These dangerous cities are often led by dirty politicians and police chiefs. We can clean up our cities but it takes EVERYONE involved to make a conscious effort - not SOME people. I live on the outskirts of a dangerous city and I do not live my life in fear. I practice common sense and mind my own business. I visit the 'dangerous' city frequently and still I experience no fear. God has my back anyway!

a lot of people dont realize how this list is made. what they do is take the population of the cities. for instance st.louis i live here and they only count the number of residences in the cities. st. louis only has 350,000 that actually live in the city. its not just murders it includes other stuff like robberies and assaults. so if st. louis has 175 murders and 2500 robberies and 3000 assaults out of 350,000 people, then its easier to be a part of that than a city with 500 murders, 6000 robberies and 8000 assaults but has a population of 2,000,000. which would make it more dangerous to live here

Half of those cities are NOT in the northeast, only NY, NJ, and CT which accounts for only 5 out of 25 States. Most are in the midwest area from Michigan all the way down the map to Louisiana. The remaining are mostly SouthEast followed by CA on the west. It is sad that grown folks on here do not know geographical locations on the map. Detroit, Missouri, Louisiana, TN are considered Midwest.

Some of you commenting are so uneducated and blindly look at surface material. The smaller cities are usually listed because its due to per capita crime reporting. Larger areas such as nyc, chicago etc have larger populations and MORE CRIME however statistically its not reflected in per capita reporting. Just because chi, nyc, L.A and other larger crime ridden cities are not listed DOES NOT MEAN their safer then the small cities they have listed....Always read between the lines when interpreting stats...
