A few years ago, I had a grandparent going thru this and her religious beliefs just didn't want to believe what her 14 yr old granddaughter was saying. She found love letters and all. I advised her to seek counseling for this child but to also be aware that this child was coming to her with emotions she felt were real. Everyone ignored it and the child went into denial after that. She changed her story to please everyone.
I attended training classes on this so I could advise some of the parents and guardians and the professor said that when families make children feel guilty about these emotions they'll wait until they move from home to come out.
