As for cell phone usage in a hospital setting-Cell phones are allowed to be used, but on in cell safe areas. There are times that a physician or nurse might need to discuss a clinical issue while walking the floor...it happens and I've seen it; I've had to do it myself on ocassions. As long as it not within a certain distance of Telemetry, ER, NICU, OR's or Radiology...No offense but who's going to tell a physicians NOT to use his cell?!?!? You know they think they are gods-gift! Lol! But RealRoxanne is semi-correct. It's allowed to a certain degree.

It depends though...If you're a NP that makes rounds on behalf of a physician you might have to make a call, while in the present of a patient, to answer a page in regards to radiological testing results..but it depends...
