I wouldn't classify myself as an "Obamabot" no more than a person who opposes Obama says they're not a coon. I don't like half of what Obama does and didn't vote for him in the Primaries, but I also do not co-sign the personal or baseless attacks on the man either. If a person do not like him because of his policies, then that's fine, but to call him and his family out their name is something I can't get behind.

I don’t think people want to run off anyone here who disagrees with Obama; I think it’s more in the presentation. If the topic is about how Obama was wrong for extending rich folks tax cuts and you disagree with it, then I don’t think anyone would argue with you about it. Most people who are okay with Obama was even talking about he was wrong for it. But you have the people who call him a “Monkey,” “ape,” “Anti-Christ,” and call his wife worse names, and those are the people who get attacked because most black people have been called those same names or know someone who has. So I think it’s all about your presentation.
It’s your personal preference to call him bi-racial. But the facts are that he himself says he is black and that should be good enough for most people. When Halle Berry won an Oscar, she was happy for being the first black woman to win it for leading actress, and she gave thanks to other black women who paved the way for her. You know why? Because she knows that society saw her as black. Whites are the one who made the “One Drop Rule” and Obama, Halle, etc., white’s I’m sure didn’t make it easy for them to succeed. But once they scratch and claw their way to the top, then you have whites wanting to say, “Oh, they’re bi- racial.” When they were nobodies, they were black, but when they become somebody, then they want to claim them. Why do you think Halle, Obama, etc identify with black? Because whites never let them forget they were black. Like Obama said, he lived his life as a black man, it’s how society saw him, and that’s what he checked on the census. If he wants to be black, then he’s black. Just like yesterday you said nobody could force you to accept Obama as your President, you also cannot force your definition of what black is on him. Most of us have white blood in us anyway whether we want to or not.

You see I, dagreat1, and Love have all commented on it, but you see others haven't. The room got quiet. Know why? That's because it doesn't have anything to do with Obama. People never pass up a chance to down Obama, but when it comes to actual policies that affect people, they're never around.

Anyway, I agree with Greg that the Rebs have possibly over reached with this one. Many people still depend on Medicare and a lot of them are Tea Party members and/or Republican supporters.
Instead of completely phasing the program out in one fell swoop, they should try to phase it out gradually or have an opt in-opt out option. Also put more focus in fixing the fraud. Getting rid of the whole program won't solve the ills caused by the program or the issues before the program started.

I don't believe we should adversarial. We should be neutral. And no, their priorities should NOT be our own. We need to take care of home first. Let them dictate their own policies. If they want peace they have to work it out. If they want war, let them have it. But not on our endorsement or condemnation. Not at the expense of the taxpayers. Let them have their own policies.

Two issues there. Where are those people? They're there all right. We don't see them for two reasons. One, for what you just said and two, they aren't news worthy. Frankly, I think Israel is a source of much of our problems. If the Palestinians accepted Israel, they still wouldn't get their land back. The WikiLeaks memos showed the Israelis were NOT prepared to give that back. Question, why should anyone have to bargain for what is theirs? Israel has broken Geneva Convention rules that say you cannot take land during war and move your people in, which is what they have done. Why should the Palestinians bargain for something that is illegal? It's their land, give it back. Period.

I know what the difference is, but privatizing Medicare is the first step to ending it. It's always been that way. When Republicans wanted to privatize people's retirement funds and let them manage them, can you imagine the level of devastation that people would have suffered when Wall St collapsed if they have managed their pensions? hmmmm? last time i checked madoff is a demo'rat and obama gets more money from wall street than most politicians. and no republican was advocating putting all social security in the stock market. google that! as part of a diversified portfolio, all young people should put some money in the stock market, as a long term investment. hiding your money under the bed and getting govt. handouts never made anybody rich. the stock market has already recovered most, if not all, of the loss from a few years ago. the same cannot be said about the housing market caused by politicians making policies that put unqualified people in houses and looking the other way when regulations put in place to protect the public, went unenforced.

Just did and it's exactly what I assumed. Medicare by it's very definition is a social program. Once you change how the program is funded and operated it stops being a social program. In essence, privatizing medicare IS ending it. It simply becomes a private health care plan like all the thousands we have now.
There's also absolutely no evidence that privatizing the program would keep it solvent. Premiums are ever increasing each year. What's the guareentee that private "medicare" won't increase?
Democrat's aren't proposing to do "nothing". There's no actual proposal put on the plate yet but they are still talking about it. Last I heard it was removing the income cap and possibly raising the retirement age. Like the Reb plan, I'm not sure how that would fix anything.

I don't consider Obama any less black because he came straight from a "white womb" than someone who has white in their bloodlines. To me, we're all the same. If Obama identifies with black, that's good enough for me.
Also, I agree with you about the other links being closed. I'm not going to attach any theory to it other than MTO is raggedy. But they do need to get it together. Why post stories if nobody can comment?

MTO does this all the time. They have Obama threads, which are usually headline fails, then when the next one comes up, the link is mysteriously "not working". Leads me to believe MTO has really does have some type of agenda, but hey it IS a private site. Fred can do whatever the [EXPLETIVE] he wants. Just wish he'd do it more intelligently than the crappy way he does it now.
And yeah, I know that party was crazy! They had a bunch of folks at the Triple A. Kind of feel bad for Derrick Rose though...meh. It's over now lol. Memorial Weekend is gonna be crazy this year with the Heat winning and all them celebs coming down.
