: A few months ago, MediaTakeOut.com showed you a video of actress Maia Campbell, strung out on drugs - and being pimped out in Los Angeles. Since then her family helped get her into rehab.
Well she got out. And has gone back to the streets. Here is a recent video of her:
Most recovering addicts relapse at least once. It's actually a part of the process for some to get clean, relapse and then take a good look at yourself, the more you realize what you're doing to yourself, the more you want to kick the habit and the less you enjoy the high.
I still have hope for her.
this is a bad look and i feel bad for her but fyi she is BIPOLAR and she went on a downward spiral after her mom died a few years ago. Her mother wrote the book 72 hour hold (Bebe Moore Campbell) about her bipolar disorder. It's sad that she lost her mother who kept her in line and kept her on the meds and off drugs. just a lil fun fact :)
OMG! This makes me wanna cry...She needs some serious intervention. Not one month stay in rehab, but at least a year with constant psychological care and possibly meds...Does she have any other family that care? Where in the h*ll does she live?
And to be for real,I'm pretty sure every one of us knows someone who acts just like she is acting, but we just laugh and call them "crazy"(in a funny way). I'm starting to believe that Bipolar(manic depressive) disorder is abundant in the black community more than we wanna believe.
I wish these were the good old days when the saying It takes a village was true, black people with influence and money in society could then come together and help a helpless, hopeless young woman. I also wonder if in her state there is a program such as AOT cause i'm sure in addition to her addiction, her mental illness is not treated maybe due to non-compliance with medication. Here, AOT will remand her to court, assigned a court appointed attorney and ICMs to make sure she attends a day program to treat her MI and her meds could be administered there. I will continue to pray for her.
Wow...I'm so sorry it turned out like this for her...She was so beautiful...That beautiful girl is still in there some where though. I hope she wakes up and gets a grip of herself and decides to turn her life around. She should be doing commercials, small movie parts or sit-coms or something...not this. Please pull it back together MIA...PLEASE!!!
She is bi polar people...she isn't on drugs she is just one brain cell from schizophrenia. This is why she seems "cracked out", because of voices and hallucinating. There was one video where slim ass n.iggas were actually talking to her and laughing bout the s.hit like it was improv. She's is far from drug addict but not close enough for mental help. Since her mother is gone, the state can only baker act her after harm to herself, which she hasn't done yet. She knows how to play and get out the mental ward. commented from deep personal experience...
For all of you sayin shes on crack your redundant. shes not on crack shes on Crystal Meth dumb asses. Crystal Meth + BiPolar disorder = the video that you see above. Maia doesnt need judgement she need psychiatric help, and someone that cares enough to keep her on her meds. Shes hurting right now so shes self medicating. Dont judge her Pray for her.
This woman is clearly bipolar and is having a manic episode. While she may be self medicating with street drugs as you imply MTO she still needs IMMEDIATE psychiatric intervention to stabilize her mood. The sad part is that she has to want to stay on her meds, which appears not to be the case. I'm sure her family is frustrated as they have gotten help for her in the past, only for her to ignore her regimen and end up in her current state. It's so sad...
I just cried after watching this video and I can't stop crying. This is not just drugs. People laugh at what they don't understand. She needs psychiatric help. Where is she. Whoever took the video..next time you see her, please ask her this one question, "Maia, you're not going to do anything to hurt yourself or hurt somebody are you?" This poor girl needs help. She is going through a high with all the talking and ranting.. but if she goes through the low it can be devastating. She needs help. I wish I could find her. If you know her family
i mean,it's not just about her being on whatever drug she is using..the girl has a mental problem..her mother had stated that...she's bipolar or something..anyway, most of these types of people don't like taking their meds becuz they feel "zombiefied" and when they go off their meds, the can't control alot of what they do or how they act..and unfortunately there are people out there who like to exploit and use these types of people..also compounded with the fact that she is using, makes it that much worse..i feel sorry for her, but to a point..she had every advantage..a family, a good career,
They say that her family has had an intervention...but this is clearly not just a drug thing, you can tell. I don't know what area of town she is in, but at this point I think there are services that can step in and can help with the efforts to help her. This is so sad. She doesn't even know what's going on. She doesn't even realize probably that she is sick. So whoever took the video and those who know her could you please keep this in mind. It is an illness. This is not just a drug thing. She needs help. Please lets get her help and let's pray for her.
God has not given up on Maia. She is still a child of God. Sometimes people start taking there medication and it doesn't kick in. They still feel bad. It takes time for it to kick in or sometimes it may not be the right medication for them. Some people stop because the medication they are put on makes them feel worse. It takes time. It's a process. She needs help. I pray for her. She is not a loss cause. She's still a child of god. We Fall Down But We Get Up. Is there anyway to contact her family?
