when i first looked at the pics i agreed bonafied cutie.i have no problem with doing natural but the first thing that i thought is why is angela's hair nice and straight but the daughter's isnt.i dont think she needs a perm but really all they had to do was brush down the sides of her hair. tht would make it look neater and a little prettier.same thing for the little boy. he needs his hair brushed and maybe lined up a little.and it wouldnt hurt to add some oil sheen to either one of their heads.

As for perms, I wore my hair pressed or blown straight until I was 17 n got a relaxer bc I was going off to school n it would b easier to manage. Out of this wonderful picture of unified black love, most of you could not see past the little girl's hair. That is not a sign of self-hatred, but a sign that us as a people are easily distracted. We keep saying we want to see our own black brothers and sisters happily married with strong families. Instead of being appreciative of such, it turns into a feud about what you would do if that was your daughter.
There is no one type of black hair, as you know. That little girl's hair doesn't need anything. Our hair coils. Our hair sweats. I brush my daughter's hair every day, use a smoother for her edges, and by the time she leaves daycare, it's curled up the same way. No child NEEDS a relaxer. Black hair itself doesn't NEED a relaxer. We WANT a relaxer because it's quick and easy. I refuse to put any chemical in my child's hair just to save a little elbow grease. Angela doesn't NEED to do anything to "fix" her hair. As you can see, it's braided neatly. At that young of an age, the edges will curl if they aren't long enough to be braided with the rest of the hair.
