: OK LADIES I THINK THIS TOPIC IS LONG OVERDUE,,,,LET'S TALK FASHION AND SHOES,,,FROM VINTAGE TO PRESENT,,,,I AM WILLING TO SHARE SOME OF MY "SECRET WEAPONS" IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DO THE SAME,,,,
SherRoyal Flag post I HAVE YET TO FEEL ANYTHING ABOUT SARAH'S LINE BITTEN,,,SEEMS CHEESY WHAT DO YOU THINK,,,, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Being styled by a fashion lengend doesn't make you a fashionist. She was a red-carpet hot mess before Sex..City became an icon.
Bitten is just an effort to grow herself as a brand.
@SherRoyal
I going to report you to Fred because your a Feminist. Why, can't guys come on your post? Why you couldn't say okay Ladies and Gentlemen? I was going to share the new clothing I got coming out with Jay Z. It's for the retirement crowd and we call it Roc - a - Chair Wear, we have the "R" in a wheelchair as our logo....Lol
Good Morning everybody!
SherRoyal Flag post I CANNOT SAY THIS ENOUGH ALSO,,,PLEASE WEAR BELTS LADIES,,,ASS CRACKS ARE NOT CUTE,,,LOL!!! AND THE BELT MAKES THE JEANS LOOK SOO MUCH NICER ON THE BOOTY,,, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Depends on when a belt is required or needed. On most women, belts add bulk. I cannot stress ENOUGH how vital the proper under garments help!!!!

The vendors in Soho are the best!
If any of you are from New York, Theres an amazing shop in Soho called "The Flying A" they have the most adorable, trendiest pieces!! one of a kinds!! they manufacture the clothing on site!! you can actually place orders for items that you see on their racks and tell them to add your personal touches to them. So it's almost like your designing your own pieces. Really cute!

balenciaga is Fab!! very high end. My favorite designer is Ferre - ever heard of that line? I LOVE IT!!!!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ It's Ferre, as in Gianfranco Ferre. Very big in the 80's and 90's. Janet Jackson wore a lot of his clothing when she was at peek of her career.
They make bad azzzz leather jackets!!!
sie-sie Flag post you know what show is like the black fashion treads for the CLASSY BLACK SEXY WOMEN

my girl TRACY ROSS- Is the perfect example, i love her style
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well, look who her mom is! lol Diana Ross is a style-icon. Tracey began her career as a fashion editor. Most of the items she wears from the show are personally hand-picked from her own closet. She does wear alot of Louboutins though.
I love her too, but she makes me mad that I can't find that "Free City" ish ANYWHERE!!!!! LOL

****If she doesn't respond this time, I will have to take all of her credit cards and cut them up****
Hey everybody (again) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Nice try, most of the stores I go to, have my personal shyt on file! :P
Hiiiiieeeeeeeeee cali! lol *waving profusely*
Sher!
ha ha ha!! Newport news was the sH*t for me to at one point (early 20's) I would always order their faux shearlings! lmao! they were nice. I wouldn't wear it now though. However I did see a catalog on the coffee table in my doctor's office and I felt like ordering a jumpsuit and a couple of other things. lol.
TerriB Flag post LMAO @ Cali
Sher, I agree with you on the stilettos. I'm not going to give mine up but I put limited use on them. I don't do flats my do I'm more conscious one what type of heel I buy, whereas in the past I would just grab anything that looks cute &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I just screw this all up, what I was trying to say is I don't were the stilettos as much anymore, but I do keep them on standby and that I'm more conscious on the type of heels I buy whereas in the past I didn't care as long as it was cute.
sie-sie Flag post so have you seen those shoes that ameri , rhianna and b wore. you know the ones that look like platforms that the band KISS used to wear? WHOULD YOU EVER them heel out to the club ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Are you referring to the black heels with the colorful attachments Bey wore? Those were Fendi. I don't know who would pay $4,000 for them. She probably got hers for free.
SherRoyal Flag post @ELITE THAT CATALOG IS A MESS,,,YEARS WENT BY AND I VISITED MY MOM AND THEY STILL HAD THE SAME CLOTHES FROM WHEN I WAS A TEEN SO FUNNY,,LOL!! --------------- s. Mi too rich fi argue w b!tch

well yeah they got a little bit of the throw back going on in a SMALL section of the mag. but they have been up to date with there clothes. and it just shows you that the same thing that they wore back then, is what we wearing right now.

