: MediaTakeOut.com has some SAD news to report. A popular Howard University student DIED in a freak accident while on Spring Break In Mexico. Davon Green Franklin, who was a senior from Baltimore, Md. and an active member of the Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc, was only 22 years old.
And before you go thinking that his death had something to do with partying – it DIDN’T!!! Davon’s friends claim that he gave up drinking alcohol, so that he can pursue a career in Christian Ministry.
He had applied to multiple divinity schools – and was awaiting acceptance.
Davon will truly be missed.
PLZ IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT MY FRIEND WHOM I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL WIT DONT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. AND TO YALL WHO THINK THAT HE WAS DRUNK HE WASNT. WHAT HAPPEN WAS AN ACCIDENT. SO IF YOUR NOT GOING TO SAY ANYTHING NICE THEN DONT POST AND KEEP IT MOVING PLZ AND THANK YOU. DAVON I LOVE YOU AND YOU KNOW YOU WILL ME TRULY MISSED. IM GOING TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOUR MOTHER FOR YOU!
Wow, things like this make me re-think going anywhere. My mom always tells me that sometimes it's better to stay home then go out (like when I wanted to go to Cuba with my high school graduating class, decided not to go afterall) - never know what can happen to you.
He's very handsome. I really need to get over my fear and get swimming lessons.
And MTO, you guys are unbelievable, there is NO excuse for any errors. It's called PROOF READING!
I too went to highschool with this young man and if you knew anything about him you would know Davon was a man of GOD so for all the nay sayers please keep your negitive comments to ur self when you talk about a child of GOD! And he truly was a blessing to those around him. My prayers go out to his mother and farther.
I saw Davon at the gym before he passed away last Sunday. He was a very, VERY nice and respectful man and was excited to get away for a while. He was one of the first guys I met at Howard. Unfortunately, MediaTakeout did not give the details, which is that he was on a floating device when he got a cramp. He wasn't drinking and he didn't drink because we would always talk about it whenever we encountered each other. It is my understanding that most of you are ignorant and you focus on dumb things opposed to the true story, but out of respect, focus on the story at hand.
I hate when their is a post of someone dying and people can only find something negative to say. So what if he is 22 and in undergraduate, a lot of people graduate at 22. I don't care if he is 55 and a undergraduate. If our young black men are selling dope not taking care of their kids we have something to say about that, if they are 22 and an undergraduate we think they are slow? Give me a break people.
oh and by the way, most of us here at Howard are 5-year students...We were CLass of 09 but they changed our graduation schemes....Besides, the average college student is in for 5 years....at least we're IN school & doing something with our lives...oh yea, and getting good jobs! A lot of universities don't have the Howard touch in terms of employment and success... This is about Davon though. We already have been missing you!
@Howard Star- Sorry for your loss. Thats the first thing I thought of is that it coulda been a cramp. He looked like he was really doing something positive with his life. We need more young brothers like him. Everyone else: Is it necessary to say a million x's that there was a typo in the heading? How abt focusing on respecting this brother's memory
Are people really commenting on the fact that he was an undergrad at 22?? I don't care if he was 42 at least he was at school...and a university, a great university at that! RIP my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. I hope you have comfort knowing that God had bigger plans for this great young man.
MTO, the headline...SMH. Do yall ever check yall work twice before putting stuff out there?? Or do yall just not give a damn??....Anyway, wow that's sad. He was a handsome man who obviously had a good head on his shoulders. It's always a shame wehn terrible things happen to good people who are trying to make a difference in the world. RIP Davon
RIP and my prayers go out to his family........ But side note:I'm not really sure why someone commented on the fact that he was 22....But for those who can not count or for those who have never graduated from a university...22 is about the age you are as a senior in college. Given that you start college at about 18 and you attend for 4 years....18 + 4 = 22 thought I would break it down for you even more just for future refercences.
DAVONCARTERJ- We dont care who you lookin up to.. Its a free country people can talk about what the hell dey wannt. If they talkin bout da post let dem talk about da post.. Sittin on you computer tryna tell us who u look up to. We can careless bout who you look up too. Callin sumbody lamme.. Bro you look lame, possin der wearin a do-rag throwin up sum sign. Nd you have da balls to say sumone lame.. You must not have looked at yo pic.
But anyway RIP to Davon.. He will truly be missed. Your in a better place wit our one and only savior. To those that knew Davon.. Im srry for ur lose. Prayn4U

THIS IS A VERY SAD STORY INDEED,BUT ON THE UPLIFT AT LEAST WE CAN LAUGH AT THE STUPIDITY OF MEDIATAKEOUT 4 MISS SPELLING HEADLINES AN SHYIT, CAUSE I WAS COMFUSED 4 A MIN."HOWARD UNIVERSITY DIED??" DAMN,THERE GOES HOMECOMING!! AGAIN I'M SORRY, THAT WAS MY FIRST THOUGHT.THE SECOND ONE WAS AFTER I READ PART OF THE STORY FROM MTO THAT THE YOUNG MAN HAD DIED AND NOT HOWARD UNIVERSITY.HE WILL BE MISSED BY THOSE THAT KNEW&LOVED HIM. HE WAS EASY ON THE EYES 2!! ***CAN WE SAY ANGEL??**** SO HOT. RIP DAVON.
Please note that young man in this article had a medical emergency while swimming in the ocean. This was not about riotous living, nor should we be judging someone by presumptuous stereotypes. This young man could swim, however due to a medical emergency he accidentally drowned. "Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts" (DDGF)