It's been said that her mother knew from a very early age that she was mentally ill. I do believe that drugs plays a part in this, but she is also mentally unstable. I feel sorry for her. And, the people laughing on the video clip are not helping at all. There is nothing funny about what she's going through. She's only 33-years-old. She's a young woman and still has time to get herself together. I hope she doesn't wait too late.
what really upsets me is the guys that sent this tape in...I know these crooked azz fools and they on sum dumb ish!!! I always see her. in fact, she frequents my sector{hood}.yeah. they knew not 2 film this [EXPLETIVE] around me. this justs pisses me off. instead uf tryna help her...they're ridiculing her. Ni$$a"s wanna sell this [EXPLETIVE] to tabloids 4 some crumbs. this chick's life is @ stake...whus sad is-she has2 get it 2gether..but thas her choice.but these bafoons on sum str8 gutta ish...I'ma tell these fools about thmeselves. smmfh!!!
taking a few deep breaths...htf can lohan be thrown into that category? she thought she was too good for probation so she needs intervention? well she got it in the form of a 90 day sentence which our unbiased judicial system (sarcasm) released her after ten days. i would gladly light a match to the road to hell shes taking. all she needs is what she missed as a child...an axx whooping
This is just awful...her mother tried to help her before she passed...BeBe Moore Campbell passed from a brain tumor...and she often times spoke about there being mental illness in the family, however I never heard her say anything about drugs...I don't believe Maia is taking drugs...she just won't take her psychotropic medications...her mother was also a Soror, and when I get to LA, I'm gonna try and find this young lady and help her anyway possible...not sure of the plan of care...but this can no longer go on...it's my sisterly duty...I challenge West Coast Sorors to look into this situation...for "it's a serious matter"...
Maia will always hold a special place in my heart b/c I know how much her mom Bebe Moore Campbell LOVED her and took care of her daughter and now no one is there to look out for Maia. This is just depressing. I keep wanting her to get better but who is going to help her???? And she came from such a high scale elite black family. What a shame.
Between this and [SPAM] dot.com it seems like a lot of yall just talk the talk and don't walk the walk. Everybody sees the problem and pointing fingers and her and what she and others should do to help her. If you're not willing to help and be part of the solution then Shut The Fuuk Up! You self-rightous bastards on this site make me sick.

Ok, now why all of the outreach to that spoiled b%tch Lindsey Lohan, but very little to none for Maia?? Everyday we have to listen to folk go on & on about helping Lindsey Lohan get straight, but TMZ, Access Hollywood, etc and not even LL speaks out about trying to get Maia some REAL help! This sh%t is sad & it ain't even funny anymore. Folk recording her & posting sh%t like it's still funny...well it's not! Do something to help her muthafucaz!!
She needs help. It can be a struggle for the family. They may have put in all of the efforts. But the fact remains that she is still out there on the street. When you're in this state of mind it's a dangerous place to be. You may not even realize that you are sick or need help. I live near LA and I would like to help her in whatever way I can. I don't know how to contact her family, but I'm going to try. It's like I posted earlier..next time if they film her please ask her the 2 questions. Does she feel like hurting herself or someone else. Right now she seems to be on a high, but when the low
When the low hits it could be suicidal (God forbid). The sad thing is that here in LA there are so many people walking the streets with the same condition as her. People think they are plain crazy, No they have an illness. In an earlier post seancarter4u said she was a sorror. Maybe if we could communicate or something, and put our resources together. It's saddened me today to see this young lady on the street. I'm not so worried about the laughers. People laugh at what they don't understand. And in the black community for so long by some it has not been recognized as an illness. It has been
@ SeanCarter4u...I saw her walking down an alley near my grandmas house on Compton Ave and I tried to help her but she tried to hit me. It really is sad and unfortunate that people keep releasing videos and laughing at her. She's definitely doing drugs but the mental illness isn't helping because she won't take her meds. I cried that day, she didn't used to be that way back in the day. It sickens me to see this.
We need to be praying for her and her family rather than constantly exploiting her.
@ SeanCarter4u That was beautiful that you tried to help her. Sometimes people can be violent when in that state. They need help and don't even know it. Can be in complete denial. Perhaps she'll be more approachable when going through a low.. But on the frontpage of MTO today they say she is in jail. I'd rather she her there for now instead of on the street. It's a sad situation. Let's not give up on her. There is a solution. She needs our help. I'm sure here family has tried many times too. It can be frustrating for a family. When the meds don't won't and the person goes off
As many times as I have been on this website, I never felt prone to write an comment. But as I watched the videos and read some of the comments I felt an need. First of all shame on those who filmed her. Second, she has a child(ren) who needs her. Third of all, we never know what road life may take us down. So before you pass judgement on someone walk in their shoes. She maybe lost but not forgotten. Don't talk about her pray for her. God answer's prayers'. Delayed doesn't mean denied. I will have my pastor as well as myself pray for her soul, mind, body and spirit....God Love's All HIS CHILD
I am truly sad to see such an beautiful young lady like this and those who said they tried to help her you are good people its sad to see such talent and beauty gone to drugs and prostitution I heard(which I don't know for sure is true) that her mom has mental issues and she has them too and the drugs made it no better all I can say is instead of us talking negative about her let's pray for her because she needs it !