what you know about NEWSPORT NEWS!!!!! that's the lick right there. i love there victoriean vintage &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Yeah you're right, they do have a nice Victorian vintage collection. Some stores around here sell stuff like that but sometimes it looks a little used and dirty, but Newport News collection looks vintage but hip at the same time.
ELITE Flag post hey ladies!!
I have a question, WHat type of designer jewelry would you wear? and How do you feel about juicy couture? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I see teens and young girls wear JC. Too trendy for me.
I don't care much for costume jewelry unless it's high-end like Iradj Moini or maybe Kenneth Jay Lane. I like natural elements like pearls, shells, wood, semi-precious, coral, jade, turquoise, etc
LIS!!!
YOU KNOW WHAT SISTA!!!! I LOVE KENNETH JAY LANE!!! ugh! it's amazing! they had this black crystal octopus ring that I was after last year, I went to Bendels and tried to buy one and they were sold out. Also he had the coral "horn" necklace that Paris Hilton and a bunch of other were wearing. Those were great too. I love his line. David Yurman is the bomb too. A little out of my budget, but the bomb. :-)
I buy a lot of shoes from Yoox.com. Designer shooes at cheap prices. I also hit up Ebay and search Marc Jacobs shoes & bags and ESPECIALLY Rene Caovilla...
I like to switch up from time to time. For a casual/sexy/babydoll look, I like a lot of fitted baby tees (cute hoodies also) from Hollister; I'll pair that up with a pair of fitted jeans and right now since it's cold, wedge boots. In the summer, I usually switch it up with a pair of stilettos and oversized bag.
When I go out, I prefer sexy/vampy, so I like fitted, short, minidress with heels or sweater dresses with boots..
These are some of my favorite sites:
www.yoox.com www.hollisterco.com www.babyphat.com www.delias.com www.blaec.com www.roxy.com www.piperlime.com www.michaelkors.com
That's about all I can think of for now...
SherRoyal Flag post I THINK THE URBAN DESIGNERS WENT A BIT FAR WITH THEIR CHOICES IN FASHION,,,IT IS SOO DAMN TACKY,,, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is why they will always be considered "urban brands". No one in the CFDC considers any of these brands as legitimate designers, most of them only do it for a profit and pull out like the stock market once they've satisfied their ROI (Jay-Z recently sold Rocawear, and it shows!). Not all blacks, even the ones they call "urban" would wear most of that fake, flamboyanat garbage.
Everytime I see this stuff, it's all in that one section of Macy's bunched up, picked over, hanging half way off the rack, or on the floor.

SherRoyal Flag post OK GUYS LETS GO EURO,,,THIS SITE ASOS,,IS THE PLACE TO FIND THAT ONE SPECIAL THING YOU KNOW,,,,SOME ITEMS ARE A LITTLE CHEESY THOUGH,,,AND GET READY TO WAIT WEEKS...LOL!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I love to get things from TopShop!
HOWEVER.......................
Unless you are quite familiar with the sizing and the fit, stick to American sizing. Most americans can't wear the Euro cut.
For instance, I wear a size 2 dress. In Dolce Gabbana, I wear a 38 or 40. It's weird!

what do you think of Piaget? they carry this amazing diamond heart necklace that everyone is copying. They also were the first to design the million dollar watch. amazing! I went to a party thrown at the Piaget boutique and tried on the watch! omg! it was breathtaking. the entire watch was flooded in princess cut diamonds. Amazing!

