All it takes is for someone with rare talent to excite the music industry and Tevin Campbell represents one of those few examples. Tevin Campbell born November 19, 1975 in Waxahachie, Texas and was the discovery of Warner Records' legendary Quincy Jones. At age 11, Tevin received the honor of being apart of Quincy Jones's historic Grammy Award winning album Black on the Block with the legends Ella Fitzgerald, Barry White, Chaka Khan, Ray Charles and Sarah Vaughn. "Tomorrow(Better You, Better Me)," was a number one hit for Tevin and the artist formerly known as Prince requested that he do the song "Round and Round" for the soundtrack to the movie Graffiti Bridge. Tevin has had two other hit songs from his solo albums, T.E.V.I.N. ("Tell Me What You Want Me To Do". The album was the multi-platinum album I'm Ready ("Can We Talk."). He does claim that success has not gotten to his head, although, sources do say that he has thrown tantrums.

In December 2005, Campbell made his Broadway debut in the role of Seaweed J. Stubbs in the hit musical Hairspray.
Campbell returned to the studios in 2006, working with producers Scott Storch, The Underdogs, Krucial Keys, Bryan Michael Cox, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Teddy Riley, and Ryan Leslie and his longtime associate KeArt. The album is to be released sometime in 2007.
And I never expected to find THIS out...
In 1999, Campbell was arrested after soliciting oral sex from an undercover male police officer during a sting operation in Van Nuys, California. According to police reports, marijuana residue was also found in Campbell's car during the arrest.
The sting operation was reportedly conducted in an area near Van Nuys High School, where there had been numerous complaints from the public about cruising and solicitation.
Although the police report clearly states that the arresting/sting officer was a male, there has been considerable speculation as to Campbell's sexuality since the incident. Some have conjectured that the arresting/sting officer may have been in drag, further clouding the issue. To date, Campbell has not commented publically on this matter.
Campbell plead no contest to the misdemeanor of solicitation, and as a result was ordered to pay $1080.00 in fines, attend meetings of Narcotics Anonymous and participate in a court-sanctioned AIDS awareness class. He returned to court in February 2000 to provide proof that he had completed the requirements of his sentence.

Tevin has an amazing voice and its a shame that he fell off in the late 90's..he had such a bright career ahead of him..I think he went through the awkward phase where they didnt know how to market him because he was no longer the cute little kid with a big voice..his voice changed and his looks changed and he really didnt have an image other than being a cute kid..he was always a very slim person so I wouldnt believe the AIDS hype..I do believe hes gay, I mean that was obvious even when he was a kid..but thats not an issue..Im just glad to see him back out there again..I read that he was doing the broadway musical Hairspray..so good for him..and if yall remember, he wasnt all that good looking back then, so I dont know why people are shocked by these pics..hes like 32 years old now so hes not going to look like that cute kid from back in the day..thats what happens when people disappear for so long, no one can get over the fact that you grew up..oh well, best of luck to him..and c-as sick as your comment was, I totally agree with you..lol..damn |
