I am originally from Chicago but live in TX where I have a concealed handgun License and almost everyone I know carry handguns here and its not nearly as violent, but thugs think twice when they believe average citizens are carrying weapons (legally). I am originally, from Chgo. I left there about 2 yrs. ago! At the time of my departure, I was debating with myself, rather or not to stay, or to leave. Which was somewhat of a hard ordeal for me, because, I'd resided there almost; all of my life! And, Chgo, is such a beautiful city. But, now that, I've been gone for awhile, and have heard and seen, so, much more violence and crime on the news about Chgo., and now this! "Now I know that, I made the right decision, to leave!!"

Yeah Chicago is hella crazy! I have some family down there and I used to always go down there and visit, but thankfully nothing bad ever happened. But it can be dangerous anywhere! I still remember the story of some woman moving away from the chi because she claimed it was too dangerous, but end up getting killed once she moved! That was sad, but that just goes to show that Chicago isn't the only dangerous city. The city I live in is getting just as bad as some of these other places. It just all depends on the area you live in and who you deal with....

I'm not from Chicago but live here temporarily and I cannot wait to move! Everyday that I'm here I see or hear something that makes me more scared to go outside. I love being outside w/my son but being here just makes me fearful that something might happen to him (most victims aren't the intended target). He'll be 6 in a few days and I wish we could be back in TX before he's 7, but I guarantee we will be before he's 8. I don't want him growing up in the middle of this madness. @reapmills u only partially right i"m from englewood what u are saying IS englewood but not ALL of it englewood is 55th st to 75th st between lasalle to damen technically that covers ALL englewood that"s the way it"s been forever but most folks act like it"s only halstead to damen jennifer hudson from 70th and yale and they were all on news englewood this englewood that and kennedy king is on 68th and wentworth and that was/is an englewood landmark more to englewood than just halstead to damen!
p.s. the lowe terraces on 65th and lowe is part of englewood and lowe is before u get to halstead. st. bernard hospital and even englewood high school are before u run in to halstead it does not cover the area u stated reapmills but it covers the ENTIRE englewood area cause if that"s the case even englewood high school would not cover the area u stated not criticizing u just stating facts cause im from 68th and perry right from jennifer hudson and the original kennedy king city college and robeson high school ALL part of englewood!
