie foxx, jay-z and plenty of other rich african americans on-site in new orleans/houston during katrina? you don't have to lie and try to put african americans down, simply to make a point for wyclef. MOST african americans trust in wyclef and will continue to support through him.

The man leaked that information to give you a warning. Some of you people are hilarius talking about unitl you'll see some detailed, official documents as to exactly how Wycleff will use the money, you don't believe him or you aren't donating to YELE. Please, as most of you'll in here can barely spell and leave posts sounding like you can't read an entire children's book without struggling, I doubt you'll are really waiting to read official documents. Notice how there was never any reports about YELE unitl AFTER the relief efforts became GLOBAL and Wycleff lead the charge to assist Haiti. Some of you'll need to stick to reading Beyonce stories.
He may feel the need to answer the accusations because unlike many MTO readers, he's a public figure with a larger reputation--something the average 9-5 worker hasn't to protect. Oh yeah, seeing that they are ACCUSING him of wrong-doing, it's natural to respond. If you don't, people then say, "Oh, he must be guilty because he hasn't said anything about this." Get accused publicly, you respond publicly. This isn't a hard concept to understand if are a person who isn't gullible to every rumor you're presented. It's not rocket science.

Why are people scrutinizing where the money will end up? People are DYING in the process. This is such a distraction from the real issue.
I can't believe people would doubt Wyclef on this one...He's never been an opportunist, he worked for his. Love him or hate him, you have to acknowledge that fact. And he loves Haiti far too much.

The only people that are hatting are the opposite of black. Just look at their comments. We as people need to step our game up and uplift one another but were just too selfish to see that. These people have nothing and we are sitting over here worried about Wyclef and his personal issues. The man gave 1mill and he's donating his time. Shut up if you are not doing what he is doing for human beings that are suffering. I'm so sick of ungrateful ass people.
My main concern, it that before the Earthquake "Wyclef" was there supporting his country. He created this charity, and no other. No that the country is in turmoil, every has an opinion and a concern about how he funds his organization. Now since the news media and politician is involved, they want the coverage, not this Haitian American (Wyclef) who has been trying to speak out about the poverty in Haiti prior to the earthquake and no one would LISTEN. No everyone wants to be seen on TV, and pretend to care. When in reality the ones effected are the Haitians, and when the lights are off and camera crews are gone. They will still be alone. So Wyclef, they crucified Christ, your not special! Take it as a blessing, be the voice for all the Haitians that are suffering! JAH BLESS!