ELITE Flag post yes, I'm a 40 in euro. TOp shop is the bomb as well. What about Zara? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ We just got one here in Atlanta, but TJMaxx has been carrying some of the pieces for a while. I like their shoes better. The coat designs are nice, but the materials are garbage.
I like 100% wool, with a casmere blend, 100% cashmere, silk, but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that flammable polyester stuff!
I lucked up on a cashmere-blend Max Mara coat from TJ Maxx once.

I’m confused…what does the condition of our community have to do with us being women and talking about fashion
Anyway, the answers to all of your questions are none of your business. Maybe you didn’t get the memo, but the stereotypical image of the “stupid black girl with no education, no decent job but spending all of her money on shoes and purses” is now SQUASHED.
The majority of US black women are college educated with decent salaries AND have invested our hard earned money into homes, or the like.
Please, get a clue. And wake up, this is 2008.

And if you're dumb, psuedo-intellectual behind was paying attention, you'd know that DIDDY isn't really a designer!
@Lis
At first I started not to entertain that stupid comment, but I am just so sick and f*cking tired of being stereotyped. It is bad enough I have to deal with this sh*t on a daily basis from the crackas that I work with, but I have to deal with it also from my own dam people??
We (as black people) just cannot win for losing.
Anyway, speaking of TJ Maxx and Marshall's, last year I found TWO Via Spiga coats at Marshall's on clearance; one purple wool with silk lining and a leather collar and the other brown wool with silk lining and fur trim!!!! I paid $29.00 per coat...I was so excited I think I peed a little when I saw the marked down prices, lol...
Whats up ladies,
I wish I loved designer products as much as you - I dont know many... I am a simple person- if I splurge its on Coach handbags and Baby Phat jeans. For my birthday last year I got my first and only pair of Manolo Blahnik- but only wore them once for a New Years Eve party at a penthouse in Times Square.
Any suggestions for the starting a collection?

LOL@Sher...me too. People honestly think I spend ALOT of dough for my stuff, sometimes I do but most times, I don't. I just know about when each store is having a clearance sale, lol.
Now we've talking about most of the high-end stuff, we can't forget about Tar-Get's...I love buying Target's jeans; they are cheap but great! Also, they have cute accessories and tops. I'm feeling the whole Isaac Mizrahi collection...they've even started selling Hollywould!!! Just this past week, I bought up a bunch of cute winter scarfs/gloves/hats on clearance for $1.78 - $3.24 a piece...

You know those clear stripper heels that some are as high as 5 or 6inches? Well, when I go to formal functions and I'm wearing a ball gown, or long dress with a train, I'M ROCKING STRIPPER HEELS! Yup! lol
They almost never photograph your feet at formals or social events like that. It's usually all about the gown.

flygirlph Flag post @Lis yeah i like bluefly for certain things. But my favorite site (even though it's not discount) is eluxury. I get alot of my Dior jewelry from off of there. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I used to love eluxury, but most of the things they have there, I can buy directly from the boutiques here. Epecially the Louis Vuitton stuff. Why pay extra for the S&P, you know.
flygirlph Flag post @Lis oh ok. I thought u were in NY. Girl we don't have alot of boutiques here that I like. I'm in the process of tryna open one. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I came here directly from New York. That's why I know so much about NYC stores.
Where are you? What type of boutique are you trying to open? I have an online boutique myself.
flygirlph Flag post @Lis I'm in Philly and I am gonna open a women and children's upscale boutique. Do you like this one in NY called Intermix? My brother always buys me stuff from there. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Intermix is hot! We just got one down here back in '05. Atlanta is really trying to keep up. We even got a Barney's COOP recently too.
As far as your boutique, how do you plan to market and where? I would suggest if you choose online, like I have (lowest overhead costs), start off VERY SIMPLE at first.
Carrying childrens' AND womens' is a bit broad. What price points/demographics are your focus?
SherRoyal Flag post @LIS,,,WHERE ARE THE GOOD SHOPS IN ATL?,,, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Depends on what you're into:

I actually just started planning to do this because I'm about to take a buyer course and I thought about starting a boutique I am currently doing alot of research on marketing and cost and things like that. I talked to a few investers and I got some thumbs up. I still have alot more research to do though.

