Eddie knew all along he was the father. Mel B was supposed to be just a rebound but he messed around and got her pregnant. I knew he was the father. I just didn't like how he denied her. Many men have this tendency to sleep with a woman and then deny their very existence. Eddie knew when she got pregnant that there was a chance that child was his. For some reason he was in denial. Now that the truth is out, I hope he cares for Melanie's baby just like he cares for the kids he has by Nicole. You know some brothers tend to treat kids by different mothers differently!
I have to agree with gamecents1 and say that it isn't about the money!!! There is a bigger picture here people (and others) and that is the fact that there is a child who NEEDS her father. Money is fine and it may help with food and material items for that child, but when she turns 18, do you think she wants to hear "Daddy paid a lot of money for you"? That baby needs Eddie's love and attention, no matter what he thinks of Melanie and no matter how far his relationship with Tracy goes.

What R ya'll talking about. The only thing that the man said was he won't know if the baby is his or not until after the DNA test. He has a right to that. She was the one that made it a big deal by selling the baby's first pics to a magazine and telling all of her business to the world. She could have bypassed all of this drama by simply saying [I am hurt that Eddie doubts the paternity of our child but the DNA test will confirm that he is her father.]That would have been alot classier than posing with her newborn under the caption "Eddie Murphy meet your daughter." That was tacky and not the way that a mature woman should handle her business. Eddie probably dumped her ass because he found out that she was too childish for him after he had already hit it. With that being said, if he continues to ignore that child after it has been proven to him that he is the father, THEN he is a jackass. I just can't blame the man for wanting a DNA test before investing his feelings, time and money into a child that he wasn't 100% sure that he fathered.
I knew he was the father. The fact that he waited TWO months after the baby was born to take the test and the fact that the results were probably available two days later and his spokesperson didn't say the baby wasn't his led me to believe he was the father all along. Plus, as wild as Mel B. may seem, she is not known as someone who sleeps around.
No doubt he has already set up some knind of child support agreement before today; that is why Mel B.'s spokesperson announced the test results.

Well let's look at the facts: Eddie knew that he had unprotected sex with Mel, he knew that that was his baby, and she had to go to court in order to force him to take a paternity test. If he was a real man, he would have taken that test a week after the baby was born. If he was done with Mel, he could have at least taken care of his child. I don't judge people, but I don't respect anyone who doesn't take care of their kids because they are innocent. What the hell does he mean he'll do the right thing. The right thing would have been to admit the baby was his from the start. Regardless of Eddie and Mel's relationship, how does he think his daughter will feel when she finds out that her dad denied her from the very beginning and had to be forced to provide for her. Some of you people have lost it... Some of you have kids right now and don't know who the father is so stop trying to hate on Eddie for making sure. He knew she got down on him, so he didn't want to just claim a kid he wasn't certain of. That doesn't make him a dog or trife, it makes him responsible. He didn't just wait months or years to step up and see if the child was his, while the child is still a newborn, he went and did what he needed to do, that way the child won't be affected by the misunderstanding. It is apparent to me that he is no stranger to taking care of his children, so why are people acting like he's trying to dodge this child? Mel B. better not hold her breath waiting for Eddie to be an involved father. This is his 7th child. I remember the mother of his oldest child (before his wife) coming out and saying he never wanted anything to do with that child, just pay child support.
