This could just be the lighting, or it could be the time of the year the pic was taken. The 2001 pic was most likely taken in the summer (when ppl get tanned) judging by the top she has on, & the pic taken yesterday is still in the winter. I don't think she's bleaching her skin.

I think it's makeup and lighting. Was the picture on the right taken in the summer or on vacation on an island? I see coworkers in my office that are dark in the summer but come winter time look totally different due to the winter weather and less exposure to the sun.

I think it is the makeup, camera and the lighting. Compare the white in the top two photos. One is bright and one is muted. That is the lighting and the camera. Different cameras have different sensors which handle color differently. I used to model.
