: It's very sad, but statistics show that NBA players go BROKE on average within six years of retirement.
But For former Cleveland Cavalier Delonte West - it came a little earlier. Dude doesn't even have enough money to make it through the lockout . . .
These men are OWNED by their employers. They can't go get jobs, they can't associate with players from other teams, they may not work and few have the education or business acumen to be productive with the money they make.
Joke or not, I doubt Home Depot will be able to pay the bills he has acquired. Time to downsize. Smaller house, smaller car... no more making it rain..
Between 60-80% of professional athletes end up bankrupt after retirement. When you give a bunch of young men who haven't been properly educated or trained in money management, or financial responsibility, you end up with broke former-rich people. His position isn't implausible. But, whether or not it's a real situation and not just some fabrication remains to be seen.
He earned $14 MILLION dollars over his career!!! Why doesn't he have any money set aside? That is absolutely pathetic! What is wrong with us black folks that we can't save a damn thing? All the clothes, cars and sneakers in the world don't mean ish if we ain't got a dime and no institutions to help us when we're down. WAKE UP, Black people!!!!
sorry guys but this is actually true he was just on sports center and PTI a few days ago and they was discussing him about filling out an app for home depot and the reporters said thats really not a bad idea cus yuh have to make a living until the lockout is over..plus he's not really a high-paid player he make only like 6 million so he's really telling the truth.. But hey i dnt knock no-ones hustle atleast he's tryna do sumn' until the lockout ends. Gotta family to take care of ya kno. Good luck Bro keep ya head up.
I kid you not! I was at work in Washington DC, when the Celtics played the wizards. I asked one of my co workers to come to Walgreens with me. We walked to Walgreens and we were standing in line an in the line was Delonte West. This ninja bought like a handful for real of swishers sweets, and literally jogged out the door.
I know MFs be cappin on MTO but I swear this dude was in Walgreens buying a fist full of swishers... It was on 22nd and M. St right across from the Ritz Carlton. He was wearing a gray suite with a gray scully on. I wish i woulda asked him if he for real fukced Lebrons mom
Home Depot? FAILLLL! To Much Tricking , Making It Rain , Buying Cars & Other Dumb Pointless Mess Instead Of Starting A College Fund For His Kids And Buying Property For Situations Like This .. Take Note Kobe CDFU! But Real [EXPLETIVE]! Follow Me On Twitter @CreshaLove #TEAMFOLLOWBACK #TEAMFOLLOWBACK #TEAMFOLLOWBACK Dont Forget To Mention Me Loves :)
Times are rough for everyone.Delonte West got to eat,so there is nothing wrong with his decision. Before he knows it, another door will open for him and perhaps the NBA lockout will cease. he got to keep his head up.@Tiplite2004: How far do you really think that being a sugar baby will take you?Sugar babies(male and female)are just a dime a dozen.
I don't feel sorry for anyone that don't know how to budget their money. He making more income than 60% of the population and he dont know how to spend like its going out of style? The average Human-being with kids can live comfortably with 45-60k a year. These players spending my entire annual salary on a chain
Y'all do know that he's just joking don't y'all!! He got enough bullsh%t to sell on ebay to hold him down for a year and let's face it, we haven't heard of his house being foreclosed on, cars being repoed, etc. and a Home Depot salary certainly won't help him maintain. Bottomline is that he's just being a clown!
@tiplite2004...you won't work for $10 that's what's wrong people are too prideful won't work for $10/hr but will wait for welfare to be put on EBT once a month...people won't flip a burger at mcdonalds but they'll buy one...smh...and unemployment is at what 20% but you won't work for $10/hr...do you have a degree that would make you over qualified?? I doubt it! There are former CEO's now working at walmart so don't be to proud to beg!
why these negroes don't go to the seminars that the NBA provides for them when they are new to the franchise regarding how to manage their money, how to stay away from the groupies, etc., is beyond me. they get that money and think that it's going to keep rolling in no matter what, spending on all types of stupid shyt, making it rain in strip clubs, etc. you mean to tell me that this nicca who is a player in the NBA is broke?!? i don't feel not one bit sorry for his dumb azz. this is ridiculous beyond words
Yo, MTO yall really have fell off. How the [EXPLETIVE] a [EXPLETIVE] broke cause of the lock out? Training camp doesn't start this early, the players would still be in the off season right now(meaning not getting paid). Even if wasn't a lock out. the [EXPLETIVE] was joking and of all the coaching jobs that are available especially for a NBA player why would he take a job at home depot? yall be reaching. With this recycled story i saw the other day on yahoo.
I can't sit here and crack jokes about someone struggling because regardless of how much money we think a person has made it can happen to anyone at any second! We don't know where all of his money went, he might've made some bad investments or had people stealing from him, you just never know what another person is going through and right now the economy is so bad a lot of people are struggling and we can't say it's all from mismanaging funds! Some of you sitting here talking bad about this man better count your blessings and pray that you don't fall victim to the recession!