@Sher, oh, a SISTA SHOPS! Know what I'm sayin'? lol
Shop? What does that word mean?? LOL I HATE SHOPPING! Not really that I hate it, it's just difficult for me, much less to be paying attention to brand names... My woe is that I can't ever find pants or jeans long enough and when I do, they are much too high...Even if I were a billionaire, I still wouldn't spend $150 on a pair of jeans... To get most of the stuff that I do like, like certain brands of shoes, I usually check them out in the store, then hop on Ebay..same thing for clothes..it's much easier to just take my measurements and shop, since it seems like I have an assistant...just click and have it delivered.. No wasting time trying on anything, no time spent trying to unwedge a 5'11 inch body from a 2x2 dressing room, no cussing, and nobody calling security bc they couldn't find a size 10 stilleto, and I offered to tear up the store personally..
bdsbabydoll Flag post Shop? What does that word mean?? LOL I HATE SHOPPING!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Again, I'm not going to comment on a car repair thread, if I know nothing about it! lol
As far as not finding jeans to long enough, how tall are you? Ebay can actually be a rip-off sometimes if you're not careful. Ppl lie and try to sell fake goods as authentic.
I knew it was time to say goodbye to Ebay when I wanted this Frankie B denim juitsuit that was really hot several years ago. (J-lo made it popular, she wore the same one on her J-Lo album cover) I ended up paying $200 for that thing, but to this day, I've probably only wore it about 3 times, because their not in style anymore.
I refuse to part with it, because I was watching the auction like a hawk all hours of the night, so I could keep my bid current, and ended up wining. I also heard sometimes the seller or their friends even jack up the price by going back and forth at the last minute with the most competetive bidder.
May as well just stick to the stores. Ebay is for hard-to-find items, not regular items.
@ Lis Au contraire mon frere!! Ebay is where I buy everything..(Got big into selling too..I think I sold everything I no longer wore, and pretty much emptied the kid's closets too..I was surprised people bought used clothing). I pretty much get everything from towels and linens, to car parts at fractions of the price, and I love saving $$'s! I swear, I bought 30 pairs of underwear straight from Taiwan for like $13... And they were all actually very pretty..just a mixed box of them all in the same size. People WILL try to jack you, so I generally stick with retailers offering things they couldn't move in the stores. And believe me...I've gone back and forth bidding with myself plenty of times to drive the price up of things I was selling, so I recognize the games, and will promptly stop bidding.

I'd sell stuff on there, but I've been very successful with Craiglist, and there's no money lost for not selling items fast enough, you just simply update your ad.
As far as linens and towel, I need the best. If I purchase these things at discount, I go to places like outlets malls, Marshall's or Homegoods. If I splurge, Restoration Hardware, or department stores when they have really good clearance.
I need to feeeeeeeel these things! And trust me, 250 thread-count sheets don't compete with my 850's. I love luxury, especially when it comes to home goods and my undees. I'm actually a really good bargain shopping believe it or not.

I am a label reading addict.Silk over Polyester any day. No man made materials for me when I can avoid it and I like my linens either egyptian or pima cotton with a nice thread count ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yessir! And let's not forget those high paradigm bath sheets. lol They almost feel like carpet! lol
@ Lis I always check the details first, bc believe me, I'm not a happy camper in some scratchy underpants! No cotton here either, except for the special drawer that has the "that time of the month" ones :) And the thread count prices for sheets is what made me a regular on Ebay. But I do shop at Marshall's a lot too, and we have a pretty good Tanger outlet mall.
