CBS Radio - Diversity Means White Men Only!!

: After MSNBC fired Don Imus yesterday, pressure has been on CBS Radio to do the same. So far, CBS Radio has stuck by the 66 year old shock jock.

But MediaTakeOut.com has just discovered an embarrassing fact that may make it even more difficult for CBS Radio to stand by its decision. You see, it turns out that on CBS Radio's web page on diversity, the network only shows photos of White men. As the below photo shows, despite claiming that the network is "as diverse and representative of the public we serve," the station doesn't show any photos of women or minorities.

For a link to the CBS Radio Diversity web page, click here.

UPDATE - Since we initially published our report, CBS Radio has updated their website. Now the page has a photo of Brian McKnight and one of a woman. Neither of whom, we are told, works for the network.

Is this really surprising???

Look at their history of Anchors for the CBS Evening Nightly News!

butch31

This is really a SHAME lol, i gotta laugh, in order to keep from crying!

smmyles

If you click onto the link above, the diversity section is diverse with woman and minorities. The pictures above are from the CBS radio section of the website. MTO stop being messy!

bxgirlie

smmlyes youre talking about the diversity page from cbs corporation not cbs radio. MTO printed the right page.

Darknlovelync

SHAME..SHAME..SHAME.. THEIR TELEVISION PROGRAM IS DIVERSE, BUT NOT THEIR RADIO STATION..MAYBE DIVERSE MEAN WHITE MALES OF DIFFERENT BACKGROUND, AGE, ETC. THE ARTICLE IS TALKING ABOUT THE RADIO STATION.

Harlem

Wasn't it CBS who went after Janet, for that superbowl nonsense, but they want to ride it out with this old man who looks like the Crypt keeper. This world will never change

hotttii

CBS Radio or CBS TV... I am certain they are all under ONE UMBRELLA!!!!

Felipe

Diversity my "expletive"!

butch31

its always a dummy to comment without their morning coffee.

hotttii

And the ONE UMBRELLA is "CBS CORPORATION" as shown in the upper left hand corner!

I'm sure Al Sharpton is out there on the megaphone protesting CBS Radio. That guy and Jesse Jackson make me sick. They are in the business of race division not equality and carrying on the work of MLK. If everyone got along they wouldn't have a job and be in the spotlight they crave.

princessof_la

bpmurr, dumbest of all comments here. What are you? A house n*gger

bpmurr

princessof_la don't even get me started. I don't happen to like Sharpton and Jackson because I think they are race baiters looking out only for their bottom line and exposure. Dropping the n word on me is uncalled for. I wouldn't say something that derogatory to you if I disagreed. Don't get me wrong though, many of the people who work for Jesse and Al are great people with noble ideas.

JSDaDon

they are notoriously known for that in the radio world. im an on-air personality in the Indianapolis,In area and our network is setup with everybody but them. CBSRadio caters to more of the conservative white audience. one of their 'urban' stations has an all white staff. boycott CBSRadio until they realize whats real in this country...

bpmurr

JSDaDon that is really stupid on CBS radios part to have an all white urban station. The makeup of the CBS lineup should reflect the market they are trying to reach.

strongblackwoman

wow, how long did it take yal to figure that one out? a lifetime? ....

[link to external website removed]

bxgirlie

Oh Snap. They just changed the page. Now they have Brian McKnight and some white women on there. Brian McKnight don't work for no dang CBS radio. Why dey put his pic up there???

bpmurr

Can we say BUSTED CBS RADIO! Changing the page was priceless.

Yve

CBS and the other big networks created one, only after Fox and UPN....who "truely" is interested in diversity....... They folled the trend to a certain extent....only named a page that but will never follow through.......Hell everybody, even people NOT in the industry knows that..... Just watch T.V.

CBS...stands for "Colored Banned Shows/Segments".

ugot2bkidding

MTO are you scared to let me post comments about the new world order? Let me find out you are a part of a sect to keep our people dumbed down. cbs, viacom, aol, etc are bold with symbology supporting the new world order. Blacks will be obselete by 2013 if we don't wake up! Check the facts about minorities in the US. WAKE UP!

