I don't think this has anything to do with race. A lot of people don't know how to manage their finances rich and poor alike especially those who made a lot of money in a short period of time. For example look at lottery winners (90% of whom are white) they go broke in a few years. That said, I am shocked though because these athletes always have financial advisers. Everyone should read the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series of books and if you buy a game for your children by the same named game and give your children an excellent financial start.

Lets get one thing straight, celebrities don't buy homes in cash. For starters, you can't(IRS) and secondly, if you paid it off too quickly, you couldn't get a tax break on it.