Hi everyone, At 11:00pm I watched the news. The Rutgers Basketball Girl Team players met at the NJ governors mansion and listened to IMUS and his wife apologize. I want to know who set this bull meeting up. Why was this necessary in the first place. Why did they even waste time speaking with him. Before leaving, it was reported that IMUS's wife hugged each of the players. In addition, it was noted that the young ladies are thinking about forgiving him. Now THIS is an outrage. Why do people in our community always have to turn the other cheek when their are the ones who are being degraded and humiliated. If this exact situation had occured to a group of Jewish women, they would not have met with him under any circumstances. Their representative would have spoken about them being humiliated and that they were in no regard going to allow him to attempt to justify or explain himself. What's wrong with us. The offensive remarks he made about those young ladies, were a blow to every african american woman in this world. IMUS is a straight up racist and has been for sometime. Rutgers is not the only time he has spewed his racist hate and insults towards women, actually he has insulted others in the same way. The blow those girls sent to the world about them standing up for their respect was magnamious and I can't understand why they would even consider letting him off the hook. They made a very powerful move by bringing the world's attention to the disgracefull way, other societies relate to us. I don't agree with the very thought that they would consider letting him slide on this one. We all must remember, in our historical reference, black women had no say what so ever about their fate or what was going to happen to them, from day to day. They had no one to represent them on any sort of official level and did not even belong to anything the sent a powerful message for any or all of their needs. If for no other reason, these young ladies should stand their ground and remember, what we owe those women who could not speak for themselves, what they went through to get us this far and honor their sacrifice with regard to all they did, so that we could achieve what we have. Their has been a very powerful message sent by our community and I personally do not feel that anyone, should for one second take it back. I's stick to my guns for dear life. We owe our sister at least that much.

From what I understand, Imus's wife is a wonderful human being. Perhaps she set this up for her husband.

What Imus said was wrong and he was fired but if the man found it in his heart to sincerely apologize to the team, before he goes off into oblivion, I don't see what's wrong with that. Life is much too short to be taking grudges and hate to the grave. Now that team can move on.

If I were the team coach, I wouldn't tell the media one way or the other if I accepted his apology, that's up to them. It's not a matter of letting him slide but a point where humans can get together and discuss a hurtful issue.

That's like saying some black women will never forgive or forget some of the rappers and their gangsta rap lyrics about "hos and b*tches." In a few years, some of those very rappers will be apologizing and saying they're cleaning up their acts. Prince refuses to even sing some of his earlier music because of the nasty lyrics. He's found a higher being now and is very devoted to it.

As for this picture of CBS's radio website, when will advertisers learn that when people look at company pictures, they look for someone who looks like them. That says a whole lot.

Jahlove

This is somewhat of f the subject, but still related:

While the African-American community birthed rap music, its words are now controlled by corporate America and valued most by the dollar. Over 65% of rap music is bought by whites. White boys control about 90% of the rap industry, in terms of real power to make decisions. If rap music is bought by mostly white folks, and white boys run the rap industry, which is a cash cow for them, of course they will continue to produce garbage rap music that perpetuates the stereo-types that white folks have conditioned themselves to believe about black folks.

Well folks, news flash!! Cooperate ameriKKK isn’t willing to lose money anytime soon by cleaning up rap, or even pushing more positive hip hop, because they know stereotype is what their core audience wants to hear and see, so of course they’ll continue to recruit more young, money hungry black folks to peddle rap music like crack. As long as these cooperate bastards are making billions, they’ll continue to feed us an endless diet of moronic, wanna be gansta, women hating, trash talking, crotch grabbing, , booty shaking, ti*ti shaking, unconscious dimwits who act like they doing big things when most of them can’t ever read their contracts, and have signed their so called livelihood away to music executives, and living from paycheck to paycheck like the majority of Americans. Most of these dimwits think they are doing big things, when in reality they are being pimped and used as pawns in “massa’s” game of mind control to make his money.

However, we cannot understand how contemporary racism works without acknowledging the extent to which racism is interconnected with other forms of oppression in ameriKKK so called “color” society. Wheras stereotypes of Black folks were used back in the day to justify oppression, now rap music is being used to do the same thing!

WAKE UP!!

Turn off BET and turn on Libradio.com

iamhere2letUhaveit

THIS IS AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL

.....amazingly, CBS hasn't had a "black" SITCOM since Franks Place which stared Tim Reid and his wife Daphne Maxwell Reed or Cosby, and both were damn near 20 years ago the!!! Even the local news channel in this city hires and fires the "Minority" reporters so quickly, that if you blink you'll actually miss 'em!!! Black reporters are usually regulated to "On the scene" which means nothing more than "On their feet" while the "pretty blu eyes blond and brunettes" is best suited in the studio behind the desk constantly in front of the camera!!! -CAREFULLY OBSERVE !!!

strongblackwoman

Jahlove that is what I'm talking about! Ever since the original BET owner sold it, I haven't watched it... they need to pick up a newspaper or a book instead of KIng, or watching damn videos all day...

girlinpink1

WOW, come on MTO
